Browser issue - "Building Transient List"

Hi folks,
Wondering if anyone would be kind enough to see if my issue is reproducible on other systems.

Procedure:
1) Boot Sonar (currently using most recent version - this issue persists across several updates)
2) Create new "BASIC" or "BLANK" project
3) Audition audio files in the browser (either a quick play or complete playthrough) on default settings
4) Close project
5) Wonder why there is a "Building transient list" message and process in the control bar transport module. This will hang Sonar completely whilst finishing. There seems to be one message with a quick progress bar per file auditioned.

I rely on auditioning files in the browser to compare reference levels, listen to riff ideas, audition demo tracks etc and this really cramps my workflow. Having to wait for the transient list message spam to finish is a giant timesink.

Using: Win10, RME AIO - all up to date drivers.

Here is an old thread where I describe the issue along with another user - http://forum.cakewalk.com/Transient-List-Message-On-Close-m3322591.aspx

Thanks for taking the time to read this report. Cheers!

Are the samples you are auditioning at a different rate than you are using in SONAR?

i.e. SONAR is set to  44.1 and the samples are at 48.

Sadly not. For the majority of my project demos I use 44.1 and my 'ideas library' is also in 44.1. All 16 bit files. I only use higher sample rates and bit depths when doing final versions and masters.

    Good idea tho!

Just noticed that if I click on the window when it is "Building transients" the app goes into white-screen / not responding. Not sure if that helps at all. Control is only resumed when it has completed the building of lists.

I've tried monitoring disk activity / registry access using sysinternals tools but alas I'm too stupid to decode them. There is a lot of activity on both of these during the "Building..." process.

What is the bit depth you have SONAR set to work in internally?  This might explain it if you are working internally at 24 bit then the Samples would be changed then.  Just a furry thought.

Just checked - project is set to 44.1 / 16 bit and the problem remains. Soundcard is fixed at 24 bit (RME AIO) and cannot change. Could this be the cause, surely not!

PS. My cat would truly adore the fuzzy dude in yer picture... I just know it, its like catnip (i.e. hilarious and tweet) to her. She is staring at me now with a 'gimme' look on her face.

I did do a check and am seeing similar messages, consequently I have know idea, sorry perhaps an email to support or customer services might get an explanation.

Thanks for your help Wookiee. Tried two forum posts about this issue (Dec. and recently) so I'll move on to a problem report.

    Fingers crossed...
