It's six months later and there seems to be no mention of BCR2000s on SourceForge any more. Is AJ's BCR2000 plugin still available / being developed?

I'd be very very grateful if someone could post me a link to a download to the 64 bit version.  I'm running X1 on W7 64 bit having finally given up on XP.  I was sticking with it because I have (had) an 01X (and Yamaha in their wisdom have abandoned their customers and decided not to update their drivers) but the firewire interface is just too unreliable because of shared interrupts used by other hardware.  I'd rather run three monitors but I miss a hands-on control surface and my BCR2000 is just gathering dust.

Ugh, I feel like every few months someone is posting that they're writing a custom setup for the BCx units and it's a panacea for all control-needing nerds everywhere...this is at least the third discreet effort I've seen.

I own a BCF and a BCR and gotta tells ya, they've never worked right. Not in Mackie mode, not in ACT mode, and not with either of the first two attempts at something custom. Total bummer, for the size and price they're great but without something inside to sort it all out they're just dead weight on my desk.

I do hope this latest attempt goes all the way, it's certainly not a criticism from me for anyone who has taken the effort to give it a shot. I would just like to see one of these projects reach a 1.0 milestone and be ready for prime time. It makes me so jealous to see stuff like Daft Punk's setup where they use three of them for various controlling needs but they're all running some kind of hand-coded control bidness...probably some script in Max for Live or some such. Meanwhile I gotta spend six days in ACT hell just to get a pan pot to respond. :-)

Hey wicked... I did some video tutorials on Sonar use of the BCF2000 on my website.  Does anything there help you at all?  The video is in pre-x version (I think I had 8.5 at the time) and since the X versions, the prochannel control didn't end up getting used and it killed some of the BCF EQ functions in Mackie mode.  Still useful, though a bit less-so.  It's really a shame that there is no support for the prochannel stuff here and that the EQ bits stopped working, but as I understand it, this is more of a Mackie protocol issue than a BCF problem.

What exactly are you wishing that it would do that it doesn't?

Anyone know what has become of the somewhat-recently-open-sourced Mackie stuff for non-developers?

And I am one of such, but not for Bx at the moment... For everything without endless rotors and motorized faders, my solution is "ultimate" ;)

I would just like to see one of these projects reach a 1.0 milestone and be ready for prime time.

Open source/not commercial projects relay on motivation and final users activity in testing, proposals, etc.
I think Cakewalk is not actively developing CS part because  there is not sufficient number of customers for which it is important. The situation with my own plug-in just confirm that: not much interest and absolutely no response.

It's really a shame that there is no support for the prochannel stuff here and that the EQ bits stopped working, but as I understand it, this is more of a Mackie protocol issue than a BCF problem.

That is SONAR issuer. All plug-ins (Mackie, MIDI, etc). are using the same API. To reliably control PC EQ, very special tricks are required to deal with API bugs.

If you mean Mackie plug-in source for SONAR, it is what it is. So everyone can make it work for own CS (with sufficient knowledge in C++ and paid version of VC).

"everyone can make it work for own CS" - sure, maybe, but what about USERS that just want their stuff to work that doesn't?  I don't know C++ and don't really want to in order to get a BFC2000 to work with Sonar, which it should have done to begin with! :)  Especially since it used to work and has been broken with no regard!

With BCF2000 you are Behringer's user. CW does not get paid for these devices. There are devices which explicitly declare Sonar support (like Nektar Impact), other do not. You can not make CW responsible for all products from other companies.

I don't know C++ and don't really want to in order to get a BFC2000 to work with Sonar, which it should have done to begin with! :)

You can also ask someone else. But can you without a reason write me a good song, record and give it to me for free for commercial use? May be you can, but I do not think you will. And that is what you are asking from software programmers(from CW or community), till you complain to the producer of your controller (which get money from you to control parameters in software, since these devices can not do anything else).

Especially since it used to work and has been broken with no regard!

That is not really true. Before it was different program with different functionality. In respect to EQ, there was one (and only one) "filter", EQ. If in your PC you leave EQ only (and even in case there are other, but EQ is the first in PC chain), this EQ should work as before (it has a bit different parameters since it is "new", so may be not exactly as before). But in case you want use new features in new SONAR, you can not expect all old staff will work with that correctly "out of the box".

