Bee Gee's remix5 - 1-15
It's a pretty major production? (from me? Noooo!) I'm doing everything. The strings, flutes, harp are EW, the horns are EW and Mojo, the guitar is my PRS, the bass is my fretless Warwick. I did the drums (BFD2) It's at the top; To love some body http://soundcloud.com/roc...love-somebody-remix4-6 or www.reverbnation.com/rockinrobby I was trying to upload it to my soundcloud page and my AV SW kicked it out and said "WARNING!" So I don't know what's up with them. I may try to send them an email inquiry...

Wow - I love the Bee Gees. Haven't heard this in such a long time! Nice take on it - close to the original in many ways (strings, horns etc) but its got your stamp on it as well. Thanks for bringing this back , keeping their songs alive and adding your own Robbyness to the mix.

I really like the old (pre-disco) BeeGee's You handle this pretty good...... but dang,,,, that snare is horrid. setting over there to one side and sounding like slapping wet cardboard.... yikes! You are knocking out that bucket list..... great song.....

I don't know the song, but I'll bet that at least the vocals are better than the original. :) Nice job!

Ha, I forgot the BeeGees (shudder) did this. The version I think of is Michael Bolton's (shudder). Thank you for making this less fromage (french for cheese) for me. I enjoyed that.

Other than the aforementioned snare, this was a great track and an even greater vocal... superb singing, really. IMO- Much better than those Gibbs boys.

You made a great song your own. Panning the snare so wide is not all that unusual, it depends on the drum kit. Your vocal work is up to its usual high standard. A classy production all the way! HNY!

I realize that I enjoyed the pooch w/regard to that Snare. Unfortunately, when I was exploring options to fix it? I hosed the project up somehow... And it's going to take more time than I would like to invest to fix it :-( Lessons learned. I hope everyone has a prosperous and happy new year! Next for me is a few colabs? And maybe I'll finish an original I've been playing with for 20 years. Peace.

Needs a few more guitars and some more vocal layers? Could use 3 more snares and some excellent bass playing too? I know a great bass player for this? FYI: for anyone reading this..... it's just a game Robby and I play... no need to jump all over me.

Ha! I worked hard on that bass :-) It's my fretless. I never thought I'd be able to play that thing. But now I play it much more than my fretted (Alembic) which is no slouch? The Alembic is required for some songs because of its sound.. I'm playing it on one that Markno999 and I have been working on since Rocktober. And he was a relentless task master about it too. No, that's not good enough, no, the strings can't ring like that, play it like this (sample) Took me "weeks..." until I cobbled it together in an acceptable fashion for him. But you have to respect someone who does what we do who is a true and demanding perfectionist.

Please note, this reply has not been brought to you by Carolina Woods. "A few listens, once again you nailed it, made it yours, but to be honest that stereo snare I just don't know about. A classy production all the way! HNY!" Lynn, thanks very much, I hope you had a very relaxing holiday. I go back Monday :-( But it's been a really good one! "Well done Robby! Sounds like you had a blast doing this!" Dan, guilty as charged counselor! I throw myself on the mercy of the audience :-)

When it got to the chorus I remembered this track, you really sold it there and the emotion is carried. Listening on crappy small speakers but it sounds good and the choice of instruments with their respective melodies sound excellent. Really good rendition.

Whickity Wack! Thanks!! I basically did a tribute version based off of two of their versions, a live and a studio version (the production/arrangement) then it’s just a matter of listening to what was done and attempting to recreate it (WRT the instruments). I put a little Bee Gee spin on the vocal performance too just for fun! “Great job Robbay. Snare doesn't bother me. I think everything fits just right.” Timaaaay! I’m sure it could be improved on? It always sounds different ITB to me? And now that it’s out, and I’ve hosed the project, I don’t have the patience to go back in and fix it. Thanks for listening and for commenting! I heard disco was making a comeback Great orchestration, good tones. Good vocals as usual but I think they need a little more punch, they seem to be too far back to me. The harmonies are good, they could come up a tad too, they sound good. You would rule the lounge with this one! Daryl

As usual, the vocals are great! the mix is a bit of a mess and the midi strings sound a bit harsh, but that's just one opinion..

Love it Robby, perfect choice for your voice. The Gibbs have been, until quite recently, very under-rated writers. The drums are horrible btw..did anyone else mention that?

I've lost 40% of the hearing in my right ear, and that snare just comes through crystal clear baby. Whoa! The vocals are great, but it sounds kind of midi-ish to me. It's almost too perfect IYKWIM. And that snare ... bro ... it's gotta go if you can swing it. I used to do this song live back in the day. If I close my eyes, I'm right back there looking over the crowd, haze of smoke in the air, multi-colored lighting effect changing colors real slow, smell of stale booze, nicotine, and cheap perfume in the air. Ah, the good old days.

:-) Good news! My mix was saved twice? One was hosed... The other? Well... I think I made it a lot better... I EQ'ed the vox, I added envelopes on the orchestra, I changed the overall limiter, I did a lot to it. I think it's better? But I am very biased.. I spent hours on it. It may have been better (for me) if I could not recover it. Oh? And the snare? It sucks less :-D (I hope?) It's punchy? But it's not punching you in the side of your head? And it has more snap? And the drums overall are better (IMO) And the strings breath better? Along w/the whole orchestra. But again, I am very biased.. The new mix is up on my RN site @ www.reverbnation.com/rockinrobby and at; https://soundcloud.com/rockinrobby At the top. It's funny, there is a difference between the two. The RN version is "smoother." But the SCloud version is a bit truer to my mix? The soundcloud version is louder and clearer.
