So far I've eliminated the following rationales:
 
1. Financial rewards
2. Impressing women
3. Contributing to a literary masterpiece - I came to the conclusion that the FSF will never get the literary respect it's due when no one recommended to Rain having it printed out into a leather bound multi volume set for his library. And on top of that, Pedro hasn't brought an interpretation of it to the theater stage yet!
 
I'm still working on the alibi angle, but I can't come up with any crimes I would want to commit that would not involve either too much work or getting my clothes dirty (I just did the laundry).