As I can see, you pay for your site, most probably you have paid for your site design. So you know IT people refuse to work for free   Even you "annoys" your visitors with advertisements and proposal  to donate for the time spend for the site, can you imagine what proper CS plug-in development costs ?

Re: 64bit BCR2000? 2014/07/19 12:35:01 (permalink)
AzSlow - I did not pay for my site design - I built it.  I do web hosting as part of my day business (a small part) and I host on that platform - so at some level I pay for that myself.  Yes, I built my own site and I have the ads and popup because I'd appreciate donation for the time I put in for the specific reason that I created videos to help people use their Cakewalk software.  The reason I put the videos up there was for the community and I have honestly made next to nothing from that site.  In fact, I only relatively recently put the pop up donation request on there in hopes of making enough to get Sonar X3 - which I bought after getting the funds in other ways.  I really have made about $5.00 on the drum map video - and maybe $25 over the last several years from any other donations.  I have not even made enough on the ads to get a google payout - so "whatever".  These sorts of videos should really be provided by the software or hardware maker, but they weren't, so I created them.  Even in the case of the BCF2000, I created the videos for others who use these controllers who wanted to get a better use from them within Sonar specifically.  I would be happy for Cakewalk or Behringer to be interested in using these videos, really for a minimal fee (like one of those new Behringer devices or whatever - for as many units as my video might have helped them sell).  I actually did a similar thing for the graphics software that I use and they happily gave me a copy of the software for a few tutorial videos that I created for them :).

Really, I'm not asking anyone from the community to create these for free, and I really DON'T think it's Behringer's responsibility either, because they put in the Mackie compatibility so that they would work with multiple vendors' software, depending on that vendor's support of the Mackie library.  Sonar used to support the Mackie library more fully than they do now.  The EQ part was something that worked before and there is apparently nothing I can do to make it work again - this isn't just some "put your old EQ plugin back and it will work" because it was broken because of the removal of the default track EQ that used to be there that has been replaced by the EQ in the ProChannel, which doesn't allow the Mackie control to control it.  This didn't break because Behringer didn't supply support for it.  It broke because Sonar changed the way that the modules are referenced by the Mackie control system.  As I said above, this is not limited to the Behringer or any other specific device - it affects all devices that use the Mackie Emulation - including the Mackie units themselves.

Incidentally, I never indicated that this should have been done for free by users - just curious if someone did it or not.

I DO think it should be done by Cakewalk, because they DO claim support for the Mackie control, but support less and less of it as the versions go by, with a DLL that hasn't been updated in as many years as the drum maps haven't.

Blades AzSlow - I did not pay for my site design - I built it.

Sorry, I have overseen the About on the designer site

In fact, I think the fix will cost me less then an hour-two of work, the problem I do not own VC and I do not have anything to test the result. CW developers have both for sure and probably can do that even faster.

I am a bit more relaxed then at the morning, so you are right: why they just do not do this as a "gift" ? May be they have already fixed that for X4 and are going to use it as an addition argument for upgrade... But common, they are not so bad.

Greetings all... this is my 1st post on this forum so please forgive me if I am breaking any rules or protocols by posting here.. I have been searching the net for the info i need for over a week but im still drawing blanks and at this point I'm desperate LOL! ok here goes..... I recently acquired a bcr2000 and I would like to use it to control my Korg TR-Rack.. Unfortunately I am a midi noob and have no idea how to approach this. I have looked at the midi implementation chart that came with the tr-rack but i don't see how i can get that information (.syx) to my BCR. would anyone be able to help me accomplish this?

Sidenote... I have installed BC Manager as I understand it is a helpful tool when configuring the BCR. I even went so far as reprogramming the encoders and buttons on the BCR.. Im still getting familiar with the process(es).. That being said I still have no idea how to get the syx data from my synth to dump to BC Manager and then to my BCR.. i see so many syx files on the net but none for my synth so i guess I have to do it myself. Thanks in advance for any help with this. It is greatly appreciated.. I apologize if my question seems noobish.

If you are still trying to move around syx files google "midi-ox".  This will allow you to move sys-ex files between midi devices.
