We are almost done working our way through the lightning connector change which will bring it to a lot of our current accessories. Also, iKlip 2 is only a few weeks away from shipping so I'd keep an eye out before getting the original.

thanks for that Obi.

I think I'll wait a while before I buy an iRig MIDI (which I was about to do) and see if there's a lightening version out soon.\

what improvements are there for the iklip 2?

Glad you didn't order yet. Yeah we have an Apple store here too about 15 miles away but I thought 4.00 shipping .vs 4.00 gas and my time to go get it...lazy I guess.

the apple store in Ft. Worth is between work and home.  not directly the way I normally go, but not far enough out of the way that I'd mail order something instead.

iRig MIDI will work with the 30 pin adapter that Apple sells. There are no connector cables besides the Micro USB cable to charge the device. The lightning cable we are working on will be for our other devices like iRig KEYS and a few other upcoming products like iRig HD, which is a digital interface that also works with Macs.

Eeh... Is there a difference between the iklip And iklip 2? They look the same to me.

Either way, I've been looking at this thing too.

The original was designed for the original. They have gotten thinner and we had to release adapters for the iKlip 1 to match the newer iPads. Now we are releasing the iKlip 2 so you don't need adapters.

Hey reese/Beagle check the Peavey tablet mount system, comes with adapters for all generations of I pad, has varied mounting systems and is LESS expensive than the I THINGY ($30)
I just got mine in , pretty nifty , I removed my Ipad from the case thought, I think you are looking for a solution with the case?????

I have been curious about soundcard interfaces for iPad - I don't think my MOTU will work with it, there's probably only a few soundcards which will.

Roland has one http://www.roland.co.uk/products/productdetails.aspx?p=1248

I must admit I am a long way from being bitten. I do like my 80GB iPod because I can carry my complete music collection where ever I go. I could not do that with an iPad. And forget about "the cloud" and Spotify etc in some of the places I end up.

I have seen a few cover bands here in Dubai using iPads in place of sheet music / lyric sheets, its looks like a good tool for that application.

Intel i7 3770K @4.4GHz, 32GB RAM, 240GB SSD System disk, 2 x 2TB and 1 x 1TB (with SSD Cache) HDD. Windows 10,  Sonar Platinum. Roland Quad Capture.
Music - Switchwater on Soundclick
Music - Goldry Bluszco on Soundcloud

It kinda looks like an over priced, and under powered laptop the way you have it set up there.

I'd probably want a real pair of headphones too... so that I could enjoy listening to what ever it is that is coming down the pipe.

I thought the whole idea was that the iPad was portable, slick and capable.... kinda like a laptop.

best regards,
mike

I use it for that!  Our band leader has an ipad, too, and he puts all of the music on a dropbox folder and just tells us which ones to download and use for the week.  pretty cool setup.

We use one as a teleprompter on occasions when the production doesn't have a budget for a full featured teleprompter.

If you have a 2nd iPad you can control it remotely.

Me I like mine. I use the iPhone to capture quick ideas and then move them over to Garageband on the iPad for a demo that I can share with the band. Then move the demo over to Logic and start building the tracks with the band and control Logic using the iPad as a remote DAW control using an App (AC-7 Core HD). Yeah I got bit a while ago.....

I use my iPad to remote control my mixer for FOH, it's a Presonus SL24 and comes with its own dedicated remote program.  Just set the mixer at side of stage, no need for long multi-cores, and take the iPad to where ever you want to mix from.

It's great for setting foldback monitor levels, no more fighting with the primadonna vocalist. Just get up on stage with the iPad and listen yourself to how excellent your monitor mixes really are...

Talking of monitors,  there is a companion remote that runs on iPhones and iPods which allows every band member to set the level and mix of their own monitor,  within limits that you allow from FOH.
