Biscuits
I'm talking about these: Not these: these: or these: I like them with butter and honey. The first ones, I mean. The others are good by themselves. Except for the last ones. They're more of an aquired taste.

There is no problem with raisins in a gravy providing it is the right type of "gravy" and Mr. Sir St Rummy Strummer would understand this completely.

Beagle who in their right mind would put raisins in biscuits and then put gravy on them???? yuck!! I would not put raisins in biscuits either. Although, sausage gravy is good on a cinnamon raisin bagel. I know, I'm wierd like that. Sausage gravy is not that easy to make unless you know what your doing. Great stuff to have every once and a while.

I have fond memories of the first one. Home made fresh out of my grandma "nannies" oven. The way she made them they were thinner and very good indeed. They were great under gravy or with butter or jelly. A biscuit that had sat too long(and there weren't many) could be used as building materials for a house or for wheel chocks on your car....they got really hard after awhile. But fresh.........yum

As Beagle said, scones are NOT biscuits. Different textures, different amount of ingredients in each. Though not for me: gravy with raisins = some sort of rum/raisin mix? Also raisins are very good mixed in with curry. For whatever reason, I have much more success making biscuits than scones. Homemade buttermilk buscuits... yum. Especially like blueberry scones though.

Those in pic1 are definitely not biscuits.......I wish you Americans would stop calling things by the wrong name, it makes things awfully confusing. Hard to tell if they are scones (best served with lashings of clotted cream and jam) or dumplings which could be good with gravy. Oh and raisins are not good with curry - my Mum puts raisins and banana in curries!!! She hasn't got a clue when it comes to good curry.

This has been a real challenge to read - Beagle started talking about Southern food and I was off to the races... On another front entirely, raisins are mighty fine when soaked in bourbon and then mixed into pancake batter prior to assembling breakfast. Or so I hear...
