[CWBRN-20920 ] - Clip foreground/background color issue

(Note: The purpose of this thread is to have the issue listed in the first post of this thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Outstanding-Issues-as-of-X3D-and-general-comments-m2952585.aspx#2952585 )

Lasso-select multiple clips (having different foreground colors) and choose a desired color from Clip Inspector's "Background" drop-down list.

[Expected Results]
Only the clip background color changes.

[Actual Results]
The clips' foreground colors change as well (but, fortunately, the note event colors in the PRV aren't affected)

(Similarly, changing multiple clips' foreground color also changes the clips' background colors)

This issue was introduced in X3. The ticket's status was updated to "Submitted to Development" on Oct 29 last year.

    Hi Jlien X

    Updated - Can reproduce...

    TEST CASE 1

    STEPS
    Create Project
Create three soft synth tracks and play on them.
Under the inspector -> Clip, change foreground and background colours for each clip (different).
    Lasso all the clips
Change the background colour for all the clips

    EXPECTED
Colour change for background colour for all tracks

    ACTUAL
Background and foreground colour changed for all tracks.

    STEPS CONTINUED
    Goto PRV

    EXPECTED
    Note colours change

    ACTUAL
    Note colours do not change

    TEST CASE 2

Repeat steps of test case 1 but rather than lasso, hold shift down to select multiple clips and change background and foreground colours.

    EXPECTED
Colours change for clip and PRV etc

    ACTUAL
As expected but the note colours do not change in PRV.

Interesting that Cakewalk acknowledged this; I'm not able to reproduce it either. If there's a problem, as I see it, it's that the PRV doesn't follow the foreground color change. But the Ref. Guide does say that the PRV uses the track color not the clip color so this seems to be WAD.

Opps - Sorry I updated my post #2, I can reproduce now, you just need to change the background colour and yes this appears to be a soft synth clip issue (at least I tested for this).

Sorry to have failed to post exact steps in the OP. Here's how you can reproduce the bug perfectly:

    1. Load the Normal project template in X3.
    2. Insert an audio track.
    3. Open the Browser and drag an audio clip into the first (existing) audio track.
    4. From the Browser, drag another audio clip into the second audio track (which you've just inserted).
    5. Make sure the two audio clips have different foregorund colors.
    6. Lasso-select the two audio clips, go to the Clip Inspector and select a desired background color from the Background color palette.

    [Expected Results]
Only the clip background color changes.

    [Actual Results]
The clip foreground colors also change.

    Tak T.

I can confirm that as well (so audio as well as MIDI), and PRV notes don't change as well if (in addition) you look at my steps in #2. Thanks...

As Brundlefly mentioned, the note color in the PRV is linked to the track header color in the TV so that's not a bug IMO. It's actually a good design because I cannot think of a situation where you want to change the color of note events in the PRV for only a specific section.
