Addictive Drums 2

I saw a nice video about Addictive Drums 2 on the Cakewalk FB feed and it looks like it comes with X3 Producer now. I've been a producer user since it first came out. Will there be an upgrade available for existing producer users?

There is an older thread where this was discussed for days! Cake users are welcome to the $75 upgrade price. This has been a point of contention since AD2 was released. We older users felt kind of slighted for not getting a slightly better upgrade price at least. On the other hand AD1 was FREE! Why can't we be happy with the $75 upgrade for something we received for nada? It was a quite good thread for a while. Until everyone paid and upgraded! HEH!

I 've own AD for years so the X3 wasn't as beneficial to me as for others.
But I am rewarded at last and get a discount to upgrade to AD2.
I gotta wait till next months internet quota is replenished and been getting into the videos.
It is much more improved than I first suspected.

    Feature-wise, sound-wise, or both?

Both. I had to pay for the upgrade as well and I think it's worth it. I don't know if it's still available but the upgrade is $79 and you may still be able to get the Fairfax ADPak as well for an additional $20. The Fairfax ADPak is listed at over $100, I'm not sure of it's price offhand.

Same here.   Even though I actually haven't used it yet, from the playing around I've done so far I really like the Fairfax kit.   I'm happy with the AD2 upgrade as-is, but the two together make for a great upgrade combo IMHO.

I have a question.  I recently upgraded to Sonar X3 with an email stating that I would receive a free upgrade to AD2.  Well, I already own and registered AD1, so I was interested.  The instructions state that I am to register the serial number on XLN's website and I will receive a new AD2 in my account.  However, after I registered my new AD1 Serial, nothing changed!  It now knows I own two serials of AD1, but it only shows 1, and to make things worse, I still don't see any free upgrade to AD2.  I tried contacting XLN in two different emails, but I still haven't heard back.  What am I supposed to do?

I'm not sure what would happen. You should get in touch with XLN's support. Explain to them what's going on and see what they say. I already owned AD1 when I bought X3 and in lieu of having another AD1, I received two ADpaks instead.

Alex, your link doesn't work for me.

I paid 80 bucks and didn't even get an upgrade. I just got a kit with no midi samples for it.

So I'm shelving it and switching back to Session Drummer. I'm more comfortable there and the prices have dropped through the floor.

As far as I can tell, AD2 is just AD1 with all the FX we all already own lined up for you. There are a couple of things I sort of hard to recreate in Session Drummer, like switching accents between 8th and 16th notes or randomization etc. For me, it's just a wildly expensive product. It doesn't sound bad, but you can't access the midi clips without copying them all to your tracks and then saving them off to a folder.

You can't import your own samples like you can in Session Drummer.

It seems like they are working hard to make a lot of money while the making is good. Like they expect that tomorrow they're going to disappear from the shelf.

For all the excitement about it, to me Addictive Drums just another drum machine.

For the price of 1 Kit with AD, you can get 4 Chocolate Cake kits from Cakewalk for Session Drummer.

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
