Craig thank you once again! Having fun with midi guitar, and the clean lead that you created with Biamp Power TH3.

Marshall
Great tones Kenny, sounds wonderful to my ears!

Hi Bill ,

Thank you for the kind word here and the lovely comment you left over at my SoundCloud ....I really appreciate it

In my other pic I had the Rock amp track folder collapsed. Here is an actual shot of all the CA-X Amps I used ...
Out of the 12 Amps that are loaded from the template  I used 8 in this clip .

This template is the SONAR Showcase - CA-X Amp Platinum . cwt  .The only Mod I did was to add the newer amps .
When one loads up this template I think it still uses the older amps ( they sound Great )

The guitar tones in the section of my clip that you left a comment on over at SC ...are as follows .
My Gibson R 8 Les Paul was used for Track 10 High Gain
My Epiphone "1961" S G Special  w 2 P 90's was used for Track 12 Ultra Gain Scoop ...
That section was played in 2 separate passes , one for each guitar track ...

Hey your White Les on your SoundCloud page looks Great . I'm gonna have to visit over they and listen to a few of your tunes ....

Larry Jones
kennywtelejazz

A little while back I had ran a little experiment . . .

Kenny, these sounds are killer! Makes me wanna become a headbanger.

Hi Larry ! I'm real happy you dug the tones .You actually cracked me up with the second half of your comment .
I may have to ask my doctor if my heart is healthy enough for Headbanging
Thank you for your comment .

Hello S.L.I.P. I'm very happy you Loved it . That makes me feel real good
In my so called real day to day life , I'm not out there pounding the pavement and meeting musicians and people as much or as often like I used to ...
This SONAR Forum is one of the few places where I can feel safe enough to let it all hang out ...and just be me ...
The good The Bad and The Fugly
I'm sure glad they haven't kicked me out of here ...This place is a major lifesaver for me  and it sure cuts the edge
Thank you for what you have said .

all the best,

Kenny

The only Mod I did was to add the newer amps.
When one loads up this template I think it still uses the older amps ( they sound Great )

FYI the new versions of the original amps have been tweaked a little bit, and I think they sound a little better. You might want to try loading in the newer versions and saving them as part of your template.

Hi Craig ,

I happen to agree with you . Yes , the new amps do sound better
One can only imagine how much time ,work , and effort you have put into creating the new amps plus the new pedal boards.
A good deal of my free time in the past few days has involved me creating a new starting off point C A - X Amp template that will show up in the start screen .
After much trial and error I have come up with this one for now .

This Template is based on the original Showcase- CA-X Amp Platinum cwt.
All I did was replace the old amps with your new and improved CA -X amps ....
Console View screen capture

I hope in the future I can get to the point where I will have created my own little custom CA-X Amp template.
For now I'm still sort of piggy backing off your hard work . I hope that this is OK .

One of the things that has became very clear to me was that your amps combined with a usable template  tailored to the individual players needs can be of  great value to the SONAR user while serving a number of the greater needs one may encounter in their music and productions .

For the sake of the conversation,  a few possible examples of how one can put this concept & tool to use ...
I will use a modded CA-X Amp template for all of the examples ...the mod is the addition of one audio track .

From this point in this post , all the guitar players names have been changed to protect the innocent

Guitarist A has a little spare time and feels like practicing some new things and music on their guitar . They Dial up a backing track  and insert it into the modded CA-X Amp template , set the songs tempo . They can now use a variety of CA - X amps to practice with .
Guitarist A is feeling pretty good after a productive practice session .

Guitarist B has a densely track populated song project . They may want to experiment with guitar sounds and just have a go at unleashing their creativity in a safe controlled environment . Guitarist B may decide to create a work file mix of their project and render it as a backing track to play over and experiment with ....
Guitarist B may  soon discover that using a modded template is a very good approach when the little light bulb gets lit ...what is the little light bulb that has just gotten lit ?
Guitarist B has found out that once a guitar part has been recorded "regardless of the sound used in the template " that they can slide the guitar part over to a different CA - X amp sim and hear how that works out .
Guitarist B is sitting there thinking " Whoa  man I may have found some Hidden SONAR Mojo doing it this way I better keep this one a secret "

Guitarist C has been asked to play in a SONAR Song Forum collab . Guitarist C does what Guitarist B did and gets his guitar tracks delivered early for the first time in his life ...
All of Guitarist C collab mate are stunned something like this has never happened before

Guitarist D want's to learn how to get Carlo's Santana's guitar tone off a certain album ....
Guitarist D imports the Santana track that has the tones he is looking to copy into the SONAR CA-X Amp Sim template on the extra audio track ..
Guitarist D is having a pretty good time trying to nab the tones ...he is getting most of them ...
Then he says to himself what would happen if ?

