JohnoL Beagle musicman100 @ Beagle (and others) Just got off the blower with a nice lady at PG Music, and yes she credited my account for what I spent already, and charged the difference for the Ultra Pack Hard Drive!!! WHAT GREAT SERVICE!!! This will be the 3rd HD Pak I purchased from them and really is a convenient way to purchase the product. I knew they would. they're a great company and I've seen them do the same thing numerous times. enjoy! Once I ordered online and chose an upgrade option. They (or their system) saw that I had chosen a more expensive upgrade than I needed based on the version I had and they changed the order to a lower price. I've not personally had that happen or really heard of it before, but it does not surprise me at all. They're very good about "making it right for the customer"

I just installed the upgrade to version 2012......I wanted this program for only 2 instruments that I don't have in my studio....fiddle and pedal steel for some country compositions....instead of typing the chords in to audition pedal steel parts, I thought I would just import the .wav of the tune and let chord wizard do it's thing.....well chord wizard isn't that accurate, imo.....is typing the chords in from scratch the only way to audition pedal steel parts? Thanks!

Thanks! Play with the algorithms on the chord wizard tab. I find it gets confused soemtimes. I will change the sensitivity and decode settings(Im not in front of the program so i dont remember the nomenclature). You can get close to about 99 % correct chords, and figure out the clams. Once converted into BIAB you can edit the wrong chords. Other than that yea, the only way to get chords in is to manually input them . You can find an existing real tracks tune to audition the phrases that are exisitng in that real track song. You do know there are different phrases , so go trough them till you find the phrase that fitas your tune. Prob a better place to ak is the PG forum, some good info there

sometimes the chord wizard is dead on, other times, not so much. it depends on how complicated the chords are in the wave file and if you have a lot of "passing notes" or not. if you have passing notes it will usually detect the chord as an alternate chord that is actually nothing like the real chord since it's adding that passing note to your chord structure. I only use the chord wizard if I don't know or can't obtain the chords of the song I'm working on. if I know the chords or can get them then I enter them manually.

Gaffpro, are you importing your entire wav into BiaB? If so that confuses BiaB as every passing note will show up in BiaB as either another chord or a modified chord as Beagle has said. I have found that the best way is to just input the simplest chord structure you already have in a track sans any effects. That is your best chance to get the correct chords in BiaB. If you have this as a midi track that is even better as you can copy it to another track, strip out all of the non-chord notes, save a wav then input that into BiaB. This method works best for me when I generate a specific RT track in BiaB. I hope this helps and good luck.

I have used the chord wizard a few times..... It is not exactly dead on all the time as has been mentioned. I find it easier most of the time to simply type in the chords into the BB main screen. Another problem area is to get BB to sync exactly to the beginning of the wave unless the wave has the correct amount of silence at the beginning..... 2 measures exactly. With some editing it is possible to get it there. Beagle.... last time I updated BB 2011 (IIRC) I ordered the DVD version thinking it was what I wanted. When it arrived it did not have the stuff in it I was looking for in the upgrade. A call to PG and 5 minutes later the issue was easily sorted out. For $25 more I found out I needed the HD version and they sent me the new hard drive, and told me to keep the DVD's as well. I now have several DVD versions dating back to the first one I bought and 2 hard drive versions. PG music really understands the concept of customer service. I will buy from them again.

I have 3 hard drives now. when I get the new one and get it updated, I usually update the previous one in order to have a backup.

Great thread: Biab is a must have for me for experimentation: 1) great for vocalists who love to experiment with instruments 2) drag and drop from Biab into Sonar 3) Grab a 'happy' accident with MIDI or with 16-bit "REAL" drums or "REAL" instruments 4) I 'employed' it for Arriba, a spanish song I wrote with Julianna (Julibee) 5) I suppose a proficient 'singer' could write 5-10 song-sketches a day with Biab ... without stressing out the creative sparks Biab, for me, is strictly best used in 'conjunction' with other 'better' melodies (per Herb), vibrant singers, MIDI experimentation with corresponding instruments, and the instruments Herb mentions (above). Without a creative artist, Biab sounds like robotics, to my ears.

BB has so many good things about it and a few of them is the ability to lay out a song and hear it quickly, making changes to chords, structure, style, and keys on the fly.
