You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes.
(At this point you may as well keep them, heck, you're a mile away and he's probably barefoot...)
Ah yes, but? There's no need to understand someone, if you walk 'on' that person, for a mile, whilst wearing their shoes... You get to keep the shoes, plus you get to see their face for the entire caper, adding reams of human-treadmill based, schadenfreude, to the action!
