jbow Jada Smith is upset and not going because Will didn't get nominated for his performance in "Concussion". It is obvious, the Academy is RACIST and they need diversity training... I bet they will take that well. You tell them, I'm not going there! Let Sean Penn tell them! J
I was thinking that the Academy should be locked up and then tested on reading "From Sambo to Superspade", for starters ... and maybe they will appreciate ... something a little more than sheer rudeness and lack of appreciation. They need a lot more than just being called a "racist" ... they need to lose money on a couple of huge boners, so they can learn their lesson, but it will be a cold day in hell that an "outsider" can make money in Hollywood ... which means that folks in NY, LA, SF, South and everywhere else need to use their own abilities ... but it won't help ... why? The theater chains are owned by all the Hollywood folks! Kaboom ... you're screwed and automatically out of the daily numbers and news!

Right that's it, I'm boycotting basketball for the lack of diversity! And I'm not using public transport from now on either...anywhere there's not a mathematically perfect demographic I'm going to throw a strop and boycott. Let's start with the Coffee House

Isn't that all that matters? It's not a technical documentary about the perils of space flight in an alien galaxy. It's meant to be entertainment. So if it entertains, then it's fulfilled its porpoise and deserves an Oscar...
Oscars are for meeting expectations?

I find it a bit ironic that Hollywood has shoved tons of "diversity" into every show on TV right now (except for some that are blatantly racist - by definition), yet they can't figure out how to do this when they reward themselves for not being themselves...

Big oil would buy the patent and bury it. If someone invented a "perpetual motion" engine, they would kill him and bury the technology. It's all about money and power, from Oscars, to energy, to well.. everything. Diversity is about power and money (power=money=power) the "people" figure in the equation nowhere. I've often wondered why people who have a talent for pretending to be someone else always seem to become experts is almost everything. You are right though, it is just an exclusive group patting each other on the back. It is strange and it is frightening how so many people lap it up. I guess we all like to live vicariously at some time or another and at some level or another but actors should keep their ego in check. It is also shocking how much nepotism there is in Hollywood. On the other hand. There just under 6,000 voting members of the Academy and 33% are former Oscar nominees, 19% winners (as of a few years ago, per WIKI). So, it seems to me that since it is nearly 6,000 and not 10 or 20 people voting, it adds a little more credibility. I still don't care and wont watch though. I do want to see The Revenant. J

I'm not sure of the time slot the oscars are in. I don't have the ambition to find out. Unless I happen to be in a doctors office looking at it on their TV the chances of me seeing it are fairly zero. If I accidentally seen it on TV I would change the channel unless it helps me to fall asleep. So far the best way to fall into the kind of sleep that your wife could slap you and you wouldn't feel it is documentaries made in the 70's with low male tenors for commentary. Works better than nytol. Similar to boycotting Apple...screw you Apple, now you can subtract 1 iphone from that list of 5 million ( this is a random number) sales you made...ouch, that really has to hurt. :) Screw you actors...you won't see me watching the tube on oscars night. Oh Tim we're so sorry, this will totally ruin our evening. You will really be missed. Me- the other 6 million of you who watch it will just have to pull this off without me....yeah right ;) Put a box with pretty pictures on it that move in front of a person who is tired and they will probably watch it, It beats watching a wall, doesn't really matter what it is...it could be monkeys playing checkers. After three beers it could be elephants dancing in spandex. Heck I've even been known to watch golf when I'm tired and I hate golf....how much effort does it take to sit on ones posterior and look at something, then periodically push a button to change the picture?

I don't suppose we can say there is no "diversity" in porn! Gosh ... the movie business has something else to learn from porn ... the Betamax story was not enough! AND, it made more money than most Hollywood movies in those days!
