Well that certainly blew away the cobwebs..

Good one CJ, great wall of sound as usual, I liked the use of the tolling bell and the smashing glass as percussion instruments, nice idea.

Solos sounded like you were in danger of ripping the neck off your geetar!

Pretty intense all through; room for a drop-down somewhere maybe..like just guitar, vocals and the bell perhaps? I know I've suggested this to you before, so take it as a personal preference thing, not a criticism.

You'd never pick your style from your mild mannered picture CJ!

Sounds well mixed and recorded. Not really my cup of tea, but I've seen you around a lot so I thought I would have a listen. Evoked Marilyn Manson or Ozzy Osbourne in my mind.

    CJ,

Wow .. intense .. those guitar solos were some of the most expressive gut-wrenching playing I've heard in a long while, well done. Great space and depth in the mix. Cool ending, Nice mix overall, huge cavernous guitar sounds. Good solid percussion and bass. A well crafted piece.

    That's a happy little tune isn't it?
Refreshingly maniacal. Huge sound, good space. Way to torture that guitar. I really like this.
The Sabbath and Rush influence is strong in this one.

thats really dark, man. i like the way you used the church bell for accent. and the guitar solo(s) was crunchy and tasty. definately a good tune to listen to blasting out of your headphones after a really bad day...

CJ - In my humble opinion I think this is your best to date, seriously. It captured me: The mysterious dark sound, the bells, the full sound spectrum, the fearful voice - and then that screaming lead solo at 2:50 ... wow. I'm blown away. And yes, Ozzy comes to mind, no doubt. I did enjoy that! I seriously think you can go big with this tune, dude!

    CJ,
This is an immensely powerful song and I have listened to it several time. I have found that a slight dip around 3.3k is very satisfying(less than 2 db). That's the only critique I have. This track is awesome.

Hey CJ, been listening to your stuff as you go. Time to chime in.... This is the best IMHO you have going so far. Nice spread, wicked tone. I think a little more separation in the drums would help, cymbals and such. Just an opinion.

    CJ,
Definitely a lot of old "Sabbath" influences on this. When I 1st heard Tony Iommi play, I was in awe. This is a good song. You have "the wall of sound" down to a science. The vox was clear, and the mix good. I enjoyed thiis.

Hey, CJ. great sounding tune. very dark and forboding! love the guitars on this. I'm not that fond of the way the vocalist (you?) drops down to speaking instead of singing at 00:27-ish - just MO, tho, great job on the mix!

Thats probably my way of compensating for my lack of vocals. Thats my weakest instrument that i play. whats sucks about vocals is, most people are born with good vocals or born with bad vocals. Its not like guitar, when you can get better with practice. Yes vocs can get better with practive, but only so much. Damn you god, why couldnt you have gave me better vocal chords instead of my beauitiful head of hair..

I'm not sure what kind of critisism you are looking for. As far as your mix and bountiful amount of little frills here and there you did a good job.

However songwise you've created a dronning repeating pattern with no way to cleanse the aural palate. The lick itself is a sort of hypnotic trance like mood which I guess can work to some extent. And you did stray off with interesting surprises like the Bell and what not. Which is a good to keep attention going.

But honestly, even though there where a few moments the vocals fit the mood. You really should consider scouting out for a singer.
With the exception of the Toll Bells I didn't hear a whole lot of Sabbath or Rush. But what I did hear was something closer to Alice cooper times ten.

I need to wrapp up my wrists now.

Another great recording. It may be just a personal preference but this is awfully intense to me (I guess I have to admit it then, I listen to a lot of soft rock and jazz). So did I mention this is intense sounding.

Given the huge guitar sounds, and huge sounds overall it all comes thru real clear. And the performances are spot on also.

Since I'm working on my crappy vocals, then I'll just end up with improved crappy vocals. I sure hope that's not true though I kind of suspect it is.

EQ hell!!! Did you mix this on monitors without tweets The highs are killing my hearing. Other than that, sounds like a good song. I usally don't like guitar solos but the way you made this a bg solo fit well. Cool song, but I'd remix it, and do something with the mids to highs. Like I say, cool song though. BTW, I just woke up, and this was the first thing I've heard so far, so maybe my ears are more sensitive than they would be later on.

WOW......I have absolutely no criticism or nit picks on this one. Everything is perfect to my ears and this is one GOOD song. All the parts are great and done very professionally, and the vocals are outstanding. Man you have a really unique voice......pefect for the kind of music you do; it goes together like peanut butter and jelly. Niiiiice lead on the guitar too........wish we could have heard just a little more of it. Oops, I guess I did throw in a little tip!!! Great work and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thanx Ognis, im not a fan of guitar solo's also. If you noticed, this is the 2nd one i did in all my songs that i posted. I think alot of solos are unnessary and are just put into a song to satisfy the ego of the guitarist. Im not one to put a guitar solo in, just for the sake of having a guitar solo. It has to fit the mood and the song. Its like in the movie's, of having a nude sex sceen just to show boobs, and it doent need to be there and is unnessesary. For the record, Im not against seeing boobs, just for the sake of seeing them, im all for it.

Durod, I love hearing that from other musicians. Thank you so much.

If you come at it trying to measure yourself against some particular genre or singer, it can be frustrating. Best to just to use your voice the way it wants to be used, even if that means you can't sound like your heros. Any voice can sound good if it's used right, with Bob Dylan being the canonical example. I do though think you can seriously improve your voice if you want, though I do believe the above that you can't measure success by how much you sound like Ozzy or some other metal maven. And of course processing is your friend, too.

I thought I was listening to David Bowie! Dark and sinister. Good arrangement. I thought the lead vocal could come up a tad, the rest of the mix was good, including the background vocals. I would like the guitar break just a tad cleaner.
