Sweet! Thanks guys :-) This forum is invaluable. And people with good ears and years of experience can hear things that I just can't? Then when they say them, I go back and listen, and it's like yeaup, they're right. I used to fight it (in the beginning.) But I learned over the years, that it's a really bad idea... Especially when multiple people hear and comment on the same things. Thank you very much for your feedback, it really means a lot.

Just spent some time trying to make this better. It's basically envelopes. I've learned that you get it in, and then it's an effort to blend everything, and some of the blending needs to be dynamic. Mostly my snare, which sucked so badly to begin with (guilty) It was too punchy in the beginning (after I fixed it) And some more orchestral envelopes. And also the electric guitar. The .wav is sexier? It's no Kate Upton like the picture on Soundcloud? But I think it's better. I did it basically from listening to it as opposed to input from pros here, I'm trying to get better :-) One day, you'll say, "I knew him when... He had NO CLUE how to mix his shiz..." Please enjoy the bass guitar, I'm playing the fretless, it's not MIDI. The best version is on soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/rockinrobby In fact, after I said listen to the bass? I went back and boosted it because, well? It needed a boost.

Wow, what a great vocal you've got! Wonderful version, the arrangement is so smooth and the mix is perfect. The ritaarando is perfect too. Perhaps a slight panning of the instruments and just slightly more reverb. Congrats to a pro production!

I just did Remix4 based on Dan's excellent advice, I panned the orchestra harder, and also used channel tools to widen the orchestra, and kicked the bass in the rear a bit (punched it up). I'm liking remix4 :-) Dano? Thanks for helping me BOOK UM! WrinkleFree, thank you for listening and commenting!

Bub I've lost 40% of the hearing in my right ear, and that snare just comes through crystal clear baby. Whoa! The vocals are great, but it sounds kind of midi-ish to me. It's almost too perfect IYKWIM. And that snare ... bro ... it's gotta go if you can swing it. I used to do this song live back in the day. If I close my eyes, I'm right back there looking over the crowd, haze of smoke in the air, multi-colored lighting effect changing colors real slow, smell of stale booze, nicotine, and cheap perfume in the air. Ah, the good old days. Bub, thanks for your input. I was glad when I could actually rescue the project, I thought it was hosed. Since I got it back, I actually reworked it extensively! Your input is valued.

Alan, James, Scotty, Mark, Daryl, Ed and everyone, thanks so much for your input. I really appreciate it because the mixing is not my strong suit and I need all of the help I can get. Thanks very much! It has a big round bottom now, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. :-) Sofia Vergara? I rest my case...

Thanks Grant, if you just listened, you got the 4.5 version 4.6 version, the version 4? I was going for Sofia? But after listening a few times realized I ended up with Opera... So I pulled my bass down just a bit, and now I think I have Sofia ;-) My goal was to put that bass in your face, but not have it overwhelm things. I have it up on my Soundcloud site now too, which is clearer because it's a .wav

Well that's it, I will be moving everything over time from Reverbnation to Soundcloud, the results are "dramatic..." You can listen to just the 1st 20 seconds of this song on my RN page? And then listen to the exact same song, exact same mix on Soundcloud? RN won't let me upload a wav. So that's an MP3, Soundcloud let's me upload the wav. But again, the difference to me is stark, it is dramatic. Soundcloud sounds "100% better..." As witnessed here; www.reverbnation.com/rockinrobby and https://soundcloud.com/rockinrobby Just 20 seconds of each and the difference is obvious.

Hey, Robby the Robinator! I've been away from the forum for about six weeks, so I didn't hear the first few mixes of this, but this mix sounds fantabu-tastic! I really like how you "made it your own", and I definitely think it sounds better than the original. The production sounds excellent, and I really think you've got the strings and orchestration stuff down. Super duper, bro! Bob PS: Got to check out my two old faves of yours, "In Despair" and "I Love You Goodbye" while I was on your RN page.

Bass does sound good Robby. Sorry to go against the grain here but the strings sound dull to me. Other than that personal preference, the mix is really good to my ears.

Meatloaf sang "two outta 3 ain't bad?" If I can sneak an acceptable bass track past you? I'm happy!! :-) Thanks Ed!! I'm afraid the current version may still grab the listener a bit too hard by the nads... I've mixed it up and down several times... And as a bass player (like you?) Trust me... That's where I want to grab them? I may back it off another notch. I think I'm grabbing them a bit too hard. But I can't tell you how much I appreciate love from a fellow bass player :-) I really "really" appreciate your comments! I'll probably mix it back down tomorrow. It's late.

A favorite song, done wonderfully!!! I think there's bit too much reverb on your lead voice for verses on this track. The choruses sound just right. It's a very intimate song... and I think you can take your mix in that direction by backing off the reverb on the person to person sections of the dialog. I'm a big reverb kinda guy... so it's hard for me to say that... but the overall production is so nice... I think that it is worth mentioning. best regards, mike

I like the idea of changing the reverb in the song w/envelopes? I've never really modulated FX before within a song. I've always set them to what I thought sounded good. But the idea is pretty cool? So I turned the verb down a bit on the verses per Mike's suggestion. I also tweaked a bunch of other things "slightly..." Mostly EQ, a couple of envelop changes. Small changes I believe are best when something is close to how you want it? The remixing is a sickness I've learned? And I've got a pretty bad case of it... But as long as it's moving in the right direction? Maybe it's OK. Listen on soundcloud please; soundcloud.com/rockinrobby Their service and sound is superior in my opinion.
