64 bit has 32 more bits...that is the difference. -Shawn

not it doesn't , 32 bit fp is a 24 bit word with an 8 bit exponent, 64 bit fp is a 53 bit word with an 11 bit exponent, exponentally that's astronomical numbers apart, Drew tell him !

how is it irrelevant, you made the staement that its was double the amount of bits in the first place ??? and as far as this thread goes its totally pertinent

I personally can't tell any difference whether it is on or off, but as a suggestion to CW, it would have been intuitively useful, if there was an option neither set it to On or Off, but rather, let Sonar decide when it would be the most crucial and let it choose to enable it automatically, depending on the process involved. Or, maybe make it a checkbox option for Export, Bounce, etc. dialog boxes if the 64-Double Precision engine is Off in Preferences.

There is already a checkbox option to enable the 64 bit engine in the Export dialog box as well as the Bounce to Track dialog The status will mirror whatever you've set in Preferences

Ahh, yes, there it is. Sorry, I stand corrected on the latter of my last post. I don't get as much time with Sonar as I'd like.
