I think merging the FSF with this thread and leaving it here might be OK...

As for when X4 might come out, giving hints and times about upgrades and not keeping to them is a BAD idea, just ask Larry, lol.

all I'm really hoping for in "X4" is touchscreen 'stuff'...  the rest of Sonar works beautifully for me.  yeah man, there is always some quirky stuff with software but at the end of the day, I continue to make a living with this product.  My day gig is a producer using Sonar.  There are absolutely NO show stoppers in X3e.  Happy New Year!

It's 2015. X4 better come with a self producing engine that makes music for you, a midi editor that arranges based on brainwaves and my freaking hoverboard.

I don't think its going to be called X4, new year, new company, new version, and the number four sounds old in 2015, maybe sonar X2015 or sonar X2016 :)

I happen to agree with Craig that it's a good thing to not have a "scheduled" release annually.  I think it is far better to let the Bakers cook up the next release to perfection and not rush it out.  As to new features, I would always like to see stability, compatibility and audio efficiency improved, but I don't know what they could really add to a new release that would DAZZLE the buyer.  I mean, it's got a lot of everything that I can think of.  Unless it might be something like the Cubase features called Chord Track and Chord Assistant...

I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left...

One thing that may become a necessity and would certainly be a strong selling point today would be thorough handling of the new EBU Loudness Recommendation R118.  An EBU Mode with proper meters, total project loudness calculation, etc.

Stability, compatibility and audio efficiency would certainly dazzle a new buyer, even if some of us are getting used to it.

I hope when they release it they make everyone drive 20 miles in dense traffic, while listening to Traffic, make you wait in line for at least ten minutes and send you off on your way because they don't have any left. That way you can drive 20 miles back through all that dense traffic until you make it back home wondering why you left your house in the first place since it's software and can be bought online. You can feel good though. When it comes out you'll be prepared.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.
