Reading the link, the $49 sounds like it's just for people who own version 1 to upgrade to version 2, not to upgrade from whatever comes with X3 to Editor. Yes, this is correct, I believe that was answered in another thread. The upgrade from from Essentials to Editor is still the same as always. I am hoping they offer a special deal to X3 owners at some point, I have wanted the full Editor program for quite a while, its a considerable investment, though.
It was answered in this thread right above yours...LOL

dubdisciple Beepster, I am sure the official press release will go out as scheduled regardless of what is leaked. Since the scheduled ship date is just three days away, I doubt you have to wait that long.
This is just very odd behavior compared to last year where there was tons of heads up, details, promo vids and a pre-release promo. I know there is some corporate take over shenanigans in play here but I'm an old crustpunk/metalhead/generally socially undesirable urchin so it's getting a little irksome. Let's just get on with it already. I do not like being toyed with. But I guess in the meantime I'll just have to entertain myself with creeping stevec out. *leeeeerrrr* ;-)

Beep, it's cool. Everyone is kind of antsy at this point and the change in ownership amplifies that. If you watch every meolodyne and addictive drums tutorial, you may be able to distract yourself up until the official press release

Why not just relax, wait for the official announcement and the promo stuff to start? It will come soon enough. I am sure there will be plenty of marketing stuff. Besides, you are not planning on being the first to buy right?

MachineClaw "Offer lasts until October 31" wow kinda of a short window there since the X3 product hasn't been release.
It's over a month, what's wrong with that? Regards,

No and I'll be waiting quite a while before plunging (if at all) but my OCD side wants to get on with absorbing exactly what is happening. Basically everything I do hinges on this product at the moment so so my crazy little pea brain needs to know exactly what the heck is going on so it can scurry about frantically making plans for the future. And the hype/speculation/hyperbole is driving me up the wall. Bah... I got the rig fired up (finally) so maybe I'll go peck away at it like mentally challenged chicken for a while instead of stirring up more angst. Haven't actually christened the new room yet. Cheers.

mike_mccueGee, I already have Melodyne Editor. Why would I want to buy Melodyne twice? ;-)
You can buy the base version and still get integrated Melodyne support if you'd like.
What do you mean when you say integrated support? Does that mean Cakewalk might fix a bug if it shows up? I use Melodyne Editor in the clip fx bin when ever I want to. I always thought that was pretty well integrated. When I bought Presonus Pro as a backup plan I didn't bother downloading the Melodyne stuff because I already own professional software. Now it seems like I get to buy it for third time. Plus I had to buy V-vocal even though it was sub par. When is Tascam going to offer a streamlined professional package for the workers that don't want to pay for almost ware and already have everything thing they need but a reliable DAW? Best regards, mike

groovey1 I read the Celemony page a couple of times, and I still feel like I'm not getting the point. Is it saying we have to buy the $49 Melodyne upgrade to make the X3 ARA integration work?
According to Seth, Melodyne Essential will be a part (already integrated into) SONAR X3 Pro.
Correct, the $49 get you to the full Editor version.
Incorrect. The $49 upgrade deal is for Celemony customers who already have Editor v1 and then purchase and install SONAR X3 (which only has Essential). This deal does not apply to the Essential version (with or without X3). It only applies to the earlier version of Editor (when installing X3). Kind regards, Living Room Rocker

1. ARA is supported in all 3 flavors of SONAR X3, no ones forcing you to buy one with Melodyne if you don't want too. In fact you won't even have to look at the ProChannel (which we know you hate so much) if you buy the base version, which only includes a demo of melodyne. 2. ARA integration is far better than using it in the FX bin, light years ahead. In fact any new plugin that supports ARA should drop right into X3. Why can't you post anything without being snarky, condescending, or trollish? Especially when we're trying to be helpful and positive.

I've been waiting 15 years for Cakewalk to develop tempo mapping tools that don't suck. Flexible and powerful tempo mapping would be a great core functionality for a professional DAW. Knowing how ARA integrates with tempo mapping so well highlights how frustrating it will seem to use circa 1993 tempo mapping tools. Best regards, mike

I must be missing the relationship between ARA and tempo mapping. If they are unrelated, then I don't quite see the point bringing it up here. But if the point is that you would rather they concentrate their development efforts on different functionality such as tempo mapping, while that may be a very fair point to make, I have found that repeatedly making the same argument rarely makes the argument stronger once you have communicated it to the best of your abilities. In fact it often tends to make your audience place less importance on your arguments, no matter how legitimate they might be.

If I understand correctly, X3 will come with Melodyne Single Track Essential. If that's what you have now, selling it might be an option for you. However, you may be shooing yourself in the foot on a possible future cross grade deal. Also, I'm betting that the included version of Essential will be integrated into X3 and you won't be able to use it in another DAW like you can now. I have Editor 2.1.1 and it should work just fine, (actually better), in X3. ...or at least I hope so. Looping in Melodyne would be great. Paul
