Install went smoothly. Works fine, it scanned and pulled in all my synths and effects, opened up and played my orchestral project perfectly. Very impressed. Go for it, you won't be sorry.

It downloaded with no issues.  I have only begun to work with it, but I have tested a couple of old projects and the seem to work fine.

Hate the new PVR--- I can't see the notes of the other tracks now. Toooo dark.
And all my Air VSt's are gone. Funny, they open just fine in Cubase and Mixbuss.
It's kind of just Sonar with nothing excitingly new.
I'm a bit disappointed.
Not complaining, I see what they are trying to do and it's all good overall.,, just really not anything exiting for those of us who already have this. Wonderful for the rest who now get it all for free.

If you do not like the dark PRV, copy the TungstenTheme.fth from the SONAR 2017.10 program folder into C:\Cakewalk Content\Cakewalk Themes changing the file extension to .sth. You may also change the name of the file if you wish. Then load the theme in Cakewalk Preferences.

Also check the VST paths in Preferences along with the rest of preferences. This ls a new product and you have to set it up like one.

I can not tell if he's good or not. I can not get him out of demo mode. I followed all the instructions the support team gave me. I lost a lot of time yesterday and today installing and uninstalling the application. I give up ... Maybe they will release an update to correct this ....

No issues at all for me.  Took about ten minutes from bandlab login to opening it on my desktop.  It pulled preferences from Splat and found everything.  Very easy.

I had that problem and felt a right fool when somebody told me to change the MIDI Track Icon colours to something brighter than black. Works a treat! Regarding missing VSTs, just point their locations at the new install via the Cakewalk Plu-In Manager and everything will work. it did for me. Runs sweet as a nut now. Very impressed

My bad. I called it "Sonar". Goodbye Sonar...hello Cakewalk BandLab or is it BandLab Cakewalk? " Cakewalk by BandLab". Can we just call it Cakewalk?

Since I didn't see that addressed by anyone else, I was missing a lot of plugins too.  It does NOT import your VST locations.  It only puts the two most common 64bit VST locations in the settings.  You will need to go in and point it to the other locations as well.  I just opened my Sonar next to my Cakewalk and used Sonar as reference and created the new paths.  Took me just a few minutes.

I thought Tungsten was the default, at least that it was set that way after I installed CbC and before copying over a theme I created for SONAR. In CbB the Tungsten theme has the new dark PRV. The Tungsten theme in SONAR 2017.10 has a light PRV. Both work in CbC and one could swap out the theme in the program folder but I prefer to keep the program folder as installed and add themes in the user theme folder.

If you are running X3 or earlier, don't hesitate to grab this. It'll be an upgrade.

Say you're running 8.5 at present; you'll be getting gobs of new features such as FX chains, VST3 support, loop samples, ProChannel, quick groups, ARA, touchscreen support, Vocal align and drum replacer. Have unfinished projects in 8.5? No problem, keep on running 8.5 as long as you like. It will peacefully coexist with CbB (Cakewalk by BandLab). All your existing plugins will continue to work in the new DAW, including those that are proprietary to SONAR.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

I'll have to check out this Pro Channel thing, I thought Home Studio had it but it's just the EQ and the next to useless sound dials. But that might just be the one big difference fo me.

SHS and Artist do not have the full PC, they have Mixstrap, a feature introduced in Music Creator 7. CbB not only includes all the Style Dials bundled with SHS and Artist; it has all the ProChannel modules that were bundled with Platinum. The QuadCurve EQ is much nicer that the MixStrip EQ in SHS and Artist.

I have a question for those who installed so far:

If I DO NOT Install the SI-instruments with CWbBL does it affect my SPLAT install?

OR do I have to install SI stuff to see them with the new install . . . It is not really clear as to which install I should use.

Thanks,

I did. Both Windows and AVG flagged the BandLab Assistant. Reluctantly, I made an exception, but it would be nice if BandLab addressed this.

Still testing the new software. Got a bit of glitching during playback, at one point, but that may be due to running Firefox as I listen. Then again, I tried the same project on SPLAT, in the same circumstances, and it didn't seem to mind. This is all the more odd, given that Cakewalk is running off of my SSD, while SPLAT is on the HDD, so Cakewalk should, in theory, be more efficient there.

For some odd reason, the installer picked up some odd previous MRU data (projects that I haven't worked on in a long time), whilst completely ignoring the stuff I've been working recently.

The installer didn't locate all my VST folders, so I had to set them up manually, but afterwards it picked up all my existing plugins - stuff from SPLAT (e.g. the Blue Tube plugins), additional Cakewalk stuff I'd bought or gotten (inc. LP EQ and Adaptive Limiter), third party plugins, the lot. As far as I can tell, migration from SPLAT to Cakewalk is mostly painless.

I will, however, hold off migrating completely for now - at least until the matter of keeping SONAR add-ons, whilst uninstalling the actual software is cleared up.
