Blowing and drifting like mad up here in "God's Country". We might get as much as 20 inches or so when it's all done, but the drifting can be as bad or worse than the actual snow total. Also, to add insult to injury, we are going to have a high of only 15 F on Thursday. My wife just got safely home from work a few minutes ago, and I'm thankful for that.

No real snow here, but plenty of ice on the bridges.
Understand, they don't even know what a snowplow looks like in Fort Worth. The wind has been howling relentlessly since before dawn.
I'll take Colorado snow over the ice any day. I'm just glad I didn't have to work today. Not looking forward to tomorrow, though.

This just in:  (I live in Camden Co.)

CAMDEN COUNTY HAS OFFICIALLY SUSPENDED ALL SNOW REMOVAL OPERATIONS, AS CREWS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO KEEP UP WITH CONDITIONS. AS A RESULT, LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS ARE WARNING PEOPLE TO STAY OFF ALL ROADWAYS. THEY'RE ADVISING NO TRAVEL THROUGH TONIGHT. OPERATIONS WILL RESUME ONCE CONDITIONS IMPROVE

(and it's not just cause they're wimps...they've been going at it since morning....It's just coming down too fast.)

I'm sure glad I don't have to go anywhere!

We're lucking out this time around - snow-wise, at least - and not supposed to get any snow.  But, we're in the deep freeze... until the weekend, when temps are forecast to be around 30 during the day.  Winter on the high plains, gotta love it.

I stayed home.  I started to try to leave after lunch, but my driveway was still solid ice and I drive a rear wheel drive truck.  no traction in ice.

Beverly went to work this morning tho.  but she has no bridges or overpasses and she has a small front wheel drive.

Uuuugh,  I feel sorry for you guys/girls...  I know what it's like being originally from Queens NY & I was up in DC on a trip this past weekend.  I know it's cold as hell.  But here in Southwest Florida it was about 80 degrees today, it's now about 8:35 pm & I am sitting outside on the porch in a nice breeze & about 68 degrees.  It's one of the few times of year it's really nice to be in florida (hence all the snow birds clogging up our nice roadways).

Yeah, I could do that, but it would mean somebody else has to cover for me.
I'm a cable tech, and we knew what we were getting into when we signed on.
It takes a certain degree of crazy and dedication to do this job.
On the bright side, when the weather is good, I still get to work outside.

Well yesterday afternoon I got a nap, drank some whisky and did recording (in that order). However this morning I had the pleasure of spending 1 1/2 hrs shovelling a foot of snow off my driveway to be able to get my car out. Our Chicago office is closed but we're open?? WTF??!!!

-21 when I took the kids to school this morning... after a couple hours of sunshine, we're all the way up to -16.  If we get above 0 today I'll be surprised.  But, it's not snowing this time, for which I am thankful.  We got enough white stuff last time.

our driveway is still a solid sheet of ice.  I did, however, manage to make it in to work today (not yesterday at all).  but the roads are still pretty bad in areas.  there are "ruts" to drive in for most of the well-travelled areas, but not the bridges overpasses and some of the ramps.

I probably will go home early today, too.

Guys, you will all be in my thoughts as I lie on the beach over the next 2 weeks.

Just on my way out the door to the airport now, thought I'd throw in one last nah-nah-nah before I shut the computer down.

While you're out there shoveling snow, count your blessings and just remember there are some places in the world that don't have any snow at all!

    Later.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
