I use 2 BCF2000s and a BCR2000. It all works great! It has a mackie control emulation for SOnar but I use it better..
I use it as I would a VS700. I insert the VS700 control surface plugin and the bcf2000s are in BC mode. NOT MACKIE mode. I didnt like that fact that in mackie mode you have to press SHIFT + MUTE to solo a track. So I messed arround, did some midi translations with Midiox and its all good.
The good thing about the BCF controllers is that you can assign any midi message you want to the controls when you are in BC mode.  So I decoded the midi messages the VS700 uses and assigned them on the 2 Bcf2000s and the BCR2000 and I use like a VS700. One bcf2000 and the bcr2000 goes with a VS700 control surface plugin for the 1st 8 tracks and the second bcf2000 with a 2nd control surface plugin for the next 8 tracks. Mostly I use the 2nd bcf2000 to control busses and the st one for tracks. It all works great!!  I can even insert effects without a mouse.
It took me a lot of time to decode the vs700 midi messages but it all works great!
THE ONLY THING MISSING IS LCD DISPLAYS. Something Im searching on now with midibox or arduino.. its possible.

V-Studio has motorized faders and is perfectly integrated.  Since Roland is apparently not going forward with this product, you can probably find one for not too much—but it would still be more than a few hundred bucks.  The Nucleus is great but it costs even more.

A SONAR V-STUDIO 700 will likely be,Way More than "a few hundred bucks,"especially down here",to put This into Perspective,I bought a V-Studio 100,for $165,and I was Totally Thrilled with it at first,for THAT price!

Maybe You mean a VS-100?.....No I see you DO MEAN a SONAR V-Studio 700-wow,even if Roland/Gibson/Tascam,will "Not" be going forward, that is Still Super Cheap down here, even privately.

Then I wrote in a Cakewalk Forum, that I 'm not so sure[something kinda similar]that the "Round Trip Latency" wasn't that  good" at 11ms[lowest possible I was Able to get ATT],now it's around 9.1ms-good,but  just to play back perfectly "It's a pretty high" 256 buffer[way Higher RT LLP].

I then wrote back, and admitted, that I may have been hasty,in my judgement[again something "like that"]and another forum member"Charlie Roy" said[again I do NOT have his EXACT reply in front of me]....I'm still a ONE finger typist it's good you realized,"your mistake"and came to admit it etc.

Now I use the VS all the time[even watching vids, repeat digi TV-no internet TV here]-you have to do pseudo "hacks, and torrent sites for that......not into that, seems like the rip off/progression some call it,that was inevitable, especially when Mettalica became "the band to hate",after they took Napster to court, over mass NON Royalty downloads-worldwide news down here,at that time.

I still kinda agree with how THEY proceeded, back then, though I Must Admit,my all time fave of Their's,was the Much Maligned[still is in some circles]  ...And Justice For All..."No Audible Bass guitar" something I thought was revolutionary at the time[also when I FIRST got see them,on the "Damaged Justice Tour,BEFORE the mainstream Black Album-it was like a "secret"world wide club,as the gig I saw was Sold Out Months before]I was living in "inner city" Sydney-doing a lot of gigs at times.and the Famous Guy,who let me "Mind His House",while he went to the US for a tour, some of IT,supporting"Janes Addiction" the first IMNSHO big"alternative band" to really make IT![Grunge???? NOT no,that was what we call "noise bands" today, and THAT started in my hometown[I Was NOT into it much[?] At That Time 18/19]in the very early 80's[when our Real "Grunge" was sorta invented],when I was maybe  into Dokken-George Lynch: My Favourite, post VH,[so called "Hair Band"?]player, but iT IS,also Gary Moore[after Lizzy!,on His own, with Ian Paice,Neil Murray,Don Airey]!!,as far as the sort of NON 60's/70's players, though I liked most of the later Blues,It's his 82-88 is what I Much prefer!!!] VH  well my first "Real listen[Certainly-first 4/5 LP's!!] etc.....Still Exactly The same taste's in Rock, anyway!

That 1st Mettalica gig,was my first,un-blinkered view of metal I thought was mainly for"meat heads" ha ha hah, especially as I STILL like the same stuff today, though "Drop Cflat Rubber Loose Tuning" bands with ONLY growly-non melodic-anywhere vocals, and Lo and Behold NO LEADS!!!! are Still something This 49 on Thur.,still does Not Get INTO at All-Getting Old? For sure!

Ummmmm Topic,"control surface or not ???" that VS-100 I got, I still haven't used it as a "control suface"[1 motorised fader,a kind of channel strip?,made/released mid 2009?]All NOT,for Me,ANY better[though how would I REALLY know....Right?]than a "touch pad/left/right buttons",than the "2010/Q1 2011" by only  a few DAYS!!!Dell Laptop I'm using to type THIS,and use X2a P. on mostly.

Extremely luckily I bought the "Q1 intel Sandy Bridge/Q2  2011"model  for me-[phew,That Could Have Been Very very ugly]the previous-looks identical,2010 model, was wholly unsuitable as a DAW computer,as attested to on GS by a forum member, pointed out,the "One with with a  high dollar made in Germany-breakout cable "Interface, only x2 XLR input"[BUT IT HAD.....ADAT! real 8 ch. 48k ADAT,not just S/PDIF],although as I use the VS with USB 3.0 on my Lap[after a driver[firmware?not sure of the diff. ha hah, update]though as I have Never really used "coaxial" SPDIF enough, and never even used "optical SPDIF",so why,or would I be That Envious that the "German Baby....that has ADAT,when a 2009 VS-100 has[only!S/PDIF-coaxial only]???meaning I'm Still Not 100% on/about THAT last part!.
Cheers
Bob
