Best movie monsters of all time

Me
Godzilla - first and foremost
Mothra- but likely because I have a thing for the singing twin 1" girls that bring Mothra out
Ghidora - the three headed thing from planet x - another awesome one - particularly when he is golden
Mecha-Godzilla - though technically not a monster but a machine to fight Godzilla
Destroyah -a seriously bad a$$ mo fo.
Space Godzilla - Godzilla on roids

Not so much -
Rodan - Mothra without the hot fairies
Biolante - that messy thing that looks like a wet rug in the Godzilla movies
Hedorah the smog monster - blah blah blah
Ebirah - the shrimp/lobster thing - maybe scary if you are surfing, but no threat to Godzilla.

Its a shame Cloverfield could not match up to Godzilla.  We need someone to attach NYC unprovoked every once in a while.

Away from Godzilla
The critter from Alien/Aliens/Return of the son of Aliens jr
The thing from the THING - the John Carpenter/Kurt Russel one.
Rosie O'Donnell - as scary as it gets.
Nancy Pelosi - actually scarier.  Likely to explode bo-tox when the face lifts finally break
The big ants from THEM!
The Monolith Monsters
The Flesh Eaters - though you never see them
The Blob
The Body Snatchers
Not a big fan of mummy/dracula/frankie.

You?

This one is kind of scary

Warning - kind of adult content if you consider a 40' tall boobie made of plastic hunting down and killing innocent bystanders to be adult content.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7loP7OsLZ8

After they catch this thing with 1/2 of a 40' bra, i seem to recall some type of warning - be careful, these things usually travel in pairs.

    And their Garthim henchmen.

On one level, the visual aspect (aesthetic?), it’s probably easy to differentiate between Godzilla and Frankenstein.  But I think, on another level, you can make an argument that to a degree, they represent or reflect some of the same fears and the realization of the danger of science and technology run amuck, Godzilla (1954) coinciding with the nuclear era and Frankenstein (1818) with that of the harnessing of electricity.  Personally, I am in the Godzilla camp and have always been a big fan.  The ants from “Them” always scared the bejesus out of me when I was little and if I was categorizing, I would put the ants in the same fear category as Godzilla and again, to some extent Frankenstein, although Frankenstein, along with Dracula and the Mummy throw in that un-dead component which I guess can affect their likability.  Additionally, and I guess coincidently, whenever I get into one of those discussions about “if you could have written any song what would it have been” my serious reply is Godzilla by BOC, and one of my all-time favorite “desert island” songs … you guessed it, Edgar Winter’s Frankenstein.

My favourite was Frankenstein's Monster in Young Frankenstein.
Not only could he scare the villagers and send them into a vigilante frenzy, but he could tap-dance and sing 'Putting On The Ritz" at the same time.

The Godzilla type monsters are terrifying because of what they do.
The Frankenstein/Dracula/werewolves type monsters are terrifying because of what they are.
I think Godzilla is somewhat amusing.
Frankenstein and Dracula are scary on a more conceptual level.
Lycanthropes bug the heck out of me. Thankfully, werewolves are not real.
    Or are they?

We had Chiller Theater in the 70's in my neck of the woods in NJ. I was terrified of the opening commercial when I was a kid. It was on really late at night on WPIX Channel 11 out of NYC. I'd sit there all curled up on my mom's lap and we'd watch it together. Then in the 80's came Saturday Night Dead starring Stella The Man Eater From Manayunk out of Philly. Good times man.

Chiller Theater (Sounds like Homer Simpson at the end LOL! Whoa, that thing has too many fingers!)

Saturday Night Dead Starring Stella That Man Eater From Manayunk

It's hard to say what my favorite monster is. Bub really wasn't a bad guy in the zombie movie even so he's pretty high up on my list. There are two that still give me the creeps to this day. First is the original guy who played Nosferatu, Max Schreck. Second is the leader vampire from the made for TV movie Salem's Lot. I had nightmares for a week after I first saw that.

If I remember correctly, the scene from Godzilla (the one with Raymond Burr) that really gave me the chills was when they were in the mine hip-deep in really dark, opaque water and something (Godzilla) was swimming are and attacking the miners.

Gorgo, and The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms were both Godzilla wannabees.  Gorgo attacks London and the Beast attacks NYC.  They were fairly entertaining as I recall.

The crab from Mysterious Island gave me the chills when I was a young lad.
