I vote we have a new forum called the Dumping ground this would sit one below the last forum below all the other forums.  Where all this sad subject matter can be disposed of.

Hear, hear. I was thinking of calling a spade a spade and naming it the Kvetch forum... but dumping ground will do.

So where DO most coffee houses dump their grounds?  Or am I missing the subject here?  BRB - Caffeine extraction complete...

*sigh* We've worked so hard to create an ethos of off-topic silliness to take our minds off what's going on upstairs... and then CW goes and drags us off off-topic, and it just ruins everything.

I think the Coffee House needs a 'liberation front'....

I really fail to see the humour here, this is a very serious subject that was broached by the OP .

I mean, really , who doesn't feel that X1 DID change how we feel about our GUI, workflow,  revenue and income, world peace, blood pressure, angst, clear thought, civil discourse, productivity, game changing allegiance, jumping the ship to other DAWS,  jumping sharks, a rise in drug, alcohol, spousal and pet abuse .

We know that the majority of "real users" dont venture down here  , so much to their dismay, they can no longer input their very valuable commentary and wisdom, and the holey  trinity of super duper to the 10th power  power users have not chimed in since it was sludged down here.

well now back to your regularly scheduled program ..

Not intended as an attack - and apologies if I missed something and am inappropriately serious...

In its previous incarnation, the Coffee House was infamous as a nasty, combative, unpleasant forum.  It got closed down.

Now that it's back, there are a lot of us who really enjoy it being here and don't want it declining to its previous inglory.

I don't think anyone here denies anyone else the right/privilege of venting when CW's product(s) don't perform up to expectation.

Since there's no assigned venue for b*ching and nastiness, unfortunately, threads that descend from polite, reasoned statements into name-calling and other undesirable acts... get booted downstairs.

I'm a hobbyist-level user, so I don't run into a lot of these problems that light fires "upstairs."  But, I do use other "pro" software in my work, which sometimes misfires.  When the software doesn't work, it slows me down, which can create problems in other things. I get it!

IMHO we wouldn't have a lot of these problems if, rather than trying to provoke a response out of the company on its peer-to-peer forums, anyone (and everyone) who has a serious/legit beef about the software because it's hurting their business would pile on to tech support and customer service and push for changes or improvements, there might be some productive responses that would help.

So long as there is a dedicated core of people who maintain the culture of "buying and b*ching" they really have no incentive to change - dysfunction supporting dysfunction. It's simple economics.

Cakewalk is a company like any other. Their health and livelihood depend on providing products that create, retain, and expand a customer base so their revenues keep flowing and profits keep growing. If enough people threaten their income by either not upgrading or switching to another product, I guarantee that you WILL get their attention.

Carry on.

Re:CW Apology needed... 2011/03/01 11:26:51 (permalink)
We're all (mostly) CW software users here.  I think we all understand how frustrating it can be when we have problems with software.  Money's tight for everyone, so this is a big deal for those who have problems.  There's a difference between reporting a bug, networking with others to find a solution, and lashing out at other customers.

I think it's very helpful when folks report bugs and work collaboratively to find solutions (where possible).  It's the extremely negative posts written to attack and insult people, often other customers, that become a problem.

I think the real reason that you don't often see the villains from above darkening our doorway is that they know they can't achieve their goals here.  I think that the "normal" denizens of the upstairs forums can find their way down here if they choose to do so.  I found the Coffee House by following a thread downstairs.  (You guys might want to change the sign to prevent that from happening again...)

I hope that those who have something significant to offer are not dissuaded from doing so merely because the thread now has a few "special" folks chiming in.

Oh, and I have to vote against having Bapu change his name to Loretta.  I had this mental image of the CHB doing a metal cover of "Coal Miner's Daughter".
