The pdf is so huge you can't scroll it properly which makes reading it painful.

Sure wish they'd break it up a bit.   I've always RTFM but this one is the exception.

I wish Cakewalk would maintain a list of current manual errata, to which users can submit errors. There are many mistakes in that document - I've lost count of the times I've tried to learn something from it only to find that the instructions given do not correlate with reality. That's fine - errors are inevitable in such a large and complex manual - but when frustrated like this I'd like to be able to look up the page in an errata database and see if a correction has been posted. Then Cakewalk could use this errata to correct the next manual. I guess what I'm driving at is some kind of bug system but for the manual.

I file reports on the documentation just like problems with the program. The documentation errors usually get corrected within a release or two. I do not use the pdf though.

Finally!,
Deleting the April 2015 Reference Manual [as well as CHM,and the teeny user guide]then going to Command Center, and updated"Documentation"which did the trick for the Reference Manual to :version 22.12.00,as well as updating Platinum while at it.
I'm not kidding Command center has *NEVER* updated the reference manual until now! [I didn't get an updated CHM-which I find easier to find out things at times,or the newb only user guide]which is no big deal, but I thought the CHM would be handy as I just like it more at times-it's a personal preference thing depending on mood:?.

As Far as cleaning the command center in App Data THIS:https://www.gearslutz.com/board/12134804-post19.html  Talks about that, and I saved all to another drive as well as cleaning it up[saved 10GB!],just to be sure, but I'd be pretty certain this guy knows what he's talking about.

Now to just get the latest CHM?
Thank You to All Freaks!

But if you're still asking noob questions after 5 years, you're in Group B and it's time you learned how the washer and dryer work.

Am I no longer allowed to ask questions here?

Man,
don't you know the neo[well repeat-repeat-repeat again-in case we didn't tow the line the first 1,000 times fascism has taken hold for a little while here, and there in human history?]scene?it's definitely a far right deal here now? I'm 100% in Group B [In fact I 'am group B ]very obviously because I'm Bob[as well as much much worse],so bapu[Ed],although it may NOT be THAT obvious at first?[laugh]"I don't know anything"?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEWGxs8rjJA And that is for sure! And no questions allowed,no not for me,especially if like myself you've only owned 2 crappy laptops, only ever used x123,little bit of Platinum[my Mum died 1 year ago almost to the day,and recording my guitar noodlets has lost it's initial appeal],and never even knew what qwerty meant until a huge 5 years ago!,otherwise- you personally are a SUPERSTAR of this forum!,so I think you will be fine! applauded even!

I go to the manual from time to time but often find using Google easier. Doesn't matter if it's a bit dated as the stuff I look up hasn't changed since the X1 series.
I do like Bitfliper and I'll see a interesting question on the forum that I don't know the answer so I'll look it up if it's a feature I might use. Or I'll open Sonar and start poking around. The little help module in the lower right has been sort of useful these days.

I just read through the Melodyn section. I don't really need it for vocals, but I now found it has other features I can use. So as a result I've been converting all my backing track analog bass parts to midi. I sort of heard it would do this but I guess it never sunk in. So reading a manual every day is good for you.

I use Foxit reader. I have not noticed a scroll problem.

I actually had a look at "Delete Hole" yesterday; still couldn't get it working.
But, Anyone read the manual?
You are $hittin' me; right?
I don't ask for "directions" either; so..

I came looking to see if "Delete Hole" for midi tracks had been made to work in the last six months, and found your comment.

I guess not, huh?    CW programmers think that if there's no midi event in a selection span, they ain't going to delete nothing, so they just ignore that particular selected track.   And if there is no midi event right at where you say to begin the selection, they say, nah, we gonna start at whereever we can find the first event.   And then we might delete a hole from that point, unless a track don't have any events, in which case you need to read the manual better because we don't do that.

Don't take my experience as the "norm". Probably I just wasn't doing it correctly.
Basically I just did a "save as" and "hacked" the timeline up manually.
Sometimes its easier, for me, to just be "bull headed".
Fortunately it was not a complicated project.
And it was midi and audio, if that makes any difference...

I read the 2000+ manual while vacationing in Hawaii. A year later I forgot most of it...
I still refer to it but mostly rely on Google or Scook when there's something I don't understand. Seems like almost every day I'm learning something new. Good thing I'm retired!
