Re:Dimension Pro 'Not Valid' Problem Solved 2010/12/11 23:20:33 (permalink)
I wanted to give X1 every chance to be correct so I got rid of everything...
I had the luxury of wiping my drive and started with a clean build.
Re-formatted
Installed win7 pro 64bit
Got a couple of updates
installed UG-1A
Installed Sonar X1 and all the add-ons - no errors or problems
Sorry to hear everyone having such a hard time with it.

Thanks JerryLan but I didn't install the 32 bit version so I have no [drive]:ProgramFiles (x86)/Cakewalk/Dimension Pro/Programs  nor  [drive]:ProgramFiles (x86)/Cakewalk/Dimension Pro/Multisamples to even start your suggestion.

I hacked Regedit with the new Serial Number - didn't work.  Won't accept new registration code.  Now my projects won't play in X1 or 8.5.3.

I'm waiting for another 2 hours for the X1 Dim pro download - I'm afraid I'm going to get into further trouble from what you guys are saying.  I'm 32bit.

Try this.

Add [drive]:\program files\cakewalk\dimension pro to your vst scan folders list. Re-scan. See if that works first.

In that folder I also found an old Dim Pro 64.dll file dated 4/3/2006 and renamed it, then copied the newer .ddl file from [drive]:\program files\cakewalk\Vstplugins\dimension pro\ dated 8/30/2010 into the above directory.

Rescanned my plugins and Dim Pro is back. For some reason it would NOT use the .dll from the vst directory but would from the program directory. It even show BOTH .dll's as available when inserting a synth.

Hope that's clear enough and that it helps someone.

Re:Additional Content needs a Valid Dim Pro? 2010/12/12 01:01:23 (permalink)
OK - I downloaded Dim pro from X1.  And when I install it - it says there is a previous version of Dim pro and I need to update to 1.5.  Then it takes me to a page that shows Dimension Pro/LE 1.5.  What is this LE 1.5??  This doesn't look right.  And why do I have to download again from and update page.

Re:Dimension Pro: Re-installed, now projects cannot find it 2010/12/12 01:04:51 (permalink)
I'm in trouble with this. I recently loaded Dim Pro (1.2) onto a Win 7 64-bit machine, and it was working fine in 8.5. Had the samples on a separate drive. Now with X1 I tried to load the 1.5 update, but was not able to do that. It kept insisting the 1.2 was not loaded on my machine. So I tried uninstalling the whole lot and reinstalling. Now Dim Pro appears to load samples (and it takes forever to load)  but I can't get and sound in 8.5 and X1. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Re:Dimension Pro 'Not Valid' Problem Solved 2010/12/12 05:50:50 (permalink)
Thanks a lot Rickbass for the solution.

Just one little addition: I needed to replace the regcode also, which is also given by Cakewalk with the new serial. Just search for the old regcode in regedit (you can find the old code in your account registered products) and replace it with the new one, that is the simpliest way I think.
I did the same with the serial, because some of the directories you mentioned in regedit were not in my register, there were other places in the register however where I could find the old serial. Maybe a matter of the operating system I work with (XP SP3).

Thanks again for the help!

Best regards,
Dick Kloosterman

Re:Dimension Pro: Re-installed, now projects cannot find it 2010/12/13 16:14:36 (permalink)
I got a reply from the technical support. I haven't tested it, yet. But, I have no doubt that it will work. Thanks, Clad!

Here is what happened:
Dimenseion Pro 1.5 is VST only. DXi is no longer supported. So, removing Dimension Pro from the system removed the DXi version that I was using in my existing projects.

The 1.2 Dimension Pro update can be installed to fix the problem where you want to only install the DXi version.

Or, you can replace the DXi version with the VST version. (I don't know how to look up what program I used if the synthesizer doesn't load...)
http://www.cakewalk.com/s...der.aspx?ID=2007013164
So, I will install Dimension Pro 1.2 DXi, and make sure that I will only use the VST version in the future.

Re:[Consolidated] Dimension Pro Install Problems X1 Producer- Gettin' Valid 2010/12/13 18:38:51 (permalink)
I had several problems with the downloads, many corrupt after hours of download.  Fortunately the discs came today.  I now face the dim pro issue.  The installer has located my previous paid version, and recommended that I download the update from cakewalk.com.  From reading here I conclude that I will not be able to load the additional content disc.  I have done no customizations worthy of saving.

Would my best course be to remove the current full paid version and install from the discs?  I am not big on regedit.

win 7 64 bit  lost the standalone some time ago.

I am surprised that cakewalk has not fully addressed this issue, since it is the existing users that are having the problems.

amac - If you have Dim Pro 1.2 - I'd update it to 1.5 first through the Sonar Website.  Then try to install the additional content.  That should save you from having to wait 2 hours to download Dim Pro.  I ended up having to do the entire download, but had I known, I would have done it differently.

