Just gorgeous, Frank. The song has a richness that only comes from life. I would like to hear about 3 - 4db more out of the bass guitar, but take that with a grain of salt. It's radio ready as is.

Wow, that's a really nice production. I kinda wish you'd ridden fader on that accordion a bit...I really like it in that song and wish that it had a couple moments to shine a bit more...that's solely a personal preference though. Really well done. Dean

Ya, sounds fine. Found out it is my hardware unit on the other song I thought the left channel was louder. Have to see about that now. Always something. China? Blah!

Thanks again for the help...

I was just thinkin/hearing the chorus somehow different. More like, but, I'll do it anyway,,,,,,,,space/riff,,,,,,,,,,,, yea, i'll do it anyway,,,,,,,,space/riff,,,,,,,,,,,, filler lines (chorus B section) i'll do it anyway. I just thought the follow up lines (after the 'do it anyway' came too quick and took away from the punch of "i'll do it anyway". But, I still like it as is. Actually, I just zoned in to what it IS after a bunch of listens, and, that idea is just another way of doing it. Since I started typing this till now, and listening a bunch, I got nothin....:) I see where you are going with it and it's great. Great song Frank.

The first one seemed a bit more intimate to me I think. (I followed the song more). (that could be that, the first one is the one I heard first) You brought up the harmonies in the second. I think it needs a balance of the first and second and maybe even more db on the 'do it anyway' lines . They (harmonies) seemed kind of light there compared to the other harmony parts. Not sure you need the harmony in the first verse (or lower). I did notice some weirdness with the accordian near the end of the intro. Seemed too choppy or something (same in both mixes). The solo is incredible. I just used an accordian on a tune:) Sounds just like the one I used. Is that Kontact?

They were both excellent but I give a slight nod to the country version. I really liked the guitar. I liked it all. It's great tune. Love all the instrumentation. Really good tune. -- Daryl

I listened to the new mix, "mama's got a squeeze box... Daddy never gets no rest." Your voice is perfect on this Frank, I like the other singers on your stuff? But you really have a voice... Very distictive, evolkitive, it conveys emotion, and THAT is the mark of a truely great singer. Your skills on the guitar and bass and mixing are legend and on display as well, but I don't want you to get a big head? So I'll focus on your talent as a singer, which is "evident..." And the song is really really good. If I was flipping through the stations and heard this? I would listen, even if I'd heard it before? I would listen and rock back and forth, forward and backward... "Anyway..." Just fabulous, 10 out of 10, this is the embodiment of what so many here wish we could do. Thank you for posting this.

In fact, I'm listening again (and rocking in my chair.) That squeeze box is a really nice touch on this song, the production is impecible... And the story is sad, but tells the story of my life, it's very touching. And the guitar work is phenomonal. The harmonies... I think this is one of your best, and that's saying something man. Best song on the forum for a while, hands down. Congratulations, you've made something here to be truely proud of.

notnat foxwolfen Yer makin me feel bad about my own lack of output Frank. You need to stop now. . Nicely done again. Not much to critique. Thanks Shad... well I am looking forward to hearing a new foxwolfen tune... any thing in the works? To be perfectly candid Frank, I had to think about this for a day before responding. I have a few in the works, but I have found that since the breakup with my wife I had lost all confidence in my abilities. To perform, record, mix... lost my mojo I had thought it would come back on its own, but it very slow going. I am now forcing myself back to this site to try to find it again. Sort of "fake it till you make it", testing my ear and perceptions, looking to find my way back. I think I might be hoping that a self-imposed attitude of "put your money where your mouth is" will be the kick in the buttocks I need to "get over myself", so to speak. Sorry, don't mean to hijack your thread. Cheers Shad
