It looks like there is some new stuff called Studio Rock, Studio Pop and Studio Prog.

Rocky

Rocky...you'll get all those with the upgrade.....

Are you sure? Are they actual samples, or just patches/midi patterns? And they are included in the $79 upgrade?
I checked the website but it is not clear what these "Studio X" things actually consist of.

Stick...it's based on the Adpaks you own...I owned them all except Jazz Brushes, Session Percussion, and Funk...
and I got them all.   I suspect it has to do with "Retro" for the Rock Kits...but I got all of them...

The more I listen the better it is...

I don't know what Reverb they're using, but it sounds GREAT...

These kits and presets are awesome...

VERY VERY VERY PLEASED.....

Is it supposed to automatically show up in the online installer? I've bought AD a week ago, which qualifies me for a free upgrade, but the (updated) installer doesn't see anything new for me.

Have the quality of the samples been improved for AD2?
That's the only thing that's lacking for me in AD1.

Carl, to my ears...greatly...
I liked the ones in AD1, but this, to my ears, is a marked improvement...

So far, the demos are doing it for me.  Between the Fairfax, Black Velvet, Blue Oyster and RetroPlex, hmmm....

I also liked the thing they did in the video around 1:20 in the beat creation tools part - it seems similar to the EZD2 feature that changes the "density" of the groove in real-time.  And that was one of things that I was most interested in.   Again, hmmm....

Gee, thanks, Larry.   I was hoping to part with some more cash.

Thanks for the info, that will help me decide.
AD was my goto until BFD3 but I prefer writing & editing midi tracks in AD.

Carl, I have to say, this is a pretty impressive piece. AD was also my "go to" before BFD 3...
I'll let some others chime in after they've had a chance to play with it.

All I can say is WOW...just WOW.

Purchased and downloading now! I'm pretty excited about this release! I chose "The Fairfax" deal pak.

My favorite paks are Indie and Vintage Dry (don't like the tinny ride in Indie though, so I usually swap it with another sample). I bought the Black Velvet pak a while ago since a lot of folks seem to like it, but to me they sound like stage, not studio drums, no matter how I tweak. Maybe that's part of the appeal?

Looks like "Retro" might be discontinued? It's not listed under "AD2 products"!

Anyone notice when AD2 is added to Sonar, there is a click noise like a bad connection is a PA?

These are not new kits!
They are updated AD1 Kits!
I am bit underwhelmed and disappointed!
Eighty euros for upgrade with no new things!

Trust me...these are a quantum leap sounds wise...AND the Fairfax is new...
You can get that for your Adpak in the $99 deal,  and get all the current kits upgraded as well.
I'm sure there are going to be more on the way...

No Other new kit but Fairfax!
Others are updated old kits:
-Studio Pop, Rock and Prog are old AD1 kits
-Retroplex, Black and Blue Oyster are included in old Retro Adpak
-looks even some midipaks are not new but from AD1!!!

Clever way to resell them again !

That's the only thing that's lacking for me in AD1.

Only Fairfax is new kit with new samples,
but other kits are old samples (from AD1 and adpaks)

I was looking forward to buying Retro... Upon browsing through the adpacks, I would be lead to believe that it's been split in 3 packages - Black Oyster, Blue Oyster and Retroplex...

Unfortunately, at $90 a piece, so $270 for the whole thing, it marks a very significant price increase. The original Adpack was regularly sold $149.

Re: AD 2 Premiere Video 2014/05/12 18:28:13 (permalink)
Okay... I got it all downloaded and here's a few first impressions:
The Gallery window is laid out like Addictive Keys with descriptions of the AD Paks.
The Explore window is pretty cool for getting started on finding kits to work with and auditioning AD Paks for future purchase.
The Kit, Edit and FX windows are pretty similar to what I'm used with AD 1. The Kit page lost the full kit image center screen but there are more slots for additional kit pieces. For some reason I like the AD 1 graphics better than AD 2.
The Beats page is a huge improvement over AD 1. I love the new lay out and search features.
The Map window so far looks pretty similar to AD 1 to me.
I won't comment on the sound quality yet as I've only been playing with it on my laptop with the default sound card and speakers.
I am pretty happy with this upgrade and I can't wait to have a real listen to it.

I like the GUI of AD1 better as well. It was easier to read.

I'm confused about the Fairfax kit though. Is it just the BD, snare, hi hat and a cymbal? No toms? My account says it's purchased but where is the rest of it? Maybe I'm missing something.
