Yeah , so what's your point ?
I'm not digging the fact that you are putting out a mixed message
Do we really have to go here ?
you can if you want to…...I won't

Kenny

Mac VS PC is the most boring debate ever.

Clearly you have not been involved in Les Paul vs. Strat or modeling vs. a real amp discussions, which makes Mac vs. PC debates look positively thrilling!

But really, this isn't Mac vs. PC, it's older PC vs. newer PC. Fact is sometimes older software won't run on newer machines. The simplest solution I've found is to have a removable C: drive. I still have my "non-transferable" XP and Vista programs on drives and can boot from those systems as needed. As time goes on, though, I find less and less need for either one. Haven't booted into XP for years.

I abandoned XP a long time ago for Windows 7...and never looked back. Just about all my old programs work fine with W7. Any that don't also get abandoned. Most of the newer programs I have are all way better than the old programs anyway. I have no intention or desire to upgrade to Windows 8....I'm perfectly happy with Windows 7.

Rather than swapping out drives I have used multiple partitions on my computers. My Internet computer has a Win7 partition and a WinXP partition, and my DAW has partitions for Win8, Win7 and WinXP. So changing from Win8 to WinXP is as easy as re-booting my computer and selecting the XP partition. On my Internet computer, I don't use WinXP very often - it only contains some older emails and a few older apps and I haven't booted to it in months. On my DAW, the XP partition contains an older version of Wavelab and older Sonar versions and P5, but I also use it for testing so I boot to it often. The Win8 partition contains X1, X2 and some other more current apps. I prefer multi-partitions to changing out drives, but then again I'm kind of lazy.

nice try Bro ,   I will give you a +1 on the Mac VS PC debate
other than that , it really breaks my heart to have to tell you this ….
the simple fact of the matter is your opinion is not the least bit important to me ….

Kenny

As the OP of this thread I request that we please stick to topic. It's an XP thread not a Mac vs PC thread or be randomly rude to forum members thread. Thankyou for your understanding. Moving on then...

once again Bro , you do need a reality check

first let me remind you that this is exactly what I said  in my original post in your  thread

Microsoft can do and say what ever they want to say ..I don't really care ...

I bought a Win 8 64bit machine for one reason alone I wanted to upgrade to SONAR X3 PE….no other reason

as far as me letting go of XP for good over here , FUGETABOUTIT

when I'm not using SONAR in Win 8 or XP , I'm on my Mac …..

I really do keep it that simple

please explain to me how this is off topic ….

I didn't make this post about PC VS Mac so as far as I'm concerned your logic and argument is very weak

I'm running SONAR X3 e PE on a Win 8 64 bit computer ...
I also happen to be running an off line fully dedicated XP DAW that is fully max'ed out …..
SONAR PE happens to be inexpensive compared to some of the programs I happen to be running on my XP DAW
I have no desire to have to replace thousands of dollars worth of software that I have licensed to me and that I use
to produce my music just to transfer over to W 8 64 bit and have things consolidated on a machine with an OS
I don't care for …when I'm not doing music w SONAR X3
a lot of the software companies pretty much force you to pay full price if you miss a couple of upgrade cycles
one of the reasons I have remained loyal to Cakewalk in the first place is the simple fact that Cakewalk does indeed treat their customers very good and I happen to like SONAR as my main main compositional software app
so staying true to topic XP stays it ain't broke over here so it don't need to be fixed

I happen to have 3 separate computers that are full out DAWs ..they are used in my music productions ..
I don't have a problem using each of them for their strengths ...

BTW …...it might interest you to know that I have been here 5 years as a member before you even showed up

so back the eff off sport ...it is my humble opinion that  you happen to come off  like some sort of  an online  control freak ...
now tell me …….how am I being rude to you by calling you out on your BS ….

I have simply tolerated your presence here on this forum as people have tolerated my presence here
You seem to have no problem find every little fault you can possibly find with the software ….
Yeah, I know it's all in the name of you improving the Cakewalk software right?
where would Cakewalk and SONAR be with out your input heh ?

just about every thread I've seen you start here on this forum has to be the official Cakewalk Alex bla bla bla….thread ….
and then you have the nerve to ask me to respect you because you are the OP ?
I truly feel sorry for you Alex that you can't seem to understand that I'm not here to follow your script

 ….that's not the way I roll …..

Kenny

PS . I play a historic Gibson R 8  58  Les Paul , a few 50's style Fender Strats , a couple of Fender Teles  that were designed in the early 50 's….
I love to play them out of my 1966 Fender Vibrolux …
geeee now ….I's starting to  wonder is all that stuff out dated …
maybe I should just  go out and replace all that old junk with a bunch of new garbage I see in the musicians friend catalog
yeah right FUGETABOUTIT

Alex is pretty much illustrated how some products are being marketed, this has a lot to do with the Dominant Role of the Primitive Brain in Decision-Making, (basically the emotional)...

"just google it..."
Research on how executives process information and make decisions on who they are going to do business with and what products or services they choose has consistently reinforced the dominate influence that the primitive brain areas play in these processes, probably due to the inherent personal risk associated with these kinds of decisions. While you want to believe that the decisions you are asking your buyer to make are going to be made on rational or logical criteria, the fact is that the decisions they make are more instinctual and being driven by motives residing in these two primitive areas of the brain. (the reptilian complex could be as old as 500 million years, with the limbic system evolving several hundred million years later in our evolutionary process. Both of these structures are much older than the cerebral cortex, that part of your brain that allows you to think and solve problems...)

You this read wrong....
