jbow "hashish" (quotes intended) which usually came packed with various fillers like henna, and in some cases, vinyl (when people say "I wish we could go back to the days of vinyl" it has two meanings for me ) CRAP... wow, another reason to do something about the "War on drugs" at least concerning pot and hash. The WOD is never going to tbe something that can be won. It makes things worse in most cases BUT... while I think pot and hash being illegal is nonsense, where does it stop? The libertarian in me says that all drugs should be legal, the pragmatist says, "remember quaaludes?", then I have to rethink it. Some things like ludes and PCP are truly dangerous. Personaly, in my view, if it grows on this planet... I have a right to it as a resident. I am on the fence about LSD. Some people have problems, most dont... in any case, it seems to me that the more that gets legalized, the more drugs that are truly dangerous are going to be pushed by the cartels. I really don't know the right answer but pot really shouldn't be included in the discussion. I think if Dupont hadn't pushed the demonization of pot when they wanted to eliminate hemp from being a competitor with their "then new" synthetic fibers.. we wouldn't be having this discussion, at least not about pot. Just an opinion, YMMV. J I think the way to look at the legalization of dangerous drugs is to acknowledge that their illegality has never stopped people doing them anyway, so any problems anticipated in their legalization exist to begin with. In fact it could be said that their illegality actually encourages young people to take them, because of the prestige and "cool factor" of doing something which is prohibited. The bottom line is that this is a dangerous world, always has been, and it's up to parents to educate their kids to be sensible. The consequences of stupidity are instrumental in weeding out the stupid and that's how it's always been. Don't throw stones at tigers. Don't stand too close to the edge. Don't put your hand in there. Don't light candles too close to drapes. There are millions of forms of potentially fatal stupidity to contend with in this world. It should not be illegal to stupid yourself to death. If you're putting anyone else's life at risk in the process, however, then your ass should be thrown in jail. Hence, take LSD or coke or ludes or whatever you like. But as soon as you get into a car under the influence, you're abrogating someone else's rights and that's the crime. So to conclude, legalize drugs, but come down hard on drug related behavior which threatens others. I think that's the correct libertarian stance on the matter We did everything back in our youth, but no matter how crazy it got we would never have dreamed of doing anything to risk the lives of others. Drug driving was a huge no-no, for instance.

Bristol_Jonesey At least it's not as bad as it was back in the 80's and early 90's in the UK, when most of what was available was decidedly suspect "hashish" (quotes intended) which usually came packed with various fillers like henna, and in some cases, vinyl Well that takes me back - we had some stuff once which looked totally genuine until you tried to heat it, then it just fell apart and the insides looked like something from a vacuum cleaner bag. We didn't smoke it. I feel your disappointment acutely, even though it was so long ago and I wasn't even there

sharke Paul P sharke : Makes you wonder just how many people have lost their lives because of the so-called "War On Drugs" which has pushed the drug trade exclusively into the hands of criminal psychopaths. Not nearly as many as those who have lost there lives due to the War on Terror... +1 for shoehorning a completely irrelevant political issue into the discussion Chortle!