At this point of the story things become even more fictional than they have been so far  ...
The screen shot examples I may be using are only to describe a process and they may not be a Carlo's Santana sound  ...
Guitarist D whether he knows it or not has decided to grab the SONAR Bull by the horns a go for a Ride ...
The new Mantra is what would happen if ?
Guitarist D decide to look into the Blues Lead sound as a starting off point

Being somewhat curios he decided to extract the effects chain of that amp sim to have a better look

He then says to himself what if I put the effects chain in the multi dock ?

All of the effects chain are placed in the multi dock where they can be dialed in one at a time

At this point Guitarist D is saying to himself WOW this is cool ....
I wonder what would happen if I start changing effects ?

For the sake of brevity I'm gonna show a different amp that I modded ...
I already have the screen shots of the process ...

Vintage Crunch mods w other Cakewalk Effects

New Amp ALA Vintage Crunch ...the only thing missing are the face plate controls (i don't know how to do that yet)

Any way Guitarist D is still with us , he is in his man cave / studio trying to figure it all out

thank you for letting me share ..

Kenny

Hey, that's cool!

FWIW...CW required that all amps use only Sonitus effects because then the amps would work in the demo versions of SONAR as well as Artist/Professional/Platinum. Maybe one of these days I can do a "Platinum Special" set that goes even further...or multiband processing with track templates...the mind boggles .

I think a set of CA-X with no constraints would go over well with Platinum users.

I had a funny feeling that may have been the case . .FWIW , it seems like a very good call on Cakewalks part.

The Sonitus effects Cakewalk provides in SONAR are much better than what some people have given them credit for . Plus a person with your extensive knowledge and experience can clearly demonstrate how good they really are.

This may be a dumb question:
All the promotional material shows the fx chain presets in neat 8- or 10-knob composite interfaces.
When I open my presets, I get the TH3 floor and boxes view with access to the individual eg Sonitus plugins.
How do I get the neat composite interfaces?

I'm putting myself out on a limb . Anyway I hope someone enjoys the tones .

You might also want to check out some of the clean ones. The Classic is kind of "twinnish," Sparkle and Clean make sounds I could never get out of "real" amps. I use these a lot with rhythm guitar parts.

Thank you for suggesting The Classic .

Last night I put together a little Rock Blues demo using only the CA-X TH3 Classic for all my guitar sounds .
https://soundcloud.com/guitarist-kenny-wilson/how-slow-can-you-go-ca-x-classic-th3-ampdemo
This clip is loose in a number of spots . FWIW, I plan on updating it when I have the time to do so.

As far as my impressions on The CA-X TH3 Classic goes , I happen to like it very much It has a Nice Sweet Tone
GTR Left is Classic w trem , GTR Right is Classic w no trem , Lead Guitar is the Classic w a hint of tube screamer in it .

all the best,

Kenny

OK I'm back , I had gotten a request over at the songs forum to post a clip of just the guitars using The CA-X TH3 Classic .
While having my morning coffee I opened up the project , soloed all my guitar parts and rendered a new file .
https://soundcloud.com/guitarist-kenny-wilson/ca-x-classic-th3-the-guitars-only-amp-sim-demo

This updated clip is 100 % CA-X TH3 Classic Amp sim only w my Pro Channel EQ as per track settings  .
What that means is this clip does not show the full mid range or low end sounds of the amp sim  .
If anyone whats to hear this clip bone dry  w out the EQ carving I did for the full on clip  ...just let me know here .
I can post that instead of this
I have no master buss stuff going on , normalization or any thing in this file other than the amp sim .
All the effects are from within the Amp Sim itself with the exception of my Lead part . My Lead guitar part has a hint of a Tube screamer and a slight touch of delay ....nothing else ...

Other than that , I play pretty hard so you may hear all sorts of fret buzzes and fret board neck strangulation's in the file .
Hope this clip works better .
all the best,

Kenny

Remember, these aren't presets - they're FX Chains, so you need to drag FX Chains to the FX rack from the browser (or insert the FX Chain in the FX Rack, and double-click on the FX Chain to open the interface). Does that answer your question?

I was inserting them as FX Chain modules in the ProChannel. When dragging them from the Browser into the FX rack of a track, I do see the top-level composite interfaces.
Thanks to all.

Craig, I'm super grateful for all this work. This has terrific value because you're teaching me.

@Kenny You're amazing with the cool things you do!

@Craig ... whether I drop in your chains or learn to dial them in through disassembly, it doesn't matter. You are my favorite teacher.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
