This is a rather nice free present. I tried initially and could not even get onto the site it was so overcrowded. This morning (Still June 21 time) I tried again and got straight on and downloaded it in 2 minutes, so people keep trying. I just went back to the Arturia site and the download was fine from there.

It sounds excellent and rather like the original for sure. One thing to mention is that it can be polyphonic unlike the original so in that sense it is a bit of a bonus. It can be put into mono mode for sure but in poly mode it sounds rather classy. There are rather a lot of presets to certainly get you going too.

This was an amazing lot of people trying to get a download.

I am puzzled, however, how it began rather simply and then was later switched to Facebook and a more complicated process, for some that had no account set up.

Windows 7 64 bit, Sony Vaio Laptop Q740, 8 GB, Sonar Producer X1d, Focusrite Scarlett 18i, Korg Pa500, M-audio 61 Radium Keystation. Using Omnisphere, Trilian, Komplete 8, Morphestra, Orchestral Essentials, Evolve, Orange Tree Guitars, Addictive Drums, BFD2, Melodyne Editor, Studio One 2, Ozone 5, FabFilter.

So, by the instructions of in the email link, I went and downloaded BiotComet in order to open the Arturia Torrent file. Am I the only one who gets quesey around torrent files?

They were simply overwhelmed and had to come up with an alternative quickly.

I got my download and code just now.

I love the sound of it and have been just playing it. You must also think of this beast as a serious polyphonic instrument too. It goes well beyond the standard minimoog concept.

In the old days I used to own an Oberheim 8 voice, two oscillators per voice polyphonic beast. It could go into unison mode where all the oscillators available would be assigned to one note. This produces a very serious and fat sounding bass drone for example. When you hold a note and slowly open and close the filter the resulting sounding bass from heaven or hell erupts.

This minimoog can do it too. Just select it so it is not in polyphonic mode. Also select the unison option over on the right hand side. Now select the number voices you want to use up. eg by selecting 16 here you will get yes 16 fat moog oscillators on one note and you can also effectively detune them over on the right hand side too.

This sound is pretty fat and amazing. Same as the Oberheim. Adding resonance here too makes the sound even better. But putting it into poly mode and just playing chords is a dream come true. Have you not ever wanted to hear your fave monophonic synth in polyphonic mode?

Make sure you download the manual as well from here:

http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/downloads/manuals.html

All 95 pages of it. Well worth it. Of course some of the functions are not available but most are and many effects can be applied after anyway. Watch out for some of the effects are programmed on the presets like chorus and delay and these things were not on the original machine of course. When they are off it sounds much more realistic. Nice to be able to add these effects touches later though.

They need to make this fair to everyone who wanted this softsynth for FREE who didn't have or couldn't set up a Facebook account. That's a lot of people who were left out or was turned away when their server was overloaded. So I hope someone from Aturia or someone here will direct them to this forum thread to see that there's interest in their products and especially when a great gift like this is given away but a mass population had problems getting this offer.

That's a lot of people who were left out or was turned away when their server was overloaded.

Not everyone cares about, or wants to be on FaceBook, to be sure.

And it is another hoop to have to jump through just to do what was otherwise a simple registration and download for many people. I'm sure a lot of people were disappointed by the added obstacles.

Nevertheless, those that give away such free software make the rules, and I just have to be thankful that I, and many others here, got something valuable and useful for free.

I would hardly call signing up to Facebook a hurdle. It's a fairly easy process and you can just delete your account afterwards. Don't get me wrong I'm no fan of Facebook, but as most people already have Facebook accounts, signing in and "liking" Arturia on Facebook would help promote the company and justify the free giveaway.

Well, given that some people were rather pressed for time towards the end of the giveaway, it was another step that had to be taken in addition to having already waited for a very long time to get through. I can't assume that everyone had a limitless amount of time on their hands, either. I have a FaceBook account, myself, just because it is often required for some things.

This is still available for FREE! Just e-mail minimoogvoriginal@arturia.com and tell them you would like to be added to their newsletter. In the subject heading type, FREE Minimoog V Original.

Hey so did any of you get a registration code with yours?

And why are there two files to download?

This is good news for those that got left behind it the dust of the big rush to download in 24 hours.

I hope everyone gets this plug, because it is a classic, and a reminder of the fine work and career of Bob Moog, a true pioneer and innovator in the world of music.

Where did you get the info that this was still available for free? I could not Google anything about it and I would like to pass this on to some that didn't get it, but still want it.

Kreative, although the Giveaway is officially over... anyone who had problems receiving their download can email minimoogvoriginal@arturia.com and they'll get squared away. So even if you had issues connecting to their download site, you qualify. When you e-mail them, they'll send you the downloads as attachments. But to answer your question, I got this direct from their website and just put 2 + 2 together. http://www.arturia.com/ev...inimoogv-original.html

Hah, you're right! The installer had just put the 64-bit .dll in a weird location!

Same here. only 2 files.
one .exe for PC and one .dmg for Mac.
I emailed tech support so when/if I hear anything I'll post here.
Please do the same if you get the codes or hear anything.
