@Keni - curious...

Are you using any of the following?:

a) Drum maps
b) Track templates.
c) More than two audio outputs from a single synth.

If there are combinations of the above please let me know

.. and when it crashes what is approx the last action you did to make it happen?

Thanks..

[Oops!] Almost forgot...

Most of the crashes happen when changing song projects, but I have also had some occur during various chores that im uncertain which were in process..

Thanks..

Hi Dok...

It only hurts when I do this......... ;-)

No, seriously...

a) no drum maps
b) yes, I used both a song template and track templates on most of my songs...
c) yes, Only for Drums though.... but all synth tracks are frozen on all of these songs which were started in either X2 or X3 and if created in X2, also moved into X3 during development....

Thanks for your interest...

I just had a 4 hour session, without a single problem / issue, with a quite large (for me) project. It seems very stable to me, except the 2 crashes I had yesterday with MIDI velocity clip gain. Happy camper, here in bakerville

Unfortunately I'm getting tons of crashes (and 15 minute white screens) with Dorchester, which hadn't been a problem for a long time... :(
Anything from duplicating a track, to enabling an effect, to looping playback seems to cause instability.
That said, I've also got new plug-ins (Speakerphone, newest UAD software), have recently updated all my drivers (FF800, Matrox MXO2, Nvidea card) and am using Rewire, Vienna Pro, among other things...
So... lord knows what the root of it all is!
Just wanted to vent I guess, having a particularly frustrating day slowed down with constant reboots and a deadline looming... not looking for a solution cause I don't have time to actually troubleshoot - just time to vent on the forums I guess haha!

I feel your pain. I never update a bunch of stuff at once. I'll do one, see how it plays out, then the next one. Make sure your video cards didn't throw in extra drivers...

You should check your Windows restore logs. I'm betting a whole bunch of that stuff create restore points before installing. You could work backwards to isolate when the problems started occurring or simply just find a restore point before you started installing all that stuff (Windows creates them automatically whenever you install new updates and I think Sonar does too but I usually creat emy own just to be safe).

If you go back to before all those installations then you can reintroduce eveything one at a time doing tests along the way to see what borked out.

I do not use UAD stuff but I have seen quite a few reports of potential conflicts associated with those plugs and I think the Bakers have even been addressing those issues in their updates. However I haven't really been following the issue. Just something to maybe search for info on/watch out for.

Of course new drivers can introduce weirdness as well so I'd do a google search to see if others are having similar problems. Not all "new" drivers are better than the old ones and sometimes are unnecessary (for example I am on Win7 so if a comapany released a driver that just updates for Win8 it may not be necessary... especially if my current driver is problem free).

You could of course contact support and ask them if they know of any issues associated with what you have recently installed.

Cheers and good luck.

BTW... I've been poking a little at Dorchester today (very light stuff in my Test project). I did get a slight whitescreen while loading the project but it was like under two seconds. Just not really usual. I do have my interface buffers set low for live input and I tried to load very soon after opening Sonar (I usually wait for a little bit to let Sonar do it's inital scans).

All I've been doing is loading and removing PC modules (testing something out) and trying out some bank navigation, storage, recall stuff in GR5. That all seems to be rather smooth and trouble free but obviously not a real test.

Back to my manuals.

As far as updating the "what's next" page - personally I look forward to seeing what feature or tool replaces Drum Replacer as the next big thing.

Really bold of Cake to do "What's next", rather alone doing that.
And TBH, I'm not sure it's smart from a sales point of view.

"What's New" though will always impress - it's what most get in a year every month, not far from.
And also show dedication on doing fixes etc.

Sales psychology is more about building imagination and dreams forward, expectations and so on.
We might think we want all the facts, but really, we don't....

but as Manuel in Faulty Towers used to say
- I know noooooooooooothing....

Oh yeah, it is certainly a trade-off of sorts between giving away the farm and helping to keep the animals interested.

But so far, it sure seems like it's working out pretty well!  Not 100% perfect, of course, like any new production and delivery system.  But being just a few months in it sure does "feel" like the improvements and enhancements are tangible within this new system.

Haha yes, I was just feeling bold that day I guess...  I ended up rolling back to version B and all seems well so far (although a corrupted project from version D still wouldn't open, so I had to give that hour or so of work up).

Thanks!  Ya, I've always had some problems with UAD (meters and GUI on UAD plugs freezing constantly, needing to restart to get them responding again) but for better or worse I love the sound of them so I push through... someday I'll have a limiter that has functioning meters for more than 30 seconds... someday...
