Car Color Gives Away Your Personality
I have read this before and then again just recently. The idea that the color of car you pick determines your personality. Here is one of many references. http://www.robinthompson.com/2005/06/car-color-tells-personality.html What if you have more than one car and they are all different colors? I have a silver car,a red car and a blue car. Honestly, the last car purchase was the red car. I didn't really care what color the car was( unless it was yellow or pink). I went with whatever model I was shopping and color wasn't really a serious consideration for me. Do you seriously look at the car color if you like everything else? Do you feel that your selection of color says something about you personally? Maybe I liked the color without realizing it. When I think about the colors I don't like, things do get a little more narrowed down. Then I tried to imagine what color of car some of the CH would drive.

To me, a car color really can't determine a personality......even I can't determine that. Since I've been living in places of extreme heat, I've tended to buy cars in colors which don't attract heat i.e. dark colors. Although my newest ride sort of changed my personality.

The last time I went "car shopping," which I loathe, I was asked by one superlatively brilliant salesman what color I would like. This was before we started discussing options and features of a particular model. I looked at him like he was a condescending idiot who didn't realize that I wasn't a naive backwoods country feck and turned around and walked out of the dealership. I've also been known to bring along my dog when I go car shopping. Some of them won't let the dog in the test drive. Some of the car salesmen my dog didn't like (he had very discernable taste in people!). when those things happened, I walked out. color is only important to me when all other items are equal.

*Pfft!* Everyone knows that color is the ONLY important aspect when buying a car! And, since I used to be an introspective, reflective and cautious driver, this was my choice: Then I moved up to the Pacific Northwest and, not wanting to be called a Californicator and have people throwing rocks at my car (an actual "fear" propagated down in So. Cal. by mean Pacific Northwesters), I became a bit more calm, sober and dedicated to my work with my this (which still has some blue in it): When the brown stuff hit the financial fan, I ended up going cheap (and, yes, I was pretty hysterical) with this: Then that clunker died so now I don't have a personality 'cause I don't have a car. (Disclaimer: The Lexus picture WAS my car - see "proof" below - the others are images I found of a 2003 Highlander and a 1992 Camry in the colors I had. ) I really miss driving this... It had all the upgrades of the 400 except it was an inline 6 not an inline 8.

Beags I sure never took you for a feck. Does the dog indicate in any way which car it prefers? That is animal discrimination. They should let the dog test drive. I try not to let how a dog looks affect my judgement. I'll admit sometimes the Dobermans make me a little nervous. The Pit Bulls are not always cordial either. If they drop the price by 50% I'll take any color they have. Mesh I love it. Is that a chopped hearse? I kept looking for the Pope in there but I couldn't find him.

Alas, the dog I used to take to car dealers to growl and bite the salesmen who were "shifty" is no longer with us. we had to put him down about a year and a half ago. but when he was alive he could sniff out any abnormalities in salemen personalities. he wasn't too good at the test drive anyway, tho, not having depth perception or opposible thumbs tends to hinder your driving skillz.

My current car is black with black leather interior. To me it's a classy look. Trying to keep it clean has driven me to the point that I will probably go with a silver one next. I just leased the wife a Nissan Juke AWD. It's a metallic light maroon. I tried talking her into the silver one, which had black leather with heated seats. Nope! Gotta be the red one. Her world, I just make the payments. Randy

That's interesting, Tim. I personally don't feel that color has anything to do with MY personality though some that don't know me may think otherwise. Those who may have had some conflict with me on a forum may see why the color "black" would describe my personality. However, the truth in that is...I'm only aggressive when I need to be...and, to me, nothing speaks louder than a super polished, black sports car no matter what brand it is. I've always owned black sports cars and will probably never buy another color. My luxury vehicles are a different story. Blue, white, metallic blue, beige, pewter, grey, burgundy, etc. My thing is...you pick the color that best fits the vehicle at all times. At least that's what *I* do. I don't feel it has anything to do with my personality as much as a personal preference. :) -Danny

All it "proves" is that for the purposes of this forum, you adopted this name, which may or may not have appeared on a car like this (thanks to the likes of photoshop, the camera certainly does lie now). As I recall the validity of your name has been called into question on many occasions. ;) As for the OP, my first thought was ....what a load of bollocks, but that said, I have two cars, one silver one blue and the description of the "typical" buyers do fit me pretty well (IMHO). The trouble with that is that when I buy a car I tend to buy the model / colours that are in demand as I always have one eye on the re-sale, so mebbe it is all bollocks after all. OR ......everyone thinks they're cool and reflective. All I can say for sure is that I'm not called CRAIG B and I've never owned a blue Toyota. Or am/have I ? ;

I am not sure I understand how black cars and aggressive folks are related. Like Danny, I don't think I'm particularly aggressive. I just like black. Black everything. It isn't so much of a statement - I simply happen not to like colors all that much. Black is neutral, clean, simple, and it works with everything. If it expresses anything, it's that I prefer NOT to express anything and to behave like a discreet guest in this world, remaining more logical than emotional in my interactions w/ other carbon units.

My first car was a '69 Buick LeSabre ($400) with a bad rod the salesman predicted would one day tear through the engine block. (It did, eventually) It was loud, somewhat ugly, reasonably fast, and functioned as an off-road vehicle on many occasions. No one knew for sure what color this car might be. We could see it, of course. It was all one color, so it's not like we couldn't decide which one was prominent. The problem was that we couldn't tell if it was brown or green. To this day, I don't know which it was.

I've always trended toward car colors that are...tastefully gaudy. My last car...a Honda Fit Sport was metallic orange. So I must've turned a corner because although I initially wanted a blue or wine color I ended up coming home with my first white car ever. But I do love the new Subie. White or not.

I drive a Silver Toyota Aurion which is an unsafe color. Probably Yellow is pretty good from a safety perspective. Geniuses prefer green though.

My first car was a black 67 Mustang, then I owned a 65 Mustang red, next a Datsun 280z yellow, then a Datsun pickup Green, next a Mazda pick up red, then a red Jeep Cherokee, then a purplish Jeep Grand Cherokee, next a black Jeep Liberty, then a black Hundya Sonata, and finally I am in a charcoal Honda Accord.
If color indicates your personality, I must be really messed up.
I have had enough black cars to know that you have a higher likelihood of getting hit with a dark color. I had my agent give me the statistics on that after the last 3 dark colored cars. I like black cars, probably my favorite color. Hot in Texas and hard to keep shiney clean, though. I typically just pick the color that I think the car looks best in; if I have a choice.

I've had cars of various colors. I usually go for the options first. Several have been silver/light gray--a 64 Ford and a 99 Subaru. A white 90 Toyota MR2 and a charcoal 89 MR2. A brown & white 79 Chevy van. A greenish/gray 71 Pinto and a beige 68 Opel Kadett. I guess I'm schizophrenic. Black--or navy blue--cars look sharp, but I wouldn't get one here in CA, because of the heat it would absorb.

You just know that some wise guy would have made that comment to the dealer when he was thinking about buying one and the dealer would;'ve said back " yeah, but that's why it's got the special hood..." . Where I live we don't get to see all these cool supercars you guys have in California. If one did somehow materialize down here everyone would just stand around gawking at it like it was a UFO- think "Back to the Future" when the farmer finds the DeLorean in the barn.

Abu Dhabi numberplate, that figures. There was a complete chrome Rolls Royce with Saudi Numbers plates for a while in the area I stay in when I am in Dubai. The other unusual colour you see here is matt black.

I would think that the color/personality connection could be made if you're shopping for a particular color, or pick a particular color from 2 otherwise identical cars. Here are all the cars I've owned, and their colors:
