Not a hard core gamer by any stretch, but I do play some AI/RPG games occassionally.  My son and I play Warcraft on the internet from time to time (not WOW, WIII) or Starcraft, Diablo.

Playing games with other people can lead to socialization.  It just doesn't seem worth the risk to me.

I also repulse trolls.  Actually, that's the primary reason I'm not chased away from the Coffee House right away.

I just finished Killzone 3 in 4 hours. VERY disappointed in that game. They hyped it up like the best FPS ever and I just rolled right through it. Good thing it was a free rental from my local vid store or I would have been pissed. I don't buy any PS3 games. Why when I can rent them from my local vid store for @ $6.99 for 5 days? If I would bought Killzone 3 for $60 I would have been furious.

I would have to say the best FPS of all time has to be a tie between Far Cry 2 and Red Dead Redemption. Bioshock comes in 3rd. I was disappointed with Bioshock 2. Took me 2 solid weeks to finish Red Dead and 2 months to finish Far Cry 2 and both never really end. You could keep playing forever (Far Cry 2 also as long as you don't jump off the final cliff of no return). Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare was very good too, but didn't come close to the original.

Did you hear Duke Nukem Forever is coming out in a couple months for the PS3! YAY!! I hope I'm still out of work then [LOL] (and my wife is gone on one of her work trips). I'll get a case of regular Coke (cant do diet, need the sugar and caffeine when doing a gaming marathon hehe), 10 family sized bags of tortilla chips, make a 5 gallon pot of home made chilli, and not move off the couch until I'm finished with Duke. Being forced in to retirement at such an early age does have it's benefits. :)

Yeah, I'm a bit of an FPS gamer. :) I also like old 2D side scroller's on PC. Monster Bash 1 ~ 3, Xargon 1 ~ 3, Vinyl Goddess, Duke Nukem (Original series), Commander Keen 1 ~ 5, Diamond Dave. Castlevania was awesome too. I don't have the console anymore so thank God for emulators ;).

Then 3D came along. Best game ever on PC was/is Quake (the original game). I have all of the expansion packs, official and 3rd party. The expansion packs are very rare and hard to find. I made backup DVD of Quake 1 and 2 with all expansion packs, on-line mods, and Open GL support. Just pop it in and away you go right off the DVD. I still play it after all these years once in a while.

Did I mention Duke Nukem Forever is coming out for PS3 soon? Oh yeah, I did. Yay! We've only been waiting 12 years! :)

I just hope, for the sake of the faithful out there, that DNF lives up to the (extremely high) expectations.  I'm thinking the PS3 forums may be a rather toxic place if the game bombs.  (No pun in ten did)

My son is really into LRP... Live Role Play or Larpping..... He's been playing the same character in Xanodria for a number of years now with a number of his friends. His best friends Dad was one of the story writters.

If you've ever seen the Movie Role Models, I guess it's kind of like that.

About once a week, sometimes twice, I play Call of Duty:Black Ops in a private match with my family.  Using headsets it is fun to chat while playing.

    Nice to hear your games!

Just got a copy of Crysis 2 recently, and it's the game i'm trying to save time for.

In my entire life, maybe i've played about a thousand games, from Sega Saturn, Famicom, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2 and PC.

    @Bub
I was looking for Red Dead Redemption last time but it was out of stock! I also wanted to try Call of Pripyat. Have you tried Fallout: New Vegas? VERY sweet game (Like an enhanced version of 3).

My latest disappointment was SC2. For a large number of years, it underwhelmed my expectations. I waited since 2003 or 2004 (I think i was 11-12 years old when i heard the news that they were making SC2 and Diablo 3, and i waited my whole childhood for those games to come out)

    Anyone play MMOs?

(Anyone have Garena? You can play Left4dead, Warcraft (And the infamous DOTA), Starcraft, Killing Floor and lots of games under Garena, which is a gaming platform which allows one to connect with players, via room system.)

I enjoy playing Civilization (IV and V).  I'm just lame that way.

It's not that I am actually civilized, though.  I just like to pretend that I am.

In what seems like a previous lifetime, I was once ranked in the top-25 for Quake I (out of over 400,000 gamers tracked).  My CounterStrike team also made it to the #1 place in one of the online gaming leagues as well (I used to run the second-most popular servers on the west coast back then - 'twas fun playing with a 7 ping and stomping punks half my age...  ).

Of course, these accomplishments tend to get weird looks from prospective employers when they see them listed on my resume...

That's funny cross dressing always gets a look like that from them on mine.

There must be something to do with cross dressing in Quake I presume then.

Well yeah, stuff like that, Championship Manager, Flight Sims, Trainz etc. etc.

I even went through a patch of developing 3D planes for MS Flight Sim and had a paper published by MS on using their modelling tools once.

It's all quite awhile ago now so I don't have any current games.

I don't seem to be able to make enough time to do a much music as I'd like now let alone play games much although I do still enjoy the occasional 'flight' around the neighbourhood.

I never got to play Quake I. The Quake that i started playing was III, and that was also the time when there was a competition of Quake III Arena on tv (The same TV that hosts Game Sauce), although the first Quake III i played was in the Dreamcast, so it was like playing FPS on xbox.

Before Quake, I played Doom.  Before that, I played Castle Wolfenstein.  Before that, I played dodge ball.  It's like quake only more horrific.  The monsters are scarier and when you get hit, you really feel it.

    I'm old school.
On occasion I'll check into my old Final Fantasy XI. I still keep the account paid up for some reason.
No time to play much because everything in that game requires at least 4 hours attention.

7 ping is what you get when your PC is sitting right next to the server on a T1 line.  Hehe...

I used to play WoW quite a lot.   Started way back in the day and took my guild through MC and BWL, (wow that was a lot of fun).

Recently I was playing a lot of SC2.   How can you say that game was a disapointment???   IMHO, one of the best RTS's out there.   I was usually top 10-20 diamond till I started working on more music and less SC2.

I also got a PS3, but haven't played it much lately.  Red Dead Redemption was fun, although I didn't get through it.

Also I really liked Metal Gear Solid 4.   God of War, Heavenly Blade (or somethign like that)  Motorsport pacific rim (I think that's what it's called).

It's just really hard to get in much game time while also working on music, working at a job, and keeping the house from being a disaster.

I mean, it could have been better IMO. Graphics-wise to be specific, but the engine's good!

Assuming that you are talking about SC2, agreed.

The graphics are ok, but nothing amazing (the cut scenes are though).   Game play for sure is where it really shines.

So much more depth than say C&C (especially the latest one which sucked).

Miguel, you do know that Crysis installs a rootkit on your computer, right? Google Crysis and Rootkit. Too bad, because I am a big fan of Far Cry.

I have my fingers crossed about Duke Nukem Forever. Fascinating story there. But ultimately somebody who is not a developer got the code in a settlement and rushed it into production to make some quick cash. Doesn't necessarily mean it'll suck, but as a longtime fan of Duke I'm not getting my hopes too high.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
