I just wanted to verify that that the crash has something to do with the language setting and not with command center at all. Right now I'm up to date. So I hope this will be fixed until the next update. If not, we can try the "left mouse" trick an see it it that works.

Since the latest installment of Cambridge release, Command Center don't work anymore on my machine.
It opens normally, scans the products and after the last action "calculating file sizes", CCC closes its window and an error appear with the following:

Oops, sorry!
Unfortunately something went wrong, and Command Center was unable to recover.
If this problem persists, please contact Cakewalk Technical Support.
Click Ok to restart Command Center.
Click Cancel to close Command Center.

Restart brings again the same error. I have tried to reinstall Command Center, restartet my computer, tried to empty the CCC cache folder, but the problem persists.

I've wrote this to Cakewalk Technical Support and got automatic response with a case numer 166594.

But maybe someone here in the forum know what to do or have ideas to solve this problem.

Thanks.
regards
Markus

Hi - I moved this to Problem Reports, now that a CWBRN was generated for the issue, and multiple folks also have the issue.

@madges - please edit the subject line of your initial post for this thread to add the CWBRN number?

Thanks - it is: CWBRN-32323

You might have to change the wording to fit in the space allowed.  This will help the Cakewalk developers know it is a confirmed problem, and should hopefully result in them factoring it into their evaluation/correction cycle a little sooner than later.  :)

If this happens, where I´m not sure of,
it´s  easy to change the language settings.

Same problem with german version, Windows 8.1 64 bit.
The mouse trick works for me:

- First I set language to english version (during scan for updates )
- then I close the Command Center
- restart Command Center
- then I install updates. After that I switched back to german.

Done.

on example i has opened this path to see error -logfile:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Command Center

found on my maschine this file: debug-log.txt

the Exception is a GDI+ error

Exception: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Ein Aufrufziel hat einen Ausnahmefehler verursacht. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.ExternalException: Allgemeiner Fehler in GDI+.
bei System.Drawing.Graphics.MeasureString(String text, Font font, SizeF layoutArea, StringFormat stringFormat)
bei System.Drawing.Graphics.MeasureString(String text, Font font, Int32 width, StringFormat format)
.......

Cakewalk Programmer, please show at this:

hate that error with a passion. Generic Error is possibly the most useless error description ever written.
When I've encountered it the problem as always been related to file IO.
Here is the list of fixes I keep in my notes- Not sure if these apply but they usually do the trick for me.
  • Check File path
    • Make sure that the parent directory exists
    • Ensure that path includes both the filename and extension
    • Use server.MapPath() to create the path
  • Make sure that the file isn't being written back to it's source. Close and reopen the stream if necessary.
My apologies if i stole this list from somewhere else. It has been in my notebook for awhile and I can't remember where it came from.
