Probably the best drum vst though Unfortunately you may find that BFD2 is no longer available for the upgrade price but if you look around you might be lucky. Not sure if this kit runs in BFD Eco or not but it I don't think so or else it would say but it should run in BFD3 as well as BFD2. There's a Sam Ash shop in New York that has the upgrade versions of BFD2 in it's bargain bin for $10 which I find extremely hard to believe as others are selling off the upgrade for the full price now they know it's out of stock. Good old free market huh ? You could try contacting them and seeing if they'll do you a deal. Then you'll have an upgrade path to BFD3 which really is the best drum vst on the market right now. Steve

According to an esoundz post, these will be available in Kontakt soon. They'll probably run through esoundz Infinite Player, so you could purchase the infinite player (which goes on sale regularly, I think) and then you could use the drums in Kontakt, if past experience is to be repeated.

JRRShop has the upgrade from Eco to BFD 2 for $84.... http://www.jrrshop.com/fxpansion-bfd-2-0-upgrade-download-licenseUse coupon code NEWLETTER15 to get 15% off the $99, makin it $84.15 If you then want to upgrade to BFD 3 the cost is $126....so about $210 all the way there... Just an FYI... If you don't have Eco, it's $29 at Musicians Friend so that would be $113 to get all the way to BFD 2... And then $126 to get to BFD 3 so $239 total....that's $110 less then Retail on BFD 3... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/fxpansion-bfd-eco-software-instrument

Thanks for that cclarry I realised after posting this that you're not going to get BFD2 at the upgrade price if you don't own BFD1.5 or BFD Eco so if James doesn't have Eco $29 is a no brainer as it's the best in it's class IMHO and in many respects better than addictive drums. Steve

Unfortunately there is no upgrade from Eco to BFD3 so you'll have to be quick and hope you can still get BFD2 at an upgrade price but since BFD2 is discontinued it seems quite a few retailers have bumped the price up or have at least stopped doing it at the upgrade price. Steve

JRRShop has the upgrade from BFD Eco to BFD 3, and it includes BFD 2...i http://www.jrrshop.com/fxpansion-bfd15-to-bfd2-to-bfd3-upgrade-bundle-download-licenseBut you're are better off buying the BFD 2 upgrade from Eco and then Buying the BFD 3 upgrade... If you just buy the Eco to 3 upgrade it's $295...$348 - 15%.... If you buy the upgrade to 2 for $84 and then buy the uprgrade to 3 for $126 the total price is $210.80.... that's $85 cheaper...don't forget to use the coupon code NEWSLETTER15

It looks like Eco IS 1.5 according to the FXPansion site, and they say you can update it using the regular BFD upgrade product. So I'll have about $250 into this, plus adding Nick Mason drums. Is it really worth the investment over what I have? Should I get 2 now while I can, and wait for a deeper special on moving to 3?

Yes BFD Eco is at version 1.5 but so was the original BFD when it came to an end which is what I was unsure about. I would have thought they would have said Eco if they were referring to it and the word from fxpansion was that there was no upgrade path for BFD Eco owners to BFD3, they would have to go via BFD2. I'd be inclined to contact JRRshop first just to be sure. As for whether it's worth it or not I would say absolutely 100% yes. Even to those who can afford to get BFD3 without having to go via BFD2 I would still suggest going via BFD2 as you get 10 whole kits that IMHO cover a wider variety than the BFD3 kits and are well worth the money. That said the kits in BFD3 are a lot more realistic, I just happen to really like some of the BFD2 kits. Were it not for the fact that those BFD2 kits might not be round for much longer I might have suggested getting more accustomed to BFD Eco before deciding whether you want to upgrade but the clock seems to be ticking for those who don't want to pay the full cost of BFD3. I'm not sure what you are currently using other than soon to be BFD Eco or more importantly how much you like tweaking and mixing drums as opposed to using generic genre based based drums that sound great out of the box. I found BFD2 extremely daunting at first but got myself some tutorial DVD's and youtube video's and am really glad I did. Steve Edit. See, this is BFD 1.5

It does say in the small print Quick Overview If you're a BFD1 user, this bundle gives you everything you need to upgrade all the way to BFD3... No mention of Eco Steve Having just posted the above, there is an upgrade path for Eco users to BFD2 (just not directly to BFD3) I don't think there was a direct upgrade to BFD3 for BFD1 users come to think of it so if they're offering this deal to BFD1 users and not BFD Eco users that seems very wrong so definitely contact them and give em hell if they try and wriggle out of it. Yes. To upgrade from BFD Eco to BFD2, simply purchase the BFD2 Upgrade product.
Note that BFD Eco and BFD2 must be registered within the same user account for the upgrade to be valid.
So I went ahead and registered with a secondary email address (no luck with the reset and no call back on Friday) and got it ordered. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a holiday sale on upgrading from 2 to 3. thanks! :)
