Can someone explain to me why this thread was locked and deemed "bad"?
You can be vague If that's necessary.

It started to involve politics on the main forum. I'm pretty sure my other posts covered it.

Hey Keni-there`s more people out there using 8.5.3 than you think.
not everyone needs Xx for their particular situation and yes ,some people love it but going back to 8.5.3 is not a step backwards if it works for you.
take care

Thanks.
I guess I don't understand what "political" means.

Keni, you could sell everything and move to GA where, considering the comparative home prices etc... you could live like a king...
Seriously, CA is a nice place to visit but a great place to move away from.
You hang in there. Remember, things change. Sometimes things seem to be too much then in a little while you don't even remember the bad times.

I will PM you the rest o what I had to say...

Anyway, you're welcome in Georgia!!

I know someone who did exactly that.  They moved to GA and got 3 times the house for 1/4th the price

Florida is also a good place to live/find homes that are relatively much cheaper than Cali (no state tax too). Also, the gun laws here are the opposite of Cali. There's always options out there, people willing to help, and hope is not lost......you just have to find one that suits you best.
Best of luck Keni

Well... let's not veer off into lockage territory. I'm actually quite concerned about Keni now with the lack of response and would like to keep this open so he can reply and let us know he is indeed having a better day than he was yesterday.

He has mentioned in the past that his health is not good and that there isn't much that can be done for it. He's been trying to create another musical offering while he still can thus the urgency and frustration.

With financial woes that many have had to face in recent years through no fault of their own, health issues and obviously some other recent events troubling to him not being able to work effectively toward that final musical offering... well that's enough to break even the strongest of men.

Keni, I have been "listening". Let us know you're okay... or at least still with us. I know all about the darkest hours and have prepared for the abyss far more times than someone my age probably should but your work is not done yet.

We are at our most creative when we are suffering the most.

Don't let a stupid series of software upgrades put you off your path.

Hi Everybody...

My apologies for not responding to the PMs and such... I was simply exhausted and couldn't focus on web stuff anymore last night...

I am deeply moved once again by all the support I receive in this forum. In so many matters it's a long list...

You have all been a great help both in the past and now and I sincerely hope you all know how grateful and appreciative I am for it all. I guess it's another testament o they type of people Sonar/Cakewalk attracts, eh?

I am in better sorts today and I will do my best to reply to the various posts and PMs you have been so kind to send.

Funny... Returning to 8.5.3... I guess I could switch back to using it regularly, but I must still use the newer versions as well so that I can support my clients.... Some of whom chose to use X generation... So I must continue to use them all for that kind of reason. As for using it myself as a default? I could... But I would lose the use of the PC modules which are most definitely a step above the plugins I was using previously... I could manage that with the purchase of vst replacements if/when cash becomes available... But simply using the plugins I used to use does leave me with a bit less satisfaction... I have considered this many times but I continue to use X hoping that the Bakers will find ways to adjust the new program so that it accommodates my needs... I have already seen quite a lot of this since X1 was released... Sometimes it feels overwhelming when an issue as constantly used and needed has problems... Zoom? I for one need and use this possibly more than any other single command (except maybe Play).. So doing any work at all is a constant barrage of difficulty... Exacerbated by the stress of my clients watching the situation.... Making me even more stressed...

In the middle of such, the DOJ situation happened... I guess you can imagine elevated stress at that point, eh? ;-)

I have come to terms with most of the issues I have with X and if/when these zoom issues get fixed and resolved, I will probably become a happy camper with Sonar once again... I was approaching such when they introduced Lanes which threw in a big monkey wrench to start, and have been compounded by many issues accompanied by this... So I don't believe I need to go back to 8.5.3... I just have to weather the issues until they are corrected...

Thanks for the many suggestions regarding doing this... I have to admit that it has been a thought on my mind from the beginning...

