Another miserable session with X3d
Yeah, I know.... Everybody loves it... I'm not in that camp right now. The amount of problems I run into in real world sessions with any of the X generation releases is astounding... And I've had plenty of time and issues to practice on...
Zoom! What can I say that I have not said many times before. I spend more time wiggling around the program trying to get the zoom I need over and over as well as time spent relocating my place in the song after all these ministrations...
It's been shown over and over that there are situations where zoom (via holding the z key and performing a lasso of the intended area) does not work correctly and can easily confuse location even more...
I continue to run into more problems when bringing a pre-x sonar song into x3... This session? Trying to open lanes (another thing I still dislike intensely) on one track continually causes Sonar to crash...
Don't ask for a recipe as they are far too many and not something I could document while customers are expecting results. There are far too many...
Bad mood? Yes... California has decided to escalate the battle for freedom and now is sending out CA DOJ task forces collecting legally purchased from citizens in their homes! They arrived in force and took mine yesterday... In the middle of a difficult session with Sonar's failures....
So here I stand ready to do battle with all the users who will now tell me this is all user error and that I must read more of the help notes and conform to the new way...
New way? No way! Just things not working!
Sorry for the rant.... I'm beyond angry right now...
Keni

I am guessing the latter.
ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

I do feel for his struggles and if it is the latter that was confiscated, that has to increase the frustration exponentially. if it is the former and he is beyond angry, guns beuing gone may not be such a bad thing . Either way i hope he gets the take lanes thing figured out.

Everything Keni mentioned, except the DOJ confiscation, is documented by others as well. This is not a Mac thing. Zoom has problems - true. multiple threads on this. Strange behavior when opening older projects - true. multiple threads on this. Take lanes - lots of posts on this, including from me. This is less of a bug than it is sometimes awkward work flow.

I had onpe registered gun... They took that and 1000 rounds of ammo. It will now be tied up in the system for at least 6 months at which time I will be notified as to how I wish to dispose of it. I can sell I through a licensed dealer, transfer it to a family member (?), or allow it to be destroyed, but they will not return it! I must now seek other measures...

I can sell I through a licensed dealer, transfer it to a family member (?), or allow it to be destroyed, but they will not return it! Guns being gone is a bad thing. I feel badly for people who have been involved in cases where guns are an issue, but it's the only thing in the world that guarantees our freedom. When only those in power have guns, we are no longer governed by wisdom, but governed by force. When all the legal weapons are collected ( and California means to and has already begun to do so) then only criminals will have guns as they do not own legal guns! I must now seek other measures... And I know many alternatives... Very foolish actions by people of questionable goals... Sonar... Zoom... Bah, I have a feeling this forum will be hearing less from me... Keni

In April 2013, California modified its interpretation of what is criminal and mentally stable. By these new guides they are now systematically collecting all guns as a parking ticket can be interpreted as criminal and if you've seen a Dr. And received prescribed meds for stress or other such issue, you may now be considered mentally unstable if they wish it... California has long wished to separate from the US and it appears they have begun. They are the only state in the country doing this!

I'm curious...why is your legally registered gun being confiscated? Is it some kind of model that has since been made illegal in the state? It still would suck, but if that's the case, it sounds less like gestapo action and more like simply a matter of disagreeing with the gun laws of your state.

OIC...so, i'm guessing Cali is trying to do a blanket confiscation of anyone deemed "unstable" which could range from the criminally insnae to a housewife using qualudes to cope with her bratty teen?

Not trying to get into politics..mostly because I hate politics , but also because it vioates the TOS here, but I suspect stressed out gun loving folks may be more likely to skip telling their doctor they are dealing with stress/depression if they know it will lead to their guns being taken. The idea of a state full of overstressed gun collectors lying to their doctors and thus not getting their meds is disturbing.

For all the pretty little tools Xx has given me, my work has become increasingly more frustrating. Right now if they gave back all the money I have spent on Xx and assorted extras for it I would gladly go back to 8.5.3 and die soon without as much anger as I currently have.
I know that's not gonna happen so all that cash and time has been mostly a waste of my life. I did nothing I couldn't have done in 8.5.3 other than using PC plugins instead of VSTs...
I probably shouldn't be posting all this here, but as the cards get played this May be my last opportunity. I'm looking for a way out of this life and I intend to find it!

That's the scene in a nutshell... My only escape was Sonar and I'm so tired of fighting with that too... The most simple of chores in the past.... Selecting an area to zoom to full screen has not been working correctly... And for mr more of the time than it works... Adding lanes into the equation increase dose problems by establishing different zoom laws for lanes and now I can barely get anything done with grace... I'm sure someone is gonna chime in telling me how it works perfectly for them and I'm happy for them... I've been using Cakewalk products since they began and never had the amount of issues and problems I currently deal with using X3.... Yes, I know... Next they'll tell me that I haven't learned how to use it... I know the tools.... They are the problem!

Thanks... But I believe I am beyond help and my last refuge where I have held onto any sanity was Sonar... It is no longer helping, but now adding to the problem... And I know they are not going to change because of me... A nobody who means nothing to the world...

Alright guys, not trying to be a jerk, but I can't see how this thread isn't going to turn into a politics fight. I'm going to have to throw on the lock. Keni, feel free to chat with others via PM/E-mail/etc if you want to discuss this matter. A word of advice from living in Massachusetts, don't talk about this particular situation anymore on a public forum. Remember, anyone can read this forum.

I feel the same way when people tell me how great and trouble free Logic is and still find myself frustrated with it. I think when most people tell you how it is working for them, it is done to provide hope that there may be hope. It's more of an "If my dumb ass can do it anyone can!" than trying to imply you don't know what you are doing. Plenty of people swear by Logic and pro tools but i find them both horribly unintuitive and painful to work with, particularly PT.

I had a few requests to keep this open so that they can communicate with Keni since he wasn't replying to PM's. Keep this positive. I will check in here later, if this thread progresses down a negative path, people are going to be held accountable for what they say. As a general request, please stay away from the government/firearm law talk as it tends to make people very upset and it too easily de-rails a thread. This is a multi-national and multi-cultural forum. We're all ambassadors and we don't want an atmosphere that's volatile on the forums. I'm sure you all can agree.*edited for clarity*

Thread got locked while I was trying to post this initially... Keni, man. Why don't you just start using 8.5 again? I know it sucks being out the cash and you want to use it so you don't feel it was a waste but dude... it isn't worth the level of stress it seems to be causing you. I was getting into that mindset a while back too but didn't have any other solutions in my toolkit so I was merely going to shift over to another DAW (the really inexpensive but supposedly rock solid one that shall remain nameless). If 8.5 works for you it's better to just use that, create and be happy (or as happy as possible) than eat yourself alive over something that you simply do not like. And I hope you haven't viewed my posts in the past as some kind of smug knowitallism. I truly wanted to see you get what you needed out of it. If that is not possible then junk the bugger. Stay safe and sane, dude. I know that feel, bro. I know that feel.

Keni, Is "getting out of this life" as you put it to mean the rat race of X3 or the big "LIFE"? If its the "rat race of X3" then as other have said, try going back to 8.5.3 for your customers. If its LIFE then seek some counseling, please.
