Mesh How is this plug in actual usage? good enough to be your Go-To/replace the sonitus delay? (I know it's only $10, but I don't like to buy things and just have it occupy space....) With the caveat that I've only messed around with it for about 30 min or so, I think it will replace my use of Sonitus and Ricochet (Audiodamage) both almost entirely. The options are so many and the sound ( to me) is definitely superior to Ricochet and probably better than Sonitus as well. The hardest part will be understanding signal flow and what all the buttons do. Jim

@ Rain, I've bought several Nomad Factory plugs and it's been awhile, but I don't recall any problems. The longest I've ever had to wait was about 48 hrs over a weekend. Of course my recall is always subject to recall. Jim

Thanks Jim. Yeah, it looks like you can do quite a bit with this including that reverse function....I listened to all the demo's of this on RP's site and was impressed. Just may be one of the best $10 I've spent!

good enough to be your Go-To/replace the sonitus delay? That's exactly what I've been trying to do for a while now: find a suitable replacement for the Sonitus Delay, which has a couple bugs that drive me up the wall. Even if its replacement turns out to be buggy, hopefully at least somebody's still working on it. In terms of ease-of-use, RP-Delay is not nearly as quick to dial in as the Sonitus. It will no doubt get easier after I've memorized the positions of its controls (whose labels are difficult to read) and once I've made presets for my most-used settings.

By the way, Audio Midi has plenty of interesting sales in August (for those of you not on their mailing list) - big specials on EZ and Superior Drummer, 50% off on all EZ Expansions, 20% off Nomad Factory plug-ins, and a couple of other specials on Waves Bundles, M-Audio stuff etc... I was somewhat hesitant because the demos on Toontrack site aren't all that convincing, but I think it might be a good time for me to grab the Vintage Kit, and maybe the Nashville (not into Nashville sort of thing but this seems like a pretty good drum library at any rate) or the Metalheads... EDIT - Just saw Beagle started a tread about the EZX stuff.

IMHO, the closest thing to a replacement for Sonitus delay would probably be Waves' supertap. If you already have an iLock, it sells for only $29 these days. I'm no big fan of Waves, and iLock means no go for me. So I stuck with Sonitus in Sonar, which is more than good enough, unless you have issues and bugs w/ it. I still think the Sonitus plug-ins are some of the most underrated in the business. Logic has Tape Delay, which is one of my favorite delay plug-ins ever, but it's on the more simple side, like the Sonitus one. The RP Delay I see more like a delay-based toolkit - it does all sorts of crazy things around delay, but it wouldn't necessarily be my first choice if I needed a simple delay.

EDIT - Just saw Beagle started a tread about the EZX stuff. I was pretty happy with my loops and then Danni Danzi someone here started my wheels turning(that can be dangerous;-). Once on a mission I can't stop... especially after reading that the sessions drummer in Sonar is basically a toy compared to some of the other contenders in this area. The ability to have a better sounding kit with more control of the sounds was enough to put me on the web to every major drum software manufacturer online pouring over their product lit.I looked at numerous Youtube videos and wound up with a speed course in drum software.....now Rain tells us there is a 50% discount on Superior Drummer. So I'm still doing homework and doing math in the back of my head to see what I can do............thanks for the info Rain. I'm on a slippery slope now, where will it all end? Probably with my computer loaded with a bunch of software I need to learn how to use........I had better look into copying that hard drive..... I need a term for a music/ computer geek/musician who spends inordinate amounts of time up late on his computer toying around with something or other making some kind of stuff that maybe himself, the neighborhood dog and a few stragglers might stumble on sometime whilst other more normal people are in bed sound asleep...........wonderful ain't it?

I always wondered how these vendors made money on these no brainers? Rob Papen has obviously created a name for himself with high quality products and this delay is going for $69 on his site.....and AM is practically giving it away for $10??? must be the quantity in sales that allows for this?

Just to make sure - the 50% is on EZ Expansions. But there's still 42% off on Superior. After years of using samplers and softsynths and building my own kits from scratch, layering sounds and starting the process all over again w/ every new song because the kits I had built did not work, an app like EZ Drummer is such a relief. I've looked into Superior and there's definitely some quite interesting stuff about it, but I've bought so many new plug-ins and libraries in the last month alone that I'll focus on using that. And I just love the simplicity of EZ. Oddly enough, my introduction to EZ was through the Studio One sale last fall - EZ lite was bundled w/ it. It was definitely worth the $20, even though I have no use for Studio One, but just for the upgrade path to EZ drummer. :)

Software prices are an odd thing. I found myself wondering lately how is the cost determined...Look at IK. They sell a single compressor like the White 2A for $99. At the other end, for $15, you can get a rare Fender or Soldano amp model from their Custom Shop. Or you get 20 cabinet models for the price of a T-Racks Single regular EQ. How do they determine what's worth how much? I would think that modeling an guitar amp would be equally demanding as modeling an EQ or a compressor. Of course, I might be making an assumption here. I don't know all that's involved... This is nothing against IK - I love their plugs and I am a huge supporter. And a virtual LA2A for $99 is still an awesome deal in my book. :)

I honestly don't think they are designed to make money at all, any more than freebie downloads. I doubt this particular product had previously been flying off the shelves - two years old and still at version 1.0, and AFAIK zero buzz since its release. There are just too many similar products out there, even if this one is unusually feature-laden. I suspect they chose RP-Delay as a sacrifice to the gods of marketing in hopes of better brand recognition.

I'm such a dimbulb. When I first installed the RP Delay and was futzing with it I noticed that everytime I moved my mouse the value changed in the readout box. I actually thought something was wrong with it and that every time I moved my mouse it was changing the value of the current knob. I was gonna send a message to RP about it. Thank goodness I discovered that all those changing values were just the current values of whatever my mouse was hovering over at the time. DOH!!!!!

I just messed around with the presets and tweaked them a bit....very nice & well worth the $10. I can see why the electronic musician can really go to town with this....very cool effect on drums/just about anything.

This one is similar. It came in the Computer Music Effects special issue(#47). Actually a pretty decent issue. This effect is a bit more over the top than RP-delay. TRUC

For 10 bucks or 7 bucks UK money still a great deal for anyone who needs one. The software guys are not getting rich on this one!!...........unless they move them like Mcdonalds hamburgers.

I had no intention of getting in on this one, but figured for $10 I wouldn't be out much in a worst case scenario. It actually seems pretty decent, although I may want to do a bit of manual reading on this puppy.