Not to diminish the many things that are good improvements over pre-x Sonar. I don't currently have need for a number of things the new GUI is more robust for such as multi monitor... My machine's graphic card supports 3 monitors... But I only own one dvi monitor and can't afford buying another... I have another PC that is setup, but not used as it needs a monitor... And supports 4 monitors simultaneously, but it's once again divi, and my only divi monitor is a lady being used on my DAW... Wouldn't that be fun? 3 or 4 monitors running Sonar? So I dream of such a time...

So once again, thank you all big time for all the concern, support, an suggestions. I hope no one else suffers the things I do, but I sincerely hope I can help all of you in some manner over time... My gratitude and apologies to all and I will reply to the individual posts and PMs asap...

Seth... My special thanks to you and the Cakewalk team for your hard work producing such an excellent tool/product as well as the amazing amount of personal connections you continue to support. I'm grateful to you beyond words... I had no intention of my post leading this way but my emotions were out of control...

My clients are returning this evening and I no longer own a gun, so I don't expect that to be an issue tonight! ;-)

So as one last thought in this post... My issues that caused my Sonar stress are the zoom issues... Flavored with some backward compatibility issues...

Here's hoping that some fixes and changes to the zoom issues are quickly addressed... Backward compatibility? While being a sore spot on occasions, I'm sure it's not near top of the list issues and rightfully so... But I hope they get fixed for everyone's ease soon.

Thank you all... I will truly do my best to keep my emotions and personal life out of my posts. I see that I have allowed this to happen far too often in the last few years as my life has become so difficult in this time.... I am very fortunate to be connected to so many good people!

I can't say thank you often enough!

Keni

I am glad to see you posting and having a better day.

I'm sure you have your own ideas as you are far more experienced than I on the subject but editing was my main point of frustration within X2. Not particularly due to design but because of things not working and very erratic behavior. My plan was to purchase the base package of one of the major competitors that I had used before and had just put out a supposedly successful release or the full package of the full featured open source DAW (and as usual both shall remain nameless but you can probably glean which platforms I am referring to) and then after tracking and editing migrating the waves into Sonar to take advantage of the, IMO, superior mixing tools and environment.

But obviously my needs as just an upstart working on my own will be very different than yours. Either way don't let the proverbial bastards get you down. Good luck and remember even in the darkest of times tomorrow always has the possibility of being a better day. We just gotta survive long enough to find out... and occasionally give it a kick in the pants to up the odds.

Cheers, buddy.

I don't think any of us like to see a fellow member down, but it happens to the best of us. When it happens there are plenty willing to help and admittedly a few who like to take it the other way, but that's life right?

I hope you're feeling better. Don't know the whole story I'm sure. I can only tell you some of the things that have helped me in the hope that it might help. Step away take a deep breath. Looking at the big picture and what's really important makes everything else look a lot smaller . Then I realize that it doesn't just look small it IS small. Most trivial things in life grant a re approach if the first one was unsuccessful. Letting things happen instead of trying to make things happen and realizing in that process we can work better with as opposed to against. Most things will happen regardless so it's becomes more about the approach and mindset than the thing itself. In working with or around we influence our surroundings more.

Sometimes the inevitable happens and no amount of working with seems to be helpful because the outside is all about fighting something. You can still take charge of that situation. There are things you can do. Options are seldom exhausted and if they are that leaves other options.

As you have said it wasn't all about the software. Stare at almost any program for weeks on end and I can see it becoming a source of frustration if you let it. Maybe diversify if possible. Either throw in the towel or work through it, the choice is up to you as well as the response.

Glad to see you still posting Keni!

No need to apologize, and we know you had no intention of making a scene, you were reaching out. Our biggest concern was to make sure no unsavory characters were going to come in and agitate the situation even more. That was the last thing you needed.

I know this thread probably should have stayed in X3, since it's now ultimately come back around to SONAR, but the type of crowd that hangs out in the CH is the type you needed to hear from.

Have a safe and happy weekend everyone.  Don't get too much gas from NAMM
