Intro sound great. Wouldnt change a thing.

The vocals need some fine tuning. Try cutting a nice fat q around 700hz. The vox also noticeably distort at points.

Also cut the synth around 1k.

Snare could come up a half db.

I'm working on those changes as I type.  Thanks for the quick responses.

This is great... I love it... my only crit...  the excellent lead Vocal may be clipping a bit here and there...

It gives me a Leon Russell, "I've been so many places in my life and time" vibe, sounds nice and clean to me.

I really enjoyed this - great song, well executed. Mix sounds good on my headphones.

Ok, this is my third attempt at posting a reply to this - grrr ! Stupid computer !

This all sounds great Lynn - I really liked the mix. The intro felt a little longer than it needed to be to me, but other than that nothing jumped out and said change me.

James, I took your advice and applied the suggestions you gave me. I think that it helped quite a bit. Notnat, I did lower the backing tracks and lowered the lead vocal which was clipping. I think it is much cleaner now. Terry, thanks for taking the time for a second listen. The intro is rather long, and I could easily pare it down. I'm less concerned about being radio friendly, but I don't believe in excess either. Daryl, thanks for the comments. The strings are courtesy of my old Korg Triton. Bandontherun, it's quite an honor to be likened to Leon Russel. Paulo, thank you so much for taking the time. The intro is being considered. Starise, it's always good to hear from you. The background stabs are actually a vocal sample from my Triton. They are part of a stem mix containing the drums and the other synth parts, so, unfortunately, I'm not able to separate them out. Again, thanks to all who've taken the time to listen and respond. I'm encouraged by what I'm hearing so far.

I don't hear any clipping on the vocal on the BX8a monitors.  However, those other guys have a better sense of the mix and production so it's worth listening to!  Lynn, I love this song.  Your vocals are very cool.  Here's the only problem I see and it's MY problem, not yours.  I start getting distracted after 3 1/2 minutes if there are not radical or totally different elements.  This song at about that length to me would be plenty and leave you wanting more.  Of course this is a thing that is just my opinion.  Your vocals are still so cool to me and the song and instruments are well done.  This is a winner! IMHO of course. :-)

Thank you for your kind words.  The consensus is that the intro is too long, and I agree.  I can easily pare down the intro to about 10 seconds, and I will probably do so, but that's just a matter of starting the song at a different point.  I'm more interested in the overall mix, at this point.  My strategy when I originally recorded this song was to let it build up through out the song by adding elements in each verse and chorus, and then let it get strong at the final chorus after the instrument break.  I do appreciate your very creative ideas, and so far, they have resulted in a better mix.  I'm not done, yet, taking ideas and suggestions.

Excellent song and performance Lynn, that was great. Got a little 'Glory Box' vibe in the rhythm and mood. The intro is quite long, I might add 'something' about halfway through to herald the vocal, a little hint of the melody perhaps. Just an idea, no biggie. Very nice mix to my ears.

I want to thank you guys for your kind replies.  This is a song that is very dear to my heart, and I want to get it right.  You have given me much encouragement, and I hope to include it on my next collection of songs.  As several people have mentioned, the intro is somewhat long, but it would be so easy to start the song on the 4th measure from the end of the intro without losing anything.  On the next revision, I will create an alternate version that does just that.  Thanks again for listening.

The music is really trippy - love it!  But the vocals steal the show. The dry vocals adds cool contrast with the music. Creates a great vibe. Lots of embellishments that really draws the listener in and keep things interesting...  A+ job!!

The chee-zee choir sound doesn't make it for me.  I think that staccato and/or pizz strings would be a better fit for the song.  Overall this sounds terrific.

Nicely done. Well mixed. Only one small thing I detected was a jump in the guitar volume at about 1:34 which lasts for a note or two right when the words "I dont" are sung. Listening only on my computer monitors I checked on a mediocre pair of headphones as well and I think I still detect it--
It maybe my imagination too. Other than that great job.
