I have a pet peeve with the Waves folks around their marketing/naming of NLS (non-linear summing.)

Nothing about the NLS plugins has anything to do with summing. It can't because it is a plugin built into the architecture of a DAW, which is independent from the bus/summing components in the signal path. I don't think there is any DAW out there that would enable a plugin to actually sum signals independently of the summing that occurs in busses.

Summing happens AFTER the track plugin FX bins and before/after the Bus FX bins depending on routing. The NLS plugins may make it sound more like your song was mixed on a large format console, but it has NOTHING to do with summing.

Sorry for the rant, but I hate misleading marketing.

I loaded the CEM on all of my buses and then one on the master also. I found the A-type (trident) was much more flattering and smooth on Vox. The S-type (SSL) worked well on drums for me. It added a little mid to high mid-presence. I used the A-type on the Master as well which helped smooth out the mix overall. I find that it is a subtle difference in sound but a definite one. It adds that little something extra that you can't quite put your finger on. I'll steal from Emeril here to illustrate. It is like adding a bit of "BAM" to the mix.

also try stacking multiple emulations on a single  bus or a channel with no other effects enabled on that channel/bus. I tried 10 as an example. The effect then becomes very noticable (by switching pro channel in and out) . It also highlights the difference of each of the 3 types. I like N.

Cheers.

You definitely have "Use Multiprocessing Engine" checked in Edit > Preferences > Playback and Recording?  SONAR should definitely spread them pretty evenly across cores.

Yes that was checked.

I basically loaded a project from X1 which behaved perfectly for 2 hours until i followed the recommendation of using the console emulation on all channels/busses which overloaded core 1.

However...... Having deleted all instances of console emulation, the project still overloads, which wasn't happening beforehand. As i only have 3 softsynths and 4 fx in total on various channels, all of which i have turned off to see if there is any difference, which there isnt, i can only conclude that X2 has somehow corrupted the project as even after pc restart etc it still overloads and is unplayable.

Maybe a bug? It seems that noone else has reported this behaviour so im not sure but i am very hesitant to use X2 again until the cause can be established.

Interesting.  I bet it's some other plug-in in the project.  Can you narrow it down by bypassing FX Bins, Synths in the rack, & ProChannel Modules?

I am putting myself forward for Buffoon of the week/month/year/decade as i didnt realise how low my buffer setting was on Octa Capture. Obviously it couldnt cope with what i was trying to do. Apologies :-/
