Another Thought on Multiple Universes

So, I was thinking this morning about time travel and the multiple universe theory.  I considered a variation on this theory.

Instead of having multiple universes for all of the possible choices we might have made in the past, what if there were multiple universes for all of the choices we might make in the future?  Once a choice is made, a single universe is selected and extraneous universes (those we did not choose) cease to exist.  The Past remains as a single timeline, or as the sole surviving universe.  The Present now appears as an incredibly horrific, violent crisis point.  Potential universes are crushed and/or erased by the Present, killing off all that might have been, but now never will be.  Choices, for good or ill, made so casually by ordinary folk, unleash unimaginable devastation.  Worlds implode, civilizations fall, and universes vanish without a trace, victims of the Present.  Then, they're gone.  Only the Past remains.  Silent.  Uncaring.  Unmoved.  Absolute.

We wonder sometimes why we've never met anyone from the future.  Perhaps, to them, we exist only in the cold, dead, and barren Past.  Perhaps the only real time travel is into one of the possible Futures, constantly moving to stay ahead of Ground Zero - the Present.

It was at that point that I decided that I really needed some coffee.  Oh, and a bagel with cream cheese as well as a plate of becan.

and just like that, innumerable universes scream in terror, then vanish forever.  On the other hand, a Present filled with becan, good coffee, and a toasted bagle lathered with cream cheese is worth the complete annihilation of potential realities.

Interestingly enough, an alternate me in a different universe was asked to brainstorm with the producers of Fringe as well as another show called, "Teapot of Doom".  In that universe, we also all wore armadillo hats and attended dodecahedron dances.  (That's like line dancing, but much more complicated.)  It was a lovely universe, but it was vaporized when Bapu accidentally played a C Dim9.  How exactly this occurred is a mystery that has never been solved.

The idea of multiple universes with limited lifespans violates the laws of conservation of mass and energy.

The only universes where alternate universes with limited lifespans can exist are the universes where there are no laws of conservation of mass and energy.

But I'm not sure whether post count would matter there or not.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

My .000002 worth. Time is sequential and created. The future is also created to happen IN THE FUTURE. So we can't meet anyone from the future. You could meet the being who created the future though.

There was a margin of change built into the universe which still allowed for the system to continue as planned. Call it choice. Choice will never change the future on a grand scale and depending on the degree of hands on after it was created, events could be manipulated just like we manipulate a computer program(to use a primitive example).

There is no choice we can make that won't take us to a place that was not thought about before hand.

In at least one of those universes, post count is Extremely Important.  For this reason, Bapu would challenge Willy to a cage match to determine once and for all whether or not Willy would restore Bapu's "missing posts".  The rules of this paticular duel are somewhat interesting.  Available weapons each contest may find in the arena include gaffer tape, rubber bands, bubble wrap, and, of course, a tank of eels.

At one point, however, Mooch took Dora for a walk in front of the Bybee's house and paused for an unusually long time in front a deer-like decoration.  As this "Post Count Matters" universe collapsed, the resulting massive explosion of energy had nowhere else to go, so it sought a viable outlet.  Strummy, of course, blamed the cloudy discharge on an unusually "potent" vindaloo.
