As a non-member, how do I follow development progress?
I'm still on X3e. I follow the forums in order to get a picture of how new Sonar works out. I read about quite heavy issues like Sonar switching to demo mode within sessions, bugs an the like. Has there already been an update rolled out? Where can I see reported bugs, rolled out updates, fixed issues and such? Thank you Tab

In the past, I've seen stickies at the top of the Sonar forum when there were any updates available, but I still chose at ask Bapu.

Not to hijack this thread but I upgraded & supposedly have a 1 year membership and I have no idea what that means. I didn't get any membership # or any instructions about anything so for me the membership means absolutely zero. My year will be up before I ever figure out how to use it.

All the above are good options if you don't upgrade. Just be aware that these forums, like any forum, get a lot of traffic from those ... less experienced. If I have a problem w/ software etc. and they have a forum I'll go there and search, and then most likely make a post asking about the problem. If it is a "stupid" problem, as I think (it is never me being stupid!) or I'm having a bad day I'm likely to phrase my question (or just a statement) in a non-diplomatic way, even tho I know it is easier to get answers by asking nicely. So take "progress" in the forums in this light, that a lot more people w/ problems, either real or from inexperience, come here to kvetch than those for whom SONAR works fine and never brag about that fact in the forums. It is the same for software as for cars or anything else. For every real issue there are 4-5 or more bogus, user errors. @
https://soundcloud.com/a-pleasure-dome http://www.bnoir-film.com/ there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

AT, that is a brilliant post! There is so much good stuff in that. I would add that a good strategy would be to pick out a few people who seem to know what they are doing and keep an eye on what they have to say. Take the overly negative and overly positive with a grain of salt. Relax, you made a good purchase. None of us know what "membership" really means but have decided it's not some incredibly bold scam so let's see how this goes. We got a very good product with some top notch 3rd party add ons so membership is gravy. This post gets bonus points for having "kvetch" in it. Great insights, kudos.

When you appreciate what you have, you have a lot more (sorry, I just couldn't help in quoting your own sig. ). There are plenty of threads in here as well as the Sonar FAQ's to give you info on the membership details. It usually works out for the better when the reading on the finer details of upgrading/membership are done before pushing the pay button........YMMV.

If only it were that simple. Can't remember the last time I actually got one. It's been mentioned by many members over the years, myself included, that the email delivery to subscribers is very unreliable. I used to get them, but not for a few years now and nothing has changed at my end.

You're still the same old miserable sod or you don't get newsletters? Just curious. Did you sign up for newsletters after you successfully merged your forum account to the SSO system? And (just asking the basic) are you sure your email associated with your SSO is correct?

I'm in the same boat. I've signed up multiple times in multiple places using multiple methods. Cakewalk apparently hates me and does not want to take my money. If any of the baker's happen to know the solution, PLEASE get me added to these stupid e-mail lists and take my money.

Touche! You got me on that one. I probably gave the impression I was not happy about my UG but that is not the case. I've been using CW software for 25 years & have never been unhappy with any of my purchases. I was kind of hoping someone would chime in with some specifics about how we get those updates & fixes or how I even know I'm a member. It just said the UG included 1 year membership. Is there some place that shows you your membership & when it expires? Do you have to activate something besides the software? Do I get an email or something? I didn't see any of that in the FAQ's but I still appreciate what I've got.<g>

Assuming you pay in full up front your "membership" starts when you buy the upgrade from CW or redeem your code from a retailer. It expires 12 months after that. At that time you own the "build" that was delivered through the 12th month. If you pay monthly you are a "member", and it expires after 12 months (i.e. day one of the 13th month assuming you paid all 12 months on time). At that time you own the "build" that was delivered through the 12th month. Can' t be stated simpler than that. Addendum: As I've learned, if you pay monthly and you pay for 13 or more months, at that time you own the "build" that was delivered through the last paid month.

The CCC should have something like that really. If it doesn't here is the perfect opportunity to put in a feature request in the feature and ideas forums.
