We've just added a new SONAR: Go Deeper video to complement the first entry that was added earlier this week. This is the first SONAR: Go Deeper video focusing on AudioSnap 2.0. Enjoy! (...and yes more are on the way...)

SONAR: Go Deeper
SONAR: Go Deeper - PX-64 Percussion Strip
This Go Deeper video dives into the PX-64 Percussion Strip plugin. It shows each of its processors in action and explains when and how to use them. Thanks to Cakewalk Product Specialist Seth Perlstein for this video.

SONAR: Go Deeper - AudioSnap 2.0 Drum Replacement
This Go Deeper video dives into one of the many useful things you can do with SONAR's powerful AudioSnap feature. Here, a poorly recorded kick drum track is salvaged by converting the performance to a MIDI triggered kick drum in Session Drummer 3

Re:SONAR Video Series (in full HD) New! 2010/09/23 10:01:31 (permalink)
Thanks for the nice video Seth, as usual.

Now we need the "Audio Snap 2: Going Deeper" video(s) with in depth examples of beat mapping and best practices on how to adjust the timing of multi-track instruments like drums.  Something I've gotten into the habit of doing is placing markers before and/or after a section of a clip I'm adjusting in order to prevent surrounding parts that don't need adjusting from moving out of time.  That's one thing you could show in the in-depth video.  On second thought, beat mapping might not be the best thing to show since some (if not, most) of us are having problems with that.  Any news on when this will be fixed?

Thanks again Seth!

Pretty Cool Seth what you did with AS 2 and the session drummer( with slices).. Can you do the same thing if you just double click the audio clip , In loop editor?  will apply trimming work on that?

And can we have a series of similar tutorials on AudioSnap please? Every time I try and use it I end up thrashing about and coming away thinking "I must be thick, but I just don't understand how to get what I need here".

Yeah. I had it figured out in 6 and 7, then they went and changed it on me. Can't get it to work without typing in the degree of change I want in the transients. I'm not doing something somewhere, I'm sure.

Re:SONAR Video Series (in full HD) New! 2010/10/05 16:05:03 (permalink)
Just watched the Audio Snap videos, and it all looks so easy now. Can't wait to try it out.

I'm curious how you would go about replacing a whole drum kit from a poorly recorded kit? Would this work: Make a duplicate of the kit recording for each piece of the kit (so for a five piece drum kit, you'd have five copies of the kit recording). Then, EQ each track to bring out a different single piece of the kit. Then convert the resulting transients to MIDI.

Or is there an easier way? Would love to see a tutorial on that!

Keep up the good work on the vids. Love it.

Dear Cakewalk.

Just got the e-mail with the new videos.

Once again your videos are in online viewable format only.

This is inconvenient for two reasons:

1. Not everyone has the luxury of high speed internet
connectivity. (Like me.)

2. It is also fairly wide practice not to have ones
studio PC connected to the internet.

If you could only see your way to making your training
videos available in downloadable form.

It cannot be that hard. Please, please, please.

SONAR: Go Deeper - PX-64 Percussion Strip This Go Deeper video dives into the PX-64 Percussion Strip plugin. It shows each of its processors in action and explains when and how to use them. Thanks to Cakewalk Product Specialist Seth Perlstein for this video.

Awsome stuff, guys. I finally got around to watching all the vids. I wasn't too excited about it, initially, because I enjoy figuring everything out for myself, and thought I knew most of the tools pretty well. But the PX64 and Drum Production vids were a mixing lesson all in themselves. I actually followed Seth through all the drum vids, step by step, and reproduced the finished drum sequence and mix - a great learning experience! Keep 'em coming.

Seth, mark me down as another vote for downloadable videos. I'd like to have them on my laptop for viewing while traveling. It would be a nice alternative to the usual in-flight entertainment selections.

And consider offering them on DVD, too, for those without high-speed internet access. You could hand them out at NAMM instead of T-shirts! Except I still want a T-shirt.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Hey, have you tried just putting "CakeTV" into a searchbox.....you get this little kids' TV show. Can't even find CakeTV from cakwewalk unless you input the whole company and everything... that was funny.... "hello boys and girls... today we study room coeffcients and Feltchure Muson curves and how they relate to dbs in daily life." and now a word from Hasbro.
I do like  CakeWalks' CAKETV, so don't get me wrong.....kids.
