The error message that comes up is: 'The clipboard audio format does not match the current project sample rate.'

"Clipboard audio format..."? I don't think I've ever heard or seen such a message! Anyways, that should mean the sample rates aren't set correctly, but having read this thread - I wouldn't bet on it.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Does the sample rate for the wave files themselves match what the project sample rate is/should be?

So is there really no way for me to work with my old projects... Apart from importing separate clips.

JonBoh So is there really no way for me to work with my old projects... Apart from importing separate clips. There is something peculiar about your old projects. What format are they in? CWP, CWB, or something else. I can open every project I've made the last 10 years or so through various versions of Sonar so I don't know what's up with yours.

Do you still have the version of Sonar that created them?

Hi, Daveny has recommend to copy your tracks from the damaged project to a new project folder by shortcuts. While trying them you got this error message: The clipboard audio format does not match the current project sample rate. So you can try to change the sample rate of the new created song, till it fits ,means till you are able to copy this tracks into the new project . You can try all sample rates possible. good luck

This is bizarre that the only thing that changed was that he went from an Emu soundcard to the Saffire soundcard. That should make little difference. I think we're missing some piece of information that would shed some more light on this.

Hi Daveny and jonboh, That`s what I think too,off course......... To me it would be the "straightest" way for Jonboh, if he is "working" only with one (!) experienced forum member together and is discussing with one member in very short steps till the problem is solved or they are reaching a one way road. Straight and only one to be sorted. Pragi Even Ben W /focusrite offers his help, that`s customer support............

That's pretty cool that the Focusrite guy jumped in on the Sonar forum to help him out. I'll keep that in mind when I buy some new equipment. Sure wish he'd come back and tell us if he fixed it and how he fixed it.
