I'm online so never an issue...
But if it's not authorized it's not going to work anyways so why bother and waste the time?
Just my thoughts....

mike_mccue Yes that makes sense. There are some other questions left... In my KOMPLETE 7 list it has updates for Kontakt 5, which didn't come in KOMPLETE 7 but now I do have Kontakt 5 with the KOMPLETE 9 install. I can't help but think that the updates listed in the KOMPLETE 7 list were superseded by the box set install of KOMPLETE 9. So, I don't know if I just downgraded a few of the libraries with old updates or if I just did something redundant, or if I actually updated when running the update. :-) I feel like I'm being stubborn by using the offline mode... but I like having my DAW offline.
It's probably looking at the fact that Kontakt 5 is now installed, so is using the most recent version as the "bar" for updates...

mike_mccue When you use the offline system they send you to a page where you select the package and OS you want to update and it shows you a drop down list. A huge drop down list. :-)
Ah...so YOU have to select....I C...so it means that, if you own Komplete 7, and have updated to Kontakt 5 that THESE updates are what are available....

mike_mccue But I didn't update to K5 so hence the confusion. :-)
The reason may be that they are no longer supporting updates to K4...so only showing K5 updates....

mike_mccue Yes. Also, I assume that the offline system doesn't receive the same tender loving care that the online system does. I'm assuming that it is just some sort of detail that was overlooked in the data base that builds the list. It also has the possibility of offering all my old updates for KOMPLETE 5 and 6. I just hope that updating the Kontakt 5 libraries didn't down date them, and I can't imagine how I could find the answer. I actually went and looked at the libraries in Kontakt before proceeding but I couldn't find version numbers on most of the libraries.
Probably the only way to be sure would be to put the PC online and use the Service Center to check... Then take it back offline...

mike_mccue There has to be some sort of fix. I'm looking at several years worth of old projects based on Kontakt 4 keys and organs and now they will not play unless I swap out the K4 instance to K5... OR remap the to the K4 libraries (which I'd like to do but...) and hose the K5 install. It seem to be a specific issue with the Service Center licensing as I can see that it will only point the license to either the K4 or K5 library and doesn't offer an alternative for running side by side. Whacky. Painful. Not a great way to end up a 12 hour run time upgrade session.
I hate when that happens....I know it would be tedious..but could you uninstall K5, reinstall K4, and then reinstall K5 to get back to where you were before the udpates? Just looking for "an out" here..

mike_mccue I wish I knew if this happened before or after the updates I did this morning. In other words, if the box set install I did yesterday didn't do it and it was just this mornings updates I could go back and do it over again in a way that avoided the problem. I'm spent... I think I'll have to surf the NI site in the next few days to see if there is a solution.
Just take a deep breath...relax...do some thinking...enjoy the 4th, and get back to when you're "fresh".

I have both K4 and K5 installed and do not find the online update method the least bit troublesome.

Thank you for the encouragement Larry. I figured out what is going on. I am amazed that there is no documentation for the issue. I was able to easily find dozens of instances of requests for help with this, dozens of instances of unsound advice offered, and not a single actual solution. I turned on Apocalypse Now Redux and hacked around until I figured out what the problem actually is: Service Center and it's inability to deal with two libraries using the same name. Thank goodness for disc images. :-) spelling