Re:[Consolidated] Dimension Pro Install Problems X1 Producer- Gettin' Valid 2010/12/13 19:44:19 (permalink)
My problem with DimPro definitely has NOTHING to do with DXi as i never installed the DXi only the VST and only the VST64 [installed 1.2 from 8.5 media and updated to 1.5 immediately before doing anything]....after installing X1, projects created in 8.5 report DimPro missing in both 8.5 and X1........Dimension pro x64.dll resides in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\VSTPlugins\Dimension pro like it has since 8.5.3 days....it reports as version 1.5.0.5 dated 21 May 2010.....DimPro scans in both X1 and 8.5 and new instances can be added to projects but existing instances are not found by projects.
I did not install DimPro when I installed X1 as I knew I already had DimPro1.5 installed.

I've looked at various options including a total disk wipe but would prefer if Cakewalk would provide detailed instruction as to how to clean up this mess that has resulted in me not being able to use 8.5.3 anymore........

not happy Cakewalk seem horribly silent about it - could someone at least acknowledge that there is a problem please.
No reponse to my CWBRN report

Re:[Consolidated] Dimension Pro Install Problems X1 Producer- Gettin' Valid 2010/12/14 09:35:05 (permalink)
I now have D-Pro 1.5 and the additional content installed. Here's what happened to me:

Initial problem:
- Originally I had 8.5.3 PE installed and D-Pro 1.2.
- I tried to install the additional content. This failed telling me to install the patch to D-Pro 1.5.
- I patched D-Pro to 1.5.
- The additional content failed with the 'no valid D-Pro 1.5 installation'

Investigations:
- I then tried to uninstall D-Pro 1.5, but the add+remove programs applet thought I still had 1.2 installed. I clicked 'remove' and it failed with an error dialog.
- After searching the registry and looking at the disk I found that the uninstaller and data unins0000.* were missing from the Dimension Pro directory. So this is why the uninstall from the control panel was failing. Either D-Pro 1.2 or the 1.5 patch had not supplied an uninstaller.
- I tried renaming the Dimension Pro directory and DLL in the vstplusgins directory but that didn't work - the additional content installer must be using registry data to determine that D-Pro 1.5 is not installed and there is evidently some incompatibility.
- I considered uninstalling by hand but I figured that I might end up in a worse position - with my existing D-Pro installation deleted, but the registry still saying that it was installed (and it can be virtually impossible to clean out the registry unless you know the precise keys you're looking for).

Solution that worked for me:
- Don't attempt any manual uninstallation.
- Get your original D-Pro 1.2 install DVD and perform a full install over the top of the existing one.
- As soon as you've done that use the control panel to uninstall D-Pro. You're then left with a clean system.
- Use the X1-supplied D-Pro 1.5 installer
- Run the additional content installer (which is happy now that the D-Pro installation is the one that came from X1).

That was my experience. Maybe I was just lucky...

Re:[Consolidated] Dimension Pro Install Problems X1 Producer- Gettin' Valid 2010/12/14 15:34:16 (permalink)
Ok, I got mine to work.

-- completely uninstall D-Pro.  This includes manually deleting all D-Pro related registry entries.
-- uninstall Sonar X-1
-- reinstall D-Pro 1.5 from the installation file supplied with Sonar X1
-- authorize the stand-alone version of D-Pro (right click on icon to run as administrator or it will not authorize)
-- reinstall Sonar X-1
-- re-scan plug-ins from Sonar X-1
-- viola -- D-Pro 64-bit shows up in synth list and loads properly.

Thanks. The regedit method worked for me.
Pity that I (like many others) spent hours trying to get this working.
And I'm disappointed that Cakewalk have not even acknowledged the issue so far.

Same problem here.  Too much time wasted on trying to fix a problem that punishes existing customers.  An "official" fix from Cake would be nice.

Thanks SO much! This actually worked for me, X1 additional content installed fine and Dimension Pro 1.5 works great. I didn't even think to uninstall it from the control panel. Leave it to me to over-think things. Thanks!

Re:[Consolidated] Dimension Pro Install Problems X1 Producer- Gettin' Valid 2010/12/24 09:39:47 (permalink)
Has anyone discovered a repeatable fix for failure of Sonar X1 and 8.5.3 to find Dim Pro 1.5?  Has anyone filed a report with Cakewalk?

I tried the fixes suggested above after getting caught in the loop in attempts to install X1 Producer additional content.  Prior to X1 I had run the 1.5 updater and Properties showed the version as 1.5.  I installed the first 4 parts of the X1 download (including Dim Pro expansion) then got hung up in the loop request to run the 1.5 updater.

First I tried the hint to run as Administrator both standalone and X1 and did not get a serial number or registration request.  I tried inserting the new registration code in the registry to no avail.  Did a complete uninstall including registry key removal and reload of 1.2 from Sonar 8 and still got caught in the loop, whether running the 1.5 updater before or while trying to install additional content.

Last tried complete uninstall and registry key removal followed by install from the X1 download.  This allowed install of Dim Pro 1.5 and all additional content.  But despite repeated rescanning with and without the standalone location included in the scan paths Dim Pro does not appear in VST Instruments in X1 and 8.5.3 and Dim Pro will not load in projects in either version.  The failure to load/may not be installed properly error appears.

Does anyone have a solution for this issue?
