Another vote for downloadable PDFs of the tips. PDFs are good cos they're keyword-searchable. I wish I had a PDF of the book, too, so I could have it on my laptop without having to haul the book around, but I understand about the piracy thing. You work hard on these, Scott, you deserve not to be ripped off. BTW, Scott, you might be the guy to ask about this: for those who are running 64-bit but have occasion to install Sonar 8 32-bit as well to use some 32-bit plugins, any tips would be appreciated (my experience described here: see post 9 in this thread )

Hey Phoenix, The only thing I can think of that might help with the problem that you mentioned in the other post is to use two different Windows logins... one for 64-bit stuff and another for 32-bit stuff. That way the personalization should be separate. However, for me... I have a partitioned drive with both 32-bit and 64-bit OS's installed, which makes things much easier. This ensures that there are never any problems because everything is completely separate. Best, Scott -- Scott R. Garrigus - Author of the Cakewalk Sonar and Sony Sound Forge Power book series. Thanks, Scott. That's the way I've got it now, dual-booting WinXP SP3 and Win7 64-bit. I won't be able to keep it that way indefinitely though, cos I have to move my WinXP to another computer by year's end. So I'm trying to plan ahead. I have considered the idea of installing Sonar 7 PE in 32-bit; that way there would also be no confusion. I think they're similar enough that I'd be able to transfer projects between them when necessary...

if you use some newer features in a SONAR 8 project and open it in SONAR 7, you may lose some data That's probably true, but the first probem I ran into when opening an S8 project in S7 was that the track heights all defaulted to minimized, which would make going back and forth pretty painful. S8 must store this info in a different place.

I haven't tried that, Susan. I suppose it would probably do the trick. I don't really care too much, as I don't plan to be using earlier versions, except maybe for trouble-shooting bugs. I just noticed it when I re-opened a project I use all the time as a kind of template for new projects or just for playing live.

Yep, Views > Layouts should do the trick. Not sure why the project layout wouldn't be backwards compatible though. Scott

he's probably too busy re-packing it up to send to the to me, since he's not finished that fishing book and well it's a big distraction.. good job he made an unpacking vid , so he knows how to repack it. I think maybe he's taking time out to learn it I guess, and it'd have to feature in his next book also?

Scott, get back to work with your beta copy of Sonar 9. You know the drill: Learn the new features, copy and paste the rest of the book, and then get out there on the water. It's a great book. Just seems like for repeat customers that you're buying the same book over and over again. I don't know. Why not change up the verbs or something?

Hi Scott, got your SP and it's a great goto reference. Thanks for the tips especially #9 it saves a lot of splitting and clicking on segments. Is there any way to make the markers move up to follow the deleted tracks so they match without having to manually move them?

Why not change up the verbs or something? there was a time where you were polite to Scott, funny how things change.. perhaps conduct yourself on the steinberg forum like you do here, I know for a fact you'll get booted off there. perhaps you should keep your snide remarks to yourself if you can't say anything nice or at least polite. half the time I'm thinking you just buy sound on sound read a review and actually think you know what your talking about..lol.. second hand knowledge is a dangerous thing sometimes.

Hey Craig -- I've already got a couple V-Studio threads... one right here in the stickies section of the SONAR forum: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=1794767 and another over at DigiFreq: http://www.digifreq.com/d...opic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3996 Hey Fog -- Yep... you're gonna have a great Christmas this year! But whatever you get will have to come from Santa Claus... Nick -- If you don't like the books, don't buy them. That should solve your problem. Hey Max -- Thanks! I appreciate it. Do you mean tip 8? The one about deleting measures? Yeah, if you put a checkmark next to the Markers option in the Delete dialog box, that will delete any markers in the selected region and it will also move up the remaining markers. Hey Ron -- No problem. I'm glad you enjoyed the tips! Hey Tom -- Thanks very much! I hope you enjoy the book. Best, Scott -- Scott R. Nick P "Scott, get back to work with your beta copy of Sonar 9. You know the drill: Learn the new features, copy and paste the rest of the book, and then get out there on the water." You know, Nick ... some people try and get their point across like they're throwing the info at you "hard-ball" which makes it difficult for the receiver to catch/grasp. Whereas your approach is more like a gentle, underarm throw. Yes, I've always thought of you as more of a tosser...
