Anyone like the Godzilla remake with Mathew Broderick?  I thought it was fun.

You'd think he'd be too short to play Godzilla...

Hate to keep correcting you, but because I am a huge South Park nerd, I believe that is

To put it mildly, that sucked. My wife and I call it Godzilla's Class Trip to NYC. The one that came after that - Godzilla 2000 - was way better. It was done by the original production (Toho) and they went back to the original thing of a guy in a rubber suit for Godzilla for this movie. Interesting thing was they couldn't reproduce the roar of Godzilla (Gojira in Japan) so they sampled the old original movies for it.

My bests (in no particular):
Godzilla
Nosferatu (the original)
original Frankenstein's Monster (people get it all wrong as Frankenstein was the name of the monster's creator)
Daleks

For me, the most memorable monster was from The Twilight Zone.

 The monster's name was Anthony.

I'm actually a bit afraid of typing this... he might turn me into a jack-in-the-box.

But, Anthony, this is a good thing.....really!.......it is a good thing that I am typing this.....a very good thing.

I wasn't nominating it for the scariest list and I knew a lot of Godzilla fans disliked it.  Still, I didn't take it too seriously and I enjoyed watching it and I respect your opinion of the "class trip".  I avoided 2000 because it looked so much like a guy in a rubber suit.  Maybe I'll have another look.

That is/was the whole thing behind Godzilla and why it was so good to begin with - it wasn't high-tech cgi but a good old-fashioned person in a costume. No motion capture, nada. I'm kinda old-school like that. Some like old, some new and there's nothing wrong with that. One of the neat things with Godzilla was in the later movies he had a heart and actually protected the humans he once did battle with. Never really thought he was scary at all.
