OK...here's the latest.  I have BFD2 with several extra expansion paks.  BFD3 scanned them, found them all and I can load them as kits...which I did, individually, and let them all upgrade and fully load.  This was using the plugin version inside Sonar.  Seems I can also load and change individual drums as per normal.

BUT

In standalone mode, pre BFD3 presets wont load at all.  And in VST mode pre BFD3 presets load...but without a kick.

Again BFD3 scanned, saw and checked off all of my existing BFD stuffage.  And I can load kits...just not presets.

Or is this normal for BFD3??

-----------------------------NEVER MIND...............MAYBE.......................

I see now that you have to load a kit first...and then you can load any preset you want.  Or at least that's what I'm having to do.  I cannot just open a new instance of BFD3 and load a preset.  I have to load any old kit....and then I can, so far, load any preset which uses any other kit I want.

Is this how BFD3 operates or just a lucky work-around??

That is how it operates, as opposed to SD, which loads kits with the preset...

What's weird is that if I load a kit, say one of the new BFD3 kits, and then go to the presets tab and pick a preset from one of the BFD2 presets it looks like it just changes the mixer settings and doesn't load any different drums in.  I thought presets were "everything" drum pieces, mixer settings, etc...

Maybe I'm just not wrapping my head around how BFD3s kits and presets work.

Plus, with my Evil Joe Barressi drums for instance.  I'll load in kit one and then pick a new preset from the EJB presets and it loads but without a kick drum.  This happens to other kits as well.  I mean shouldn't you be able to load any kit...tweak it like you want it...change out a few kit pieces and save that as a preset and be able to just load that at any time??

Ok...in the stand alone you have to use the "Preset" option on the MENU, not the one in the middle, where you have to use the right and left arrows to go through the presets..

The presets do load the kits.  When you hit the "preset" option they will show in inspector on the left hand side in the
same way that the kits do when you "Kits' selected.

The menu says "Presets - Kits - Drums - Grooves - Auto"

When you select the Preset you will see the kit pieces change...

It can be done the same way in the Plugin...

It's confusing at first...but it will get better...

Nope... I know how to load the presets...I bought the Groove3 vid and watched over the weekend. I'm at home now and I started thinking maybe I accidentally hit the ignore kits buttons in the preset filter section but then why would some kits (in vst mode) load everything but the kick?

Again...if open BFD3 in standalone mode and there is no kit or preset loaded...which is the default...and I try to load a preset by either double clicking or dragging and dropping the screen momentarily flashes and nothing happens...zilch...nada...nuttin. If...however...I load a kit, it loads just fine.

But...

If I then go back to the preset menu and pick ANY preset...even a bfd2 one it loads everything BUT the kit.

This last behavior is mirrored in VST mode. I first have to load any kit and then any PRESET I choose will simply load in all settings EXCEPT the kit.

May be something I've done but it has generated two crash dumps which I forwarded to FXP.

PITA...but dern those new kits sound GREAT!!

Yeah..there's definitely something out of the ordinary going on with it...

Did you update to the latest version after you installed?  3.1.0.20?

OK.  Problem resolved.  And here's how.

I uninstalled BFD3.  I then cleaned my registry and restarted.  I then downloaded the BFD3 software installer and every BFD3 update and installed them sequentially, in order.  Done.

Sometimes it's best just to start back at the beginning.

Good...

YES, I just had this same issue with Pro Tools 12.2.1.  I installed it through the Application
Manager and went to run it...CRASH.  Tried again...CRASH.  Uninstalled and reinstalled...CRASH.

Finally I went and uninstalled the HD Driver and everything other then my "preference files".

Reinstalled...works...what a PITA...but ya gotta do what ya gotta do

Glad you're up and running yorolpal and equally glad I'm no longer one of the few who can offer advice
in regards to BFD3 as there's an ever growing army of BFD3 pro's on here now which is great as I'm not able to log in as often these days.
