AWEsOME!!! I LOVE THIS TUNE!!!!!!! I can relate after a bad breakup a few years ago that never seemed to so away.... This has a Devo type of groove to it, and I mean that in a good way because I like that groove of a sound. 
 
You've got something really great going on here with this one in my opinion. 
 
Only thing I would change, I'd bring up the bottom end bass, have it more "In your face" in a few places. Expression with some more volume is what I am trying to say. 
 
Either way, This is AWEsOME!!! Great work and Tune!!!

Hi,
Always something that reminds me about Joe Jackson or around,we used to call this : "New Wave"
Easy listening for sure.
The lyrics seem to be actually concerning United States Of America but even with an european ear the song goes its way with ease.

Listen to this a second time since you apparently didn't like my reply or whatever reason had no response, If you don't like me then fine, or respect me, whatever...........
 
I think the Bass needs more power to it in spots, some THUMP BOOM, not on the whole song, just on the highlights of the bass, I mean if your going to highlight a NOTE you've gotta make it have some expression man, you know what I mean I suspect, put it IN YOUR FACE in those places, and also this needs a little more treble because it lacks clarity. 
 
A smart person mixes down their tunes and listens to them without a player using EQ's and such things, simply RAW, but sometimes you can be TOO Flat. That is why you listen to your mixdowns without the extra's. So many times people post things on here and they think they sound great but they mix them down and what they are playing them on are players that have preset or they forgot they were using an Equalizer to listen to their music. Just saying. Or a thought that is. 
 
I'm listening to this on Studio Monitoring speakers. I absolutely LOVE THE TUNE, and I am just telling you how I hear it, thanks for sharing the listen. Enjoyed listening to this very much. 
 
Just my thoughts on the tune, I hope you find it helpful, not sure why you replied to everyone but me, probably busy perhaps, or maybe you just don't like me. Either way, I am always 100% HONEST with what I have to say, I'm no pro, no expert, but then again I love hearing music and what I hear should mean a lot as a listener to those who try and produce ya know. 
 
This song is really great!!! In my opinion. Just need what I mentioned above.

I'm late to the party again, but I've been listening to this several times during this month because it's one of my favorite new songs.  For me, the lyrics are the star of this tune, though your voice bring out the meaning of the words quite well.  I wish that I'd written it myself.  Conclusion: you oughta be in pictures ;)

Excellent number.  You have put into lyrics what I think a lot of us are feeling.  I agree with some of the comments above --- you have melded cheerful melody and instrumentation with disconcerting lyrics. It all sounds great.
