I have multiple anti-personalities.  When they encounter actual personalities, the result is usually a massive explosive reaction.  On occasion, however, it sometimes results in the spontaneous creation of a chocolate cake.  Scientists are still unable to explain this.  Some have theorized that the cake was always there, but locked away in a hidden dimension.  A blindfolded Rubik's cube battle was held to determine the validity of this theory, but Dr. Pudley Guberstonk blew out his thumb in a freak Rubik's cube / coffee mug accident.  As a result, the scientific community has determined that those who favored the pre-existent cake hypothesis are whackos and must now park in the remote lot.

Well, below is what my first car was.  Mine looked even golder than this example (hand-me-down from my grandfather).  My crazy millionaire uncle (who was the chief mechanic for a car at the Indy 500 twice back in the mid-60's) did some special modifications to it.  It ended up with a 560 (removing the stock 472), dual Holley 780's with extra large secondaries, a Littlefield blower and positraction (on a shorter rear axle with fatter wheels tucked in so you didn't really notice a difference).  At one point it even had a nitrous kit, but that damaged the stock camshaft.  It got less than 5 mpg and was nearly undriveable with all that torque - the wheels would spin too easily!  It could go over 160mph in a straight line if you had the onions to attempt it.  So much fun though...

So ....apparently, the topic is still relatively close to color of cars.....

I had seen this but passed it by .... until a comment by my wife last night as we were heading out of town.

We passed the fire station. They were having a work night or a meeting or something because the parking lot was filled with vehicles. Not just any vehicles...... in particular, an abundance of RED PICKUP TRUCKS and my wife non-nonchalantly mentioned.... "look at all those red pickups."

It got me thinking..... but not for long....

anyway, just an observation.

My family had a fire engine once.  Well, we had a car with an engine that would spew flames.  It may have had something to do with our "starting technique."  The engine could never start on its own.  To start it, one person had to pour gasoline into the carburator while the other one cranked the starter.  When it caught, you could lose some arm hair.  I think we drove that car for at least a year in that condition.  That problem was not even the biggest issue with that car.  It was Death on wheels.  I wanted to paint a skull and crossbones on the hood, but my parents wouldn't let me do it.  I think they didn't want to give the car any encouragement.

It was grey with black scorch marks across the hood.

Our first car was a brown/tan Ford Maverick (I think a 1972 model) and the only memorable moment I had was.......my dad and I were walking out of the Hilton hotel in Las Vegas, and we met Joe Louis (the boxer) just outside.  My dad was a big fan and they spoke for a few minutes......Mr. Louis then asked us for a ride and all I remember was that when he got in, the whole car just tilted to one side.......and rocked the car a bit......ok a lot......he was definitely a big man, a kind man, and a true gentleman.
