Thanks for the general support everyone. Glad some of you at least are finding Plus useful, though I understand it's not for everyone. Don't forget that Plus does a lot more than just show a toolbar full of buttons for existing SONAR functionality. It adds quite a bit of new functionality to SONAR too - Batch freeze, BitBridge window 'fix', separate snap to grid settings for PRV & TV, quick close all plugins, extra CV, PRV and Staff menu buttons, Rapture/Dimension preset search, full screen mode, hide the MultiDock etc. If you want just one of these features, customize your toolbar so it only has one button! You don't have to have a big toolbar full of buttons. There's also no reason why you couldn't run Plus just to batch freeze some tracks (for example), and then close it straight afterwards. A question for some of those who mentioned they don't like the Plus toolbar: Is it just the way it looks (the toolbar colour, some/all of the button icons etc) that bothers you, or simply the fact that you don't like toolbars with lots of small buttons? If it's just the way it looks, what sort of look/layout would you prefer. I like SteveStrummerUK's custom Control Bar module for example.

I think that key bindings and tool icons should come out of the browser. You could set up a GUI of a standard AT keyboard and drag and drop SONAR commands on a key. If you wanted to use a key combo you would hold down your modifier key while you dragged the command icon on to your key. Or you could drag and drop them from the browser on to the control bar and an icon would appear and the command would be assigned to it. To take even a step further you could open a right click menu and DnD commands from the browser into the drop down menu and it would be added to the right click menu.

I don't have any problem with the Bakers adding some old functionality for users who prefer the old interface but I would not hold my breath waiting for any such changes. I just think the horse has left the barn and the new interface is here to stay. I believe any good software should give users the choice. Simple as that. I personally think Sonar Plus adds alot to X1. Even if you don't use anything but the full screen mode, that's still a cool feature that SHOULD be in X1 regardless of how you use the software otherwise. I would be willing to bet that every user would like more screen real estate to work with. And I'm pretty sure the 'Bakers' know about it, and I bet it's giving them some good ideas. Same thing goes for Panup's mods. When I first got X1 I thought it was cool. But now with these mods, I think it's awesome. Sans bugs of course. I believe every X1 user should be happy about these. I wonder if other daw forums have stuff like this going on. I doubt it.

I just don't like all the little tool icons and was thinking fine, now I need to learn all those little icons that I hated so much in previous versions. BUT I can now see the added tools in the PRV and the CV and I'm even more impressed with your work. Up until now I have not been a big fan of your mod, but a HUGE of you and your efforts and the contribution you have given to this community. I'm now going to take some time to learn more about it though and want to make sure you know that even if it may not fit the way I work your contribution has NOT gone unnoticed and I for one am very very grateful to have you as a part of this community.

Here's a question. I don't like the full screen mode because I can't see the name of the project I'm working on and sometimes I have more than one project open or I'm experimenting and want to see the name. Is there a way to get the project name to show in full screen mode?

Being able to add the icons to the CB, at the CB size would be awesome, but I too understand this is not for everyone.

This is where SONAR Plus lives on my screen. I wish that it would look more built in once it is in position. As I mentioned on the other forum, is it possible to use some sort of transparent bitmap image for the background of the toolbar so that it would disappear and seemingly make the icons look like they were part of the menu.

pwal i'd be interested to know if the new ui attracted more new users than it p1ssed off old? Raising my hand meekly... Well, depends on how we define "new user". I have 6, 7, and 8.5, but didn't use them due to their confusingness (to me). I've been a "purchaser" but not a "user". I have X1A and I like the interface better than any prior iteration. Just a few things that make another DAW the better choice for me at this time. Plus, time is limited these days so I'm waiting for X1B before I try again. So am I a "new" user? or maybe an "almost new" user? Or just merely an old user who simply doesn't know what's good for him? You decide! My real reason for keeping up since V6 is for the bundled VST's, and for that the Producer Edition has been worthwhile (for me). PE fills in a lot of gaps and the VST's (and some of the effects) offer many alternatives which I like. If X1B happens to give me another fine working DAW out of the deal, then all the better. Winning!
